Whatever next?
I try to avoid these stories but why say this now?

I would like to know what William was wearing to this party. Probably on a par with a Nazi uniform but it never made it in to the papers mysteriously enough.

Clearly didn't read the article because that article literally is "the papers" and they've stated exactly what he was wearing. He was dressed as a lion, wearing some kind of leotard. I'm sure you'll find a reason why dressing as a lion is "on par" to dressing as a Nazi.

IF it’s true, definite shades of this moment from Friends:

😂😂😂😂

The story has always been that they were all in the fancy dress shop together, and that William and Kate encouraged Harry to choose the Nazi uniform to wear.
Personally I think this is true. The whole family appears racist and this would just be seen as a bit of a joke amongst that sort of crowd.

You think they actually all went to a fancy dress shop? 😂

ArcaneWireless · 05/01/2023 13:04

He must think we all button up the back.

😂😂if only someone had said it to Harry sooner😂
And ‘Willy’ and ‘Harold’ …? That should give the wives the ick!!

SirMingeALot · 05/01/2023 13:44

This isn't a very intelligent move on his part.

Because Harry has a documented history of stupid racist shit, he's previously tried to address this by saying he's learning from his mistakes and showing contrition. Well, the ones he's not sweeping under the carpet anyway. In this particular instance, he's already said he met with the Cheif Rabbi and Holocaust survivors, learned a lot, humbled etc. That was the PR angle: owning it, doing the work and becoming better.

Which means that even if the accusation is true, he'd have done better not to come out with it now. It just looks like he's trying to deflect responsibility elsewhere.

This is something that puzzles me having been in therapy for family estrangement since May 2020.
My therapist advised me not to send a letter id written on the basis that id have to deal with the backlash from the letter before id dealt with the wounds I do have (betrayal).

Going on oprah, giving interviews, netflix et cetera, that's like a letter but ten fold!!! Could there possibly be a therapist who would tell him that this is a good idea.

A therapist would identify the wound(s) and help him heal, not let him believe that publicly getting his side out there would help him heal.
I'm no expert but I feel like the 4k of therapy I had helped me a lot Harry has not put the work in I don't think.

YY I feel the same. I've been to therapy and one was rubbish but the others were great. It was hard work. It's still hard work. But it was also transformative. Nothing that Harry has publicly done in the last few years points to healing or growing or acceptance.

My thoughts exactly!

He really takes no responsibility for anything at all - everything is someone else's fault. The whinging has gone on for far too long. Surely one day he will look back on all of this palaver and feel excruciatingly embarrassed.

Kate and William lived together long before they married.

Not in 2005. They split up in 2007.

BedfordBloo · 05/01/2023 13:53

The big issue with Harry and Meghan is that they simply aren't very intelligent but they won't listen to others. So, regardless of who is wrong between H&M and the rest of the Royals, the Royals are listening to the people who have years and years and years of experience in how to make yourselves look good in the press and keep your bad traits (we all have them) out of the public eye. H&M are refusing to listen to those professionals on multiple occasions and so the gaps in their story are showing so, even on the occasions where they do listen (like the scripted Oprah interview or the Netflix documentary etc) you can spot the lies and pick out the inconsistencies or contrast between the different tones and moods. It makes them look awful. They either need to actually whole-heartedly follow the advice of the professionals that they're paying to make them look good to the media or they need to cut their media contact entirely so they stop spiralling. H&M are lying - that's a given and it's a fact - but about how much we don't know for sure. The other side aren't lying because they aren't saying anything at all. By showing themselves to be liars, they're making themselves look worse than if they said nothing. This shit-show is the reason why reputation management is such an important and lucrative area...but unfortunately, those who're failing at it tend to live in an echo chamber where they only look at the people buying it and so convince themselves that they're doing it well (not dissimilar to Trump).

Hopefully there can be some reflection on all sides - but, yes, as PP said, they must think we zip up at the back (and judging by some of the comments on this thread, maybe some of us do).

MotherOfHouseplants · 05/01/2023 13:55

It wasn't a 'bad taste' party (and based on the ones held at my university you would wear something much more shocking than a nazi uniform to those). It was Natives and Colonials, because of course that is fiiiiiiine.

Best quote ever. No more needs to be said really.

Snazzysausage · 05/01/2023 14:07

No doubt the full claim will be that William and Catherine made him hire the costume then wrestled him into it and shoved him out the door. I expect he protested loudly throughout that it wasn't appropriate but they ignored him. Obviously at 20 he had no say in it and they were bigger and stronger than him. And if you believe this you'll believe any old tosh.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/01/2023 14:10

Not having read and not intending to read "Spare", I am vaguely interested to know whether Harry mentions in it his friendship with Kanye West. I know there is a picture somewhere of the two of them enjoying a laugh together at a memorial concert for Harry's mother in 2007. But will Ye's current unfortunate running at the mouth mean he got left out of the tell-all memoir?

peerie · 05/01/2023 14:15

What a creepy little tell-tale buck passing toad Harold is <boke>

Mumskisail · 05/01/2023 14:16

Typical Harry, blames everyone else and never takes accountability

15-20 years i moved in a similar (not the same!) Social circle as this. I knew people who knew them would be the closest to it... althoughmy boyfriend of the time did party with Harry on a few occasions!

But... Bad Taste, S&M, and other such fancy dress themes did happen. A lot of careers could be ruined if photographs exist (but they don't, as people realised how potentially damaging they could be). It was stupidity really. They all thought they were being funny. Lots of people didn't dress up, but did laugh... looking back, it really wasn't funny. But these people I know who did are notvracists or bigots.

So I can well believe that Harry, Kate and William were all naive and stupid enough to find it "funny" back then.

If photos of the MedSoc Bad Taste Bops from my university were ever to emerge the NHS would lose a significant proportion of its consultants overnight. We are talking medical students dressed us as the twin towers, Gary Glitter, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman...

Which side do we think the Nazi uniform represented though….

Reminds me of the Private Eye headline at the time.

For a couple that really value their privacy they go about it in a very unusual way...

I’m not s huge fan of piers morgan but he did a video and said this exact thing. About if they want privacy why did they do a 100,000,000 Netflix documentary!

Can you imagine the face on the ghost writer when he said he fell into a dog bowl? 😂😂😂

Im afraid I just burst out laughing when I heard this on the radio.

I wonder if it was a corgi's bowl? (awaits H's next move in his spiralling "woe is me" story: to blame the deceased Queen for it being there and injuring him lol).
