Prince Harry reveals that he killed 25 people in Afghanistan. He did not think of the 25 as ‘people’ but as ‘chess pieces’

Of all the idiotic and stupid things to say this has to be his worst yet. I have some close members of my family in the forces and none of them ever discusses whom they may have killed in conflict, no matter the circumstances.

This is a massive no no. I honestly believe he has crossed the line on so many levels now. Next time he cries about his security he needs to have a long hard think after this.

I'm in awe at his stupidity now 😳

Yet Willy knocked him off his feet and sent him crying to his therapist.

Bless.

Being sour about a stranger? Like Prince Harry then. You couldn’t make it up.

Yes yes I’m sure your army credentials are absolutely heroic and wonderful.

What are you on about?

Happygirl79 · 05/01/2023 16:17

He appears to be as barking mad as his uncle Andrew so it wouldn't surprise me if he did.

He doesn't appear to understand how stupid he is.

Already a security risk so now he has made it so much worse. I really don't know what he is trying to achieve by saying this

Let us not forget that the Taliban took the lives of over 400 of our British service men/women during the Afghanistan campaign

Just saying........

Fifteen of the 19 (9/11) plane hijackers were also Saudi nationals and as Harry appears to reference 9/11, I always wondered why Saudi Arabia has never been held to account (bombed) as Iraq and Afghanistan (and the rest) were.

Then I remember, the RF and Government have got strong (profitable) ties to Saudi so of course this would never happen.

The British Military personnel are simply pawns in the game.

Zone2NorthLondon · 05/01/2023 16:18

In combat, soldiers have a dissociative state. To allow them to participate in battles and cope with fatalities. The fatalities they witness and the fatalities they inflict. No soldier in combat conceptualises the enemy as an uncle,a son, a member of their community. Depersonalisation is required to adequately function. Long term the rate of PTSD amongst the military is higher than that of non military because of what soldiers experience

JenniferBarkley · 05/01/2023 16:18

It may have been his job, but it's a job he chose.

Silverbook · 05/01/2023 16:19

My husband is ex forces. We live 2 miles from a large military base and many of our friends are serving/ex serving.

Not once has anybody I know ever, ever mentioned their “number”.

I can’t believe professional and respectful ex personnel would do that. Especially if they were openly worried about security.

WTF, Harold!

I despise the Taliban.

I'm also unsurprised that they try to kill the people that invaded and tried to kill them.

IncessantNameChanger · 05/01/2023 16:20

Yikes! Dh family are forces. No doubt one of them has killed someone. I don't want to know. Fil got pissed once at a family gathering and told me he could kill everyone in the room. Well tbh give me a gun so I could I but it never enters my head. Clearly enters fil head. Felt very uncomfortable around him since over two decades ago. Bil and cousins say they joined up to create peace (ha!) But tbh they honestly see it as peace keeping ( bomb disposal etc).

Lockupyourbiscuits · 05/01/2023 15:49

I was concerned he would mention his time in Afghanistan as a security risk
Even I didn’t this he would be stupid enough to claim he killed 25 people
If I was Meghan I would be absolutely livid
He has banged on about keeping his family safe and now done this

I have no words

It’s a fuck up of epic proportions. Idiot.

He’s waited for the Queen to die to reveal this - good job as she would be absolutely bloody livid.

Bobbins36 · 05/01/2023 16:21

Family member with a LOT more active service than this clown. Wouldn’t dream of discussing this with civilians in private, let alone in a fucking book and on the telly. What a bellend.

SnottyLottie · 05/01/2023 16:22

I went out with someone in the US airforce and asked them how many people they had killed. They said “don’t know, probably a lot, I don’t keep count”

I was being nosey at the time but I suppose in hindsight it’s something he did to keep himself sane, knowing that he had taken lives. I do now think keeping count is a bit morbid.

Coronateachingagain · 05/01/2023 16:23

The security bill has just gone up. And it is all the RF's fault of course

PicturesOfDogs · 05/01/2023 16:23

If he’s complaining about security, he’s a bit stupid to put this in.

I think he’s too stupid to realise how stupid he is

crumpet · 05/01/2023 16:23

The issue is not whether as a member of the armed forces in a conflict zone he inflicted casualties.

The issue is whether, as a high profile individual, he was wise to advertise his activities in this way and whether he and his family are now more, or less safe as a result.

Happygirl79 · 05/01/2023 16:24

I think it's some kind of weird stealth boast? He is unhinged.

crumpet · 05/01/2023 16:24

I’m of the view that he was an idiot to do so

amyneedssleep · 05/01/2023 16:25

It's so very British to champion and fetishise war and the military, but to consider the discussion of the realities of it after the fact as indecent.

Completely agree. Hypocrisy seems to be a national sport here.

Cocolapew · 05/01/2023 16:28

I think people are missing the point.
Everyone knows a soldier on active duty will have shot at and probably killed the enemy.
But Harry keeps going on about lack of security then admits he killed 25 Taliban members, who tbf, aren't known for being rational at the best of times. He might as well paint a bloody big bullseye on his back.

Oher · 05/01/2023 16:31

NowDoYouBelieveMe · 05/01/2023 15:52

It probably helps with the job.

“Had enemy contact Sir.”
”Any fatalities?”
”Yes Sir.”
”How many?”
”I dunno, was I supposed to count?”

Of course he knows how many enemy combatants he killed and of course he didn’t have lots of empathy for them as fellow humans at the time. Army training would be pretty rubbish if it encouraged soldiers to do soul-searching before each pull of the trigger.

Yep. It's an old story. I've pointed it out on several different threads in the past and barely had a reaction even though he's on record as likening killing to a video game.

Maybe he thinks chess is a bit more upmarket but he's an utter tool to bring it to the fore again after all the yapping over his security.

MM was the honeytrap to get him on board and she has been handsomely rewarded. The puppet masters are the bigwigs, It is well known.

This is amazing, please expand on this theory, preferably with sources.

KathyCornwall · 05/01/2023 16:35

I generally find Harry just an angry, damaged boy, handling things in a way that cannot be helping him. Now for the first time I'm actually concerned for him, and his family.
