The Sun have got hold of a copy of the book that was accidently put on sale in Spain. They are clearly skimming it as fast as possible with a translator. They are reporting that W&H begged KC not to marry C, and that he thought she was leaking stories to the press.

Bloody hell.

@Roussette

I just wonder if saying the number out loud makes him more of a target, and could he in a moment of recklessness thought ‘they will have to give me security now’

He has been so focused on getting security, he might have thought this was a way to get it

lemmein · 05/01/2023 20:03

His comments according to Sky are sombre and reflective, not boastful at all, speaking, as any thoughtful soldier does, about the pitiful necessity of war. The number 25 is one he forced himself to confront as part of taking accountability for his actions. Here is how Sky translated it.

Thanks for that @MrsMaxDeWinter - just goes to show, context is key. We all know though that 'harry bragged he killed 25 afghanis' will be repeated forever on here and in the tabloids and eventually (almost immediately) it'll be presented as fact, just like the 'they wanted their privacy' line is.

MrsPutnamNaomiDarling · 05/01/2023 20:03

It was certainly stupid to say it.

Roussette · 05/01/2023 20:03

the DM is really not that influential for the vast majority

Sadly it is. It has a massive online following too

@Americano75 what because he said him and wills begged him not to marry ? I don't think so plus they both attended the wedding so guess put that one to bed

I'm not sure that someone who married a divorcee should speak against others getting remarried.

healthadvice123 · 05/01/2023 20:06

@lemmein he still never needed to put a number on it and its risky he is not joe bloogs the soldier

Blip · 05/01/2023 20:12

Rousette "For once I agree with you. He could've talked about having to kill as an active soldier, and how it weighed on his mind, but the number was out of order and he shouldn't have done that."

It's his truth, I thought you were all for that?

Do you ever stop making it personal? No, thought not.

Let me comment on here without the continual swipes at me. It's really boring.

lemmein · 05/01/2023 20:14

Can I say @healthadvice123 although I don't agree with you on this I do respect your take on it. I agree that if you're in the public sphere people will have an opinion on your actions/words - I don't like Lorraine Kelly but acknowledge I don't know her and she's probably perfectly nice IRL Grin It's the venom I disagree with; they might be mildly/very annoying, they might even tell the odd lies on occasion, I don't know, but none of that justifies the amount of hatred aimed at them. Nobody, aside from murderers/abusers deserves the shit they get.

I do like the way you put your point across though - you're going to be my favourite H&M critic from now on Grin

I don't think anyone is horrified by those killed in war. That is sadly what happens. But why say it, why put a number to his 'kills'. It is grotesque, stupid and I would suggest provocative to anyone with extremist views.

That he had killed during his deployment is not new - first reported in 2013

What is new is the figure, so it's unsuprising that that is what is being most reported

MrsMaxDeWinter · 05/01/2023 20:15

Roussette · 05/01/2023 19:59

@Roussette if you read the quote properly, and I am sure there will be more in the book, it is about facing the number head on. He could have said, I know the number, as I have had to face it, and not be afraid of it.

But I did say many moons ago that his ghost is VERY good at getting under the skin of his subjects, taking a therapeutic approach to the process. I am not surprised that it went this deep, but appreciate your point, while also seeing his.

Just wondering what all those posters who were talking about Harry as not being a real soldier and spending all his time watching TV and playing computer games are now thinking.

You are incredibly personal about somebody you don't know and haven't met. Whatever your points are, if any, are being lost in your insults and you are coming across as a bit unhinged frankly.

Time to take a break and shutdown the laptop eh.............

My views are all based on words out of his own book.

Gloating about not being as bald as your brother is really unhinged, immature and nasty.

Can you imagine? Anyone with GCSE Spanish in that office must be being treated like royalty right now! Bet they've put everyone on overtime. 😂

There's no one at The Sun with English GCSE........

@healthadvice123 is a good egg. Always measured, which is so nice to see in a critic!!

And look, I disagreed with you and @Roussette!

It will be truly weird to hear Prince Harry narrate his own audiobook of the details of his losing his virginity in his own voice. Why would he want to do this? I wonder if his publisher insisted it was necessary in order to pick up the pay cheque?

What other earthly reason could there be? He has reduced himself to a figure of fun. How can he ever work again?

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 05/01/2023 20:19

Especially when you are younger and your bald future is gleaming ahead of you.

healthadvice123 · 05/01/2023 20:20

@lemmein I don't hate them to be honest , I actually think meghan was so unprepared and saying things to Kate like baby brain efc , not ok to someone you don't know but you know what its the sort of thing I would prob say - foot in mouth moment etc
I dislike the selling of all the stories as I don't think it bods well for anyone and I don't think its helping them either long term
Harry also strikes me as a very troubled person and obvuooulsy he lost his mother in a very public way but people forget William did to and he had more pressure on him than Harry did really
Its just a sad situation really but they need to stop now really and move on, they have a good life , money , they seem to love each other and have two beautiful children and they need to focus on that and move forward now i think as they aren't winning people over .

Agree about @healthadvice123 I so much prefer reading proper discussion posts because a few years ago, there were quite a few middle of the road/slightly critical of H&M posters who brought up some very valid points that made for discussion. They stopped posting unfortunately

MrsMaxDeWinter, Roussette, I think everyone understands that people are going to get killed in a war. It just seems so incredibly stupid for him to go on about the number of people he killed, even though he has reflected on his actions, when one of the reasons Harry and Meghan left the UK was for security issues.

If I was them I'd be really concerned about some nutjob taking offence at what he'd written and deciding they were going to wreak revenge. It's not as if no-one knows where he lives for heaven's sake. It would be unbelievable if Meghan hadn't read the book - I cannot for the life of me understand why she'd ok the inclusion of this bit. Monumentally stupid.

Taytocrisps · 05/01/2023 20:27

Harry should be discussing all of his issues in private, with an accredited therapist, with a view to healing past hurts/resentments and moving on with his life. Instead, he seems to be caught in a vicious circle - unleashing his anger and hurt over and over again, in a very public manner.

Whether you're Team Harry and Meghan or Team Charles/William/Kate (or somewhere in between), it's really tragic that these two brothers (who should be so close) have fallen out with each other. And it has implications for the next generation too - two sets of cousins growing up on opposite sides of the Atlantic, with minimal contact. I feel especially sorry for Archie and Lilibet since both of their parents are estranged from their respective families (with the exception of Doria). I'm sorry there was nobody (close friend or trusted advisor) who could act as a mediator when the issues first arose. It will be very difficult to bridge a rift of that magnitude.

If my DHs brother pushed him to the ground in anger I'd be fucking livid.

indeed.

And yet his spouse was merely ‘sad’.

Perhaps she was filming it all?

Blip · 05/01/2023 20:27

The baldness dig was hilarious. Harry is clearly spending the proceeds of his book on non stop hair transplants.
