Whatever next?
I try to avoid these stories but why say this now?

The ironic thing is that there is a very very very easy way to make Harry and Meghan go away as so many Mumsnet posters say they want. All that is necessary is to completely ignore them.

If the press didn’t publish anything about them, people didn’t watch/read/listen to what they have to say (and nobody started threads about them on Mumsnet) Netflix and whoever their publisher is would have no interest in them because no engagement means no money.

They could still use social media but that takes an effort to visit and people could just … not.

Of course, that would mean the press not making any more money off them so I can’t see it happening any time soon. I note too that the press publish their claims in detail before decrying them, so they get to have it both ways. They publish the claims against the RF at length but do a brief paragraph at the start and finish saying they don’t believe them.

Will this manchild never take responsibility for his own actions? Everything is always always someone else’s fault.

My thoughts exactly - he really plays the victim.

SirChenjins · 05/01/2023 11:43

So if we are to believe the rumours, when Harry was an adult of 20 he picked a Nazi uniform and a pilot uniform as possible contenders for a bad taste party. His 22 year old brother said something along the lines said ‘go with the Nazi one’ . Harry said ‘OK, thanks, good choice’.

Then when Harry was an even older adult he made several racist slurs off his own bat.

Am I missing something here - ‘cos it sounds like Harry is pretty much admitting publicly to having very poor judgment and racist tendencies.

MistletoeandBaileys · 05/01/2023 11:44

If William had worn anything racist or something that could be perceived to cause controversy Harry would have damn sure put it in the book.

He was 20. William 22. Of course siblings set each other off but Jesus you can’t blame everyone for your piss poor decisions over your whole entire life.

He has made himself look like an actual idiot.

Can you imagine the face on the ghost writer when he said he fell into a dog bowl? 😂😂😂

But but William thought it was hilarious so he's just as bad "he made me do it "

vera99 · 05/01/2023 11:52

As shit soap operas go this is the best. Meghan should twerk a response to Kate's buttoned up middle England Rose shtick.

Favouritefruits · 05/01/2023 11:53

I can’t stand this anymore, it’s like watching a a slow motion car crash, he must be seriously unwell and the media are egging him on. It’ll all end in tears.

BradfordGirl · 05/01/2023 10:40

The story has always been that they were all in the fancy dress shop together, and that William and Kate encouraged Harry to choose the Nazi uniform to wear.
Personally I think this is true. The whole family appears racist and this would just be seen as a bit of a joke amongst that sort of crowd.

Apparently he phoned them to ask.

Perhaps they suggested it & didn't think he'd actually do it?

Either way it was his decision!

bakalava · 05/01/2023 11:54

Never has a thread filled up so fast as that one! It is still so heavily one sided that it brings us into closer contact with THEIR truth which is a bit different from THE truth because past experience has shown that their recollections vary from that of the majority of persons involved (or at least a wise woman thought so).

Shelefttheweb · 05/01/2023 11:58

But but William thought it was hilarious

If we follow Harry’s logic then that would be Harry’s fault; William could say “he made me laugh”

diddl · 05/01/2023 11:59

The problem (imo) with mud slinging is that although it may make the other person look bad it still doesn't necessarily make you look good.

Even if you believe that Willy assaulted Harold it still begs the question of why not get out straight away rather than try to force a half in half out.

bakalava · 05/01/2023 11:59

What Harry does reveal about himself through the information which he shares is that he did not have the type of personality and resilience to succeed in a military career. I suppose the next book will be how he was forced onto that path by the RF because stacking shelves at Iceland was not an option. I fear that Harry (who is generally lovely as a social being) is digging himself into a hole here.
The only logical next step is the release/leaking of the bullying report to provide some balance without turning it into a full on RL episode of Jerry Springer.

Scarfweather · 05/01/2023 12:02

Wah, wah, wah…nothing is my fault. Everyone else made me do it.
Give me more attention. But of course, I don’t want attention….
Hold my beer while I make even more money spilling bile on my family and work my way up to a mental breakdown when I realise later what I’ve done and that my wife encouraged it.

musingsinmidlife · 05/01/2023 12:03

Receollections may vary widely....

I think the RF are best to maintain their previous stance of silence.

bakalava · 05/01/2023 12:04

I doubt that William's frustrations will damage him in any way. Kings and heirs have never been nice and cute. Especially in times as we are living in now, I think the populace feel reassured that their future king will take no shit and call out bullies. I don't think more than 10% of the population want a king that stands for all the beliefs promoted by the Sussex Squad.
However, there is a massive amount of bias in the media which misleads people into thinking that those ideas are more widely embraced than they really are.

This allegation has been around for ages. It is not new.

Ive read this before too. Years ago.
Wonder who leaked it…. 🤔

Coyoacan · 05/01/2023 12:08

I can't stand the Royal family, but I hate the fact that he thinks none of them are entitled to any kind of privacy.

William wore an extremely racist ‘African chief’ outfit. Please point to where it has been mentioned in the press multiple times over the intervening 20 years the way the Nazi costume was (or where William issued a public apology for wearing it). If not, that’s a difference in the way they were treated.

Apparently the book says a William wore a lion costume, including leotard.

IntentionalError · 05/01/2023 12:08

I don’t believe a word of it, because I do not believe a single word that Harry or Meghan say about anything.

saffronrabbit · 05/01/2023 12:10

Not taking full responsibility makes him look unrepentant, trying to blame & W for his poor decision makes it look like he isn't very sorry at all.

No self awareness- there's no working with people like this.

TrashyPanda · 05/01/2023 12:12

He has zero concept of personal responsibility.

what a pathetic man-child.

harry - you were a grown man who made a fucking stupid decision to dress up as a bloody Nazi. Grow the fuck up and accept it was racist and offensive and that you would have to live under a rock not to realise that.

the more he whinges, the stupider he looks.
which is saying something.

he has made himself a complete laughing stock with no credibility. odious little twerp.

what the hell is he going to blame William for next?

wilkos · 05/01/2023 12:13

I am no fan of H&M, but since reading it was apparently a 'native and colonial' themed party I have no words as to what either of them were doing there, or how anyone could justify holding such an event

None of these white, privileged bunch of tossers should be in the positions of public life they currently inhabit.

No he didn’t.

that was another person entirely.

So why didn’t Harold say “ no way”.
Why was a Nazi uniform even considered ?
