The royal family

To wonder if the allegations Harry has made against his brother might be true?

We put the royal family on a pedestal, however they are a family with potential issues and dysfunction like a lot of families have.

I just find myself wondering if these allegations might have some truth behind them and what that might mean for the future of the royal family.

I also wonder what Dianna would think of this feud between her two boys. I expect she would be very sad…

They are far more dysfunctional than your average family. They are just people and just as likely to be an arsehole as the next person. Why would you be surprised. It’s not healthy to look up to these people.

TrashyPanda · 12/06/2023 14:17

I agree @polkadotdalmation . I probably wasn’t very clear

beforehand, the brothers and Kate seemed to get on really well, but I think the simmering seeds of resentment were always there in Harry. It’s like he was “nursing his wrath to keep it warm” and then one day it all came to a head.

it’s sad, because before it really seemed Harry was genuinely fond of Kate and enjoyed being in her company

the constantly seeking publicity since they went to the US, to the extent of making up a “near catastrophe” is very strange. Who can understand it?

does this make Harry happy?

who can tell - but he doesn’t look and behave like a contented man.

Regarding the scuffle mentioned with press:

A Clarence House spokesman said the prince was defending himself when the incident, which left a photographer with a cut lip, took place at around 3am this morning. Prince Harry was hit in the face by a camera as photographers crowded around him as he was getting into a car," he said. "In pushing the camera away, it's understood that a photographer's lip was cut."

Well yes, that's because that's what people expect and they make sure that is all people see- do you expect them to have a slanging match at official events? Nobody can say they were close before Meghan and she caused this, because you have no idea at all.

TrashyPanda · 12/06/2023 14:22

To say they got on well until Meghan came along is quite frankly, pathetic

pray do tell more.

without slinging insults this time, please

He literally told us in his own book that he hit one of his protection officers.
He clearly has a temper.

TrashyPanda · 12/06/2023 14:25

Writing in his 2020 book ‘Battle of Brothers’, Mr Lacey said: “Harry has freely confessed to his own blazing temper from time to time

Iwantcakeeveryday · 12/06/2023 14:27

I'm posting this from William in 2004, for those that took issue with Harry saying the same, many years later:

William says. "There are disagreements, obviously, as all families do, and when there are, there are big disagreements

TrashyPanda · 12/06/2023 14:28

What person on earth does not have disagreements with others?

The word 'pathetic' is slinging an insult. OK. I didn't realise this, on this thread. I will take note and do better.

They are very very different characters, that much is obvious. And to cast slurs on Meghan as if she is the one that broke up a very close bond between them is.... ummm... 'not right' as far as my opinion goes.

TrashyPanda · 12/06/2023 14:41

glad to have been able to assist you.

please do tell why it is “pathetic” to say they got on well before Meghan arrived?

jeffgoldblum · 12/06/2023 14:50

Because it makes Meghan look bad I suspect?

polkadotdalmation · 12/06/2023 14:53

A lot of supposition to say they had anything other than normal sibling rivalry growing up but they clearly had a deep support for each other as in having a secret password to show sincerity (which harry chose to disregard). What's not normal is for adult siblings to live and work in such close proximity and to have this incredibly difficult relationship with the public. It's amazing they weren't fighting

I explained in my post in answer to you.

Why do I have to repeat it?
Do you want me to say the same thing but in a different way or what

Thank you. I don't want to

Cranberrystreet · 12/06/2023 14:57

polkadotdalmation · 12/06/2023 13:59

@clyspa Yes none of it makes sense. You are not happy in an institution that means constant intrusion into your privacy and relationships. Quite understandable. William has come to terms with it, has a wife and family and can negotiate a middle road.

So harry meets a woman he falls in love with and wants to leave the RF three ring circus. Again understandable. He wants privacy for himself and his family.

So they go to live in California and spend 2 years exposing everything possible about his private life. Not understandable

Ultimately he wanted one thing and his wife wanted something different. She wants the wealth and fame she'd been seeking all her adult life. That's it in a nutshell. Trying to square the circle and harry is the one who seems most unhappy while Meghan looks thrilled with the outcome.

Or … as Harry stated … he wanted to lay it all out there and tell his side of the story in his own words so the press no longer had any power over him or his wife and young dc. And this has led to him being able to challenge the reprehensible and potentially illegal behaviour of the tabloids in court.

An interview with William in 2004, here he also says they have disagreements:

There's lots of interviews with little digs at Harry, like this:Have you been impressed by the start Prince Harry has made with his charity work? He's pinched all [the best ideas] of mine!

I remember that interview! It wasn't a "dig", it was very clearly a joke, and they both laughed.
Pre-Meghan there were several interviews with the pair of them where they both did this sort of backchat. Both laughing. Just like brothers do.

Perhaps this is why William misses Harry so much? Didn't Dianna say that Harry would always be William's "wing-man"?

Telling "his story" especially when some parts are...dubious, actually gives the Press more power over him. They go out of their way to correct his errors/untruths. And his legal goings-on must be costing a fortune.

If they'd gone to the U.S. lived a quiet life with their children, maybe a smaller house, so that they wouldn't be so strapped for cash?

Harry would have been happy with that. Meghan, perhaps not

Don't worry I am

I talked of them being different characters, and of them being interviewed and William talking over Harry but there was nothing wrong with that because that's what siblings do but you can have siblings with very different upbringings even though in the same family. And you can have character clashes

You obviously read it first time round
