Meghan and Harry are playing a bigger game - the people’s prince and princess and they are winning.

Well if they want to be the people's prince & princess of course they are winning-no one is competing for that.

Applesonthelawn · 03/01/2023 07:58

Interesting comparison between Harry and Diana in MalagaNights's post which I agree with. Unfortunately he's also got some of Charles's characteristics: self-importance, jealous when others get the attention and whiny. Charles was all of that when married to Diana but comes across better now he's with Camilla. For Harry, it's an unhappy combination. The only good quality he inherited was Diana's easy/charming way with people. He's only marginally more photogenic than the young Charles too which doesn't help from a press perspective.

Highly recommend The Behaviour Panel's analysis on the Netflix series.

They aren’t though. Many celebs who initially supported them are distancing themselves from them now and polls about public opinion show their popularity is at an all time low and people are getting thoroughly tired of their whining- especially at a time of financial difficulty for most people. Variety magazine who initially supported them slated their documentary in the USA.

Ye ..and they are whining might be more apt here

I don't think they are at all. You only have to listen to the responses to their docuseries on YouTube or TikTok to realise that.

If you're trying to compare this 'peoples' part to princess diana, this phrase was created by the media, I haven't seen one outlet ever referring to M&H as this, the media, although hounded Diana, loved her, a high percentage of things written about her were positive, M&H are a far cry from this.

He wants them back as he’s run out of material and needs new fodder for Netflix

😂😂😂

Apparently Tescos has reduced the cost of Harry’s book spare down to £8 from
£28 because interest is so poor! Lol

The British Royal family will decline over time. Not dramatically but through inertia which is the British way. Once the coronation is over there won't be any jubilees or weddings for quite some time (or extra bank holidays) and the public will mostly be uninterested - the one thing the bot got right was that the cost of living crisis will mean people are less interested in bloated pageantry. The institution will continue but become less and less relevant to most people's everyday lives.

Ironically Harry & Meghan could have worked this in their favour by being a positive, glamorous couple campaigning for good causes. The media generally would have also capitalised by promoting the idea of a sexier less-staid alternative royal family across pond.

It just makes it even crazier for them to have whinged and whinged.

Greatly · 03/01/2023 08:19

People loved and were fascinated by the queen's funeral?

Blip · 03/01/2023 08:20

M&H are less winning at life more whining at life.

Yeh I doubt this is the case. The funeral picked up support for monarchy

Greatly · 03/01/2023 08:20

And I doubt many British people are interested in a "sexier" royalty in the USA! You've got it the wrong way round.

I’d be embarrassed to have that in my basket (I’d have to go through self-checkout). Buying that book is like having a sign over your head saying ‘I’m very gullible and have no critical thinking skills’.

Lockupyourbiscuits · 03/01/2023 08:39

I think what he meant was
I want ( to get ) my father and brother back ( for being mean )

Who is this? 🤣🤣

Got me confused for a second there. I see what you're doing.😆

Oh, Mumsnet!

Yes. Seems like I have a No.1 fan. I'm flattered!

To have a real live copycat is really quite something, how satisfying to make such an impact, I think I must be an influencer! 🤣😂

Maximinimalist · 03/01/2023 01:59

Certain segments, very noisy segments of the UK population hate Harry and Meghan so there was a no point engaging. Enjoy your echo chamber here. There is a bigger world out there. I’ll follow Harry’s and Meghan’s approach. Accept the mumsnet crowd is a lost cause and let them entertain themselves with their hatred.

Still Harry and Meghan thrive. Still they rise.

Totally agree. This is an echo chamber and no point in coming on here @Maximinimalist because all posters can do is launch personal attacks and ridicule anyone who doesn't agree with them.

Well, given that one credit on audible is 7 pounds/8 euro this was inevitable I think! People just want the revelations, they don't want in on their coffee table for five years! Well, can't speak for everyone, they do have their fans.
I won't be buying it on audible though, even though I have two credits to use!
Poor Harry, I reckon this book is going to make him look even more bitter and vulnerable. But he'll have his 34 million.

Just too out there to convince

I stand by what I said earlier. They’re on the brink of divorce, in fact a quick google shows some sources which claim they have already split.

This has been reported abroad and not here which stands to reason. The British press aren’t going to report at this stage that the marriage is over, it will be far better to report the fact that Harry wants his family back. But has anyone noticed that Meggan has disappeared from the spotlight?

yes Harry has his book, but Meggan has become awfully quiet in the past few weeks, and that’s just not like her.

I give it six months max before they announce their split.

Nonsense, the British Press would report this, why wouldn't they. If they're not reporting it, it's because it's not true.

I don't think it will be a long and happy marriage because they are both damaged people but for now they are still together that's obvious. It's not that long since the walk about and they were clearly still together then. They ring fenced their assets because if one is sued then the other's assets are safe.

My mother is like MM, always the victim, never wrong, she can hurt you but you can't ask her to stop, zero capacity for self-reflection. My father is a weak man who enables her and enjoys being her rescuer in situations she has made up. It is uncanny. My Dad lost his mum at 7. They have been together 55 years.

Blip · 03/01/2023 08:58

"Still they rise "
Did you mean "still they tell lies?"

What you are doing is going against TG. You cannot call a poster a bot just because @Maximinimalist doesn't agree with you.
She has posted on other threads not connected with M&H.

Someone talked elsewhere about anti H&M posters being hounded off of threads. This is what you are doing on here.

Lockupyourbiscuits · 03/01/2023 09:11

“””Totally agree. This is an echo chamber and no point in coming on here @Maximinimalist because all posters can do is launch personal attacks and ridicule anyone who doesn't agree with them.”””

But in fact this contradicts the echo chamber theory - you have a different view
You are simply in the minority- nothing dramatic

Greatly · 03/01/2023 09:13

I don't think @Maximinimalist is a bot but definitely doesn't sound as though they are from the uk. USA or Canada i would have said but what do i know?

Serenster · 03/01/2023 09:14

I find Harry’s position - that his family has shown no willingness to reconcile- quite risible really. Things that we know have happened:

  • When Megan and Harry gave the “no-one has asked me if I’m okay” interviews in South Africa William said he’d clear his diary to spend time with Harry. Harry said no.
  • When Harry and Meghan were unhappy that they weren’t in the procession at the 2020 Commonwealth Service, William and Kate decided not to join it as advertised to appease them.
  • When they did the Oprah interview, William reached out to his brother with a text. We know that because the Sussexes filmed receiving it and their reaction to it for their Netflix show.
  • when the Queen died William invited the Sussexes to come and meet the public at Windsor with him.
  • when they did the grandchildren’s vigil, William left the ornate gold braid that signified his aide de camp status to the Queen, off his uniform - a status that Harry no longer held and so wasn’t entitled to wear even though he’d been allowed to wear a uniform (William wore it for all other funeral events).

In response to all of these Harry and Meghan have continued to whine, complain and paint themselves as victims and continue to throw barbs at his family while trying to take the moral high ground and say no/ one has attempted to offer any olive branches. Patently not the case.

I think the Royal Family have done entirely the right thing here in not rising to any of the bait. As many have said of Meghan, that she was right to cut her toxic father out of her life, as he wouldn’t stop talking to the press about her, the same applies to the Windsors here. The Sussexes are clearly toxic, and the family are best to entirely ignore them.
