Whatever next?
I try to avoid these stories but why say this now?

He isn’t ‘saying it now’, this version of events has been circulating for years.

If he wants to use it as evidence for the difference in the way he is treated by the press to the way William is, I think that’s reasonable.

People can’t have it both ways - he doesn’t give examples and it’s ‘where’s the evidence, point to occasions where this has occurred’. He does give examples and it’s ‘that’s soooo long ago, why is he bringing it up now?’

Shelefttheweb · 05/01/2023 10:45

But who decided to go for it and who wore it?

But who decided to go for it and who wore it?

And he’s admitted that and apologised. That doesn’t mean the circumstances around him wearing it aren’t relevant to the point he is making about the press trashing him and carefully hiding the sins of William and Kate.

Shelefttheweb · 05/01/2023 10:48

William and Kate haven’t worn a Nazi uniform to a party so where is the evidence they would be treated differently?

The story has always been that they were all in the fancy dress shop together, and that William and Kate encouraged Harry to choose the Nazi uniform to wear.
Personally I think this is true. The whole family appears racist and this would just be seen as a bit of a joke amongst that sort of crowd.

But surely anyone with a bit of common sense (so, not Harry I guess) would just say 'hell no!'. He was not a child, he is responsible for his actions.

And as for 'the whole family appears racist' - I really hate this kind of slandering. No doubt some of them are, but I have several family members who are awful, and would hate to be tarred by their opinions/ behaviour.

Also, how come the whole RF can be lumped in together as one homogenous monster whose motivations can be assumed, but not other people.

H&M's motivations or 'truth' needs to always be their own, but we can just assume everyone else's? Surely that would mean Harry and Meghan are just as bad as their families as well? I mean the whole family is shit right, so they come included.

Or are they just the special ones who always need to be excused?

William wore an extremely racist ‘African chief’ outfit. Please point to where it has been mentioned in the press multiple times over the intervening 20 years the way the Nazi costume was (or where William issued a public apology for wearing it). If not, that’s a difference in the way they were treated.

This doesn't make sense - he wore it, and apologised - so his sins are apparently forgiven (never your fault Harry eh?).
But someone who encouraged him to wear it should still be punished for their sins? Why? If it was a suggestion, albeit a bad one, why is that person somehow the bad guy here?

Lunde · 05/01/2023 10:54

Harry clearly has no brain of his own

StrapOnYourHeroHair · 05/01/2023 10:57

WinnieTheW0rm · 05/01/2023 10:30

Hadn't seen this one.

I find it a bit weird/implausible.

But if true (in the normal sense of the word, not 'his' version): then does he not realise that the buck stops with him to exercise his own judgement?

This! The accountability is on Harry and Harry alone - even if Kate and William did say it. He was a grown man and fully responsible for his own actions at that age.

I’ve literally never heard Harry or Meghan take accountability for anything.

No one is saying one is worse than the other - the point is that the press treat Harry’s behaviour as being worse than William’s when it really isn’t.

Also, either Harry has sins to forgive or something isn’t his fault. He can’t be simultaneously guilty and not guilty. In this case, he has publicly said he is guilty and apologised. William hasn’t done the same about either encouraging him to wear the Nazi outfit or thinking racist ‘African chief’ costumes are in any way appropriate.

BradfordGirl · 05/01/2023 11:00

Harry has apologised for wearing the uniform.
It was his decision he was 20 years old.
I believe William, Kate and his friends encouraged him.

Nah he was dressed up as a leopard. According to Harry, anyway.

JanusTheFirst · 05/01/2023 11:00

Oh dear. Sad little prince. Never his or his wife's fault. Spoilt brat.

Please someone make it stop

You don't have to read it so you can make it stop..

There was possibly laughter due to Harry coming up with two very strange ideas for the theme of the party. And how could a young newborn remember what his Dad said on the day of his birth?!!

Well it definitely isn't his wife's fault as he hadn't met her.

There were two parties. One William was dressed as a leopard. It is the other party there are allegations around.

Shelefttheweb · 05/01/2023 11:14

Also Kate was just a girlfriend in the scenario, and they were both princes and grandsons of the Queen. Somewhat of an imbalance of power don’t you think? Harry, as a member of a powerful family, blaming his actions on a young woman who was just dating his brother?

Exactly. If William had been wearing anything that could be said to have been racist himself, one thing we can be sure of is that Harry would have mentioned it. So, no blackface (as another poster has vehemently asserted in that past) and no “African Chief” outfit.

GlitchStitch · 05/01/2023 11:16

I was quite impressed with Harry taking ownership of this on the Netflix show and apologising for it. That's all been undone now by him trying to blame others for it.

Apparently there were quite a few errors of consistency that had to be addressed between the book and the Netflix show.

Cherryblossoms85 · 05/01/2023 11:21

I think Harry should look up external locus of control, and maybe reflect on why he believes the world is done to him. "Look what you made me do" is not a good look.

That is a sweeping statement and one I strongly disagree with
I'm Indian came to the UK when 2 yrs old in the 60's and I've never felt like that about anyone. Harry wearing the Nazi uniform IMO was aimed to attract attention without realizing the consequences of this uniform.

I really like Prince Phillip for his wit etc and Kate and Wills for being very, very nice to all

When is he going to take responsibility for himself ? I mean he was a grown man at a "bad taste" party . The man is an absolute tool!
