The anti-Harry and Meghan crowd exists in an echo chamber devoid of the reality around them. Harry and Meghan are winning the global hearts and they don’t care that the BM is against them. The Royal Family and the BM can enjoy the little battles they think they are winning. Why would Meghan and Harry try to woo the BM and it’s followers when they already know it’s a lost cause.

Meghan and Harry are playing a bigger game - the people’s prince and princess and they are winning.

When the Royal Family supporters are painted as those who at the same time are Trump loving, right-wing, Deep South racists, then the Royal Family’s image is just going down the pan. Across the globe the Royal Family has an image problem and no one has forgotten what they did to Diana. Queen Consort Camilla’s presence makes this even worse.

Thanks also to Jeremy Clarkson and Camilla chumminess with him and his kind, the Royal Family is just looking stupider and stupider outside of Britain.

Even China is now making a mockery of us.

Besides that, I live in a Commonwealth country and don't know a single person who likes, let alone cares about H and M. Can't remember the last time I ever saw an item about them on the news.

I think it's Harry who is like Diana not Meghan.

Diana was not academic but had a natural way of interacting and connecting with people.
Like Harry.

Diana was emotionally fragile and easily manipulated by people.
Like Harry.

Diana had naïve romantic notions of love which she tried to fulfill in unrealistic relationships.
Harry thinks he's fulfilling this now but it's in such a naive clichéd way which doesn't feel real or sustainable.

Diana became paranoid and believed the firm were out to get her.
Like Harry.

Diana believed telling her truth would garner sympathy and was manipulated by journos into believing this.
Like Harry.

Diana was a tragic figure.
Which Harry may sadly become.

I don't think this is because of MM I think some tragedy/ drama may have played out whoever he was with, because of him.

It's because of MM it's taking this particular path/ story.

I quite agree with this; he is infact her son, so it makes sense that he's naturally like her.

He may still see a bit of his mum in MM though.

Harry and Meghan does not care about the UK market. They are global. They have made their peace long ago that they are hated by the BM and that single fact is what gave the freedom to speak out. Nothing to lose with the British public. Absolutely nothing when their response and position is so well known.

Their prize is a global audience an audience who believes in social mobility and equal. An audience that believes in financial independence, n breaking from colonial past. Unfortunately for Britain it is stuck in the past which are in direct opposition to modern values. Now this wouldn’t matter too much if Britain was in its ascendancy. Sadly its influence is waning and very very few people submit to fairytales and classism.

One side is on the wrong side of history and it is not Harry and Meghan. For good or ill, they have successfully painted the BM and the Royal Family as being in bed with each other and that has resonated across the world. They are definitely winning the war. The BM may run little battles here and there with the constant streams of nonsense and the Palace leanings but that war is being fought for a global audience and the BM and the Royal Family are losing.

Canada is next on the cards to give Charles the boot. I just read an article where there is a call to arms for the Caribbean Commonwealth to be vocal in defending Meghan. The US is largely on the side of Meghan. Africa, India, etc. The former colonies are not playing ball with these reminders from the Royal Family of its racist, colonialist mentality.

Royality is for Britain. One stuck in the colonial past.

Quite keen to keep a hold of those "racist, colonial" titles though aren't they?🙄

Let's see them ditch them and your argument might carrry some weight.

Certain segments, very noisy segments of the UK population hate Harry and Meghan so there was a no point engaging. Enjoy your echo chamber here. There is a bigger world out there. I’ll follow Harry’s and Meghan’s approach. Accept the mumsnet crowd is a lost cause and let them entertain themselves with their hatred.

You are just making stuff up now. Where in my post did I say that I thought the love for the RF was on the rise?

Your whole argument is based on the fact that H&M are the catalyst for the world's republicans to unite.

Let them ditch the symbols of said hated insitution and you have an argument.

And as for making money, of course they have a right to do that but if you think that Netflix and the like would be handing them £100million based on what they have actually done in their lives so far, rather than who his birth parents are then I am not the one living in fantasy land.

I agree he does need to stop giving interviews. These upcoming two interviews with Tom Bradby and Anderson Cooper in the US are to coincide with the launch of his book and I am sure are part of the book contract he signed. The Netflix and book deals have raked them in millions (£100 million - or is that dollars? - for Netflix and I have seen approx £20 million for the book). I am fairly sure his PR team will be tellojg him and Meghan to move onto new subjects after this as they must be aware even those who are open to hearing their story - particularly their target American market - will be losing interest rapidly if the record never changes.

But he couldn't get a job. He was a senior royal and any attempt to be independent would likely have had bad results. (Evidence currently happening).

He has taken a very adversarial position though so not surprising it’s causing a lot of consternation and potentially a bad move long term. All depends how the American market respond to the Netflix and book deals. They still had a lot of support after the Oprah interview but these two deals over and above and all about the same thing might have cooked the goose or it might have not. Of course this position he has chosen has earned him and Meghan a lot lot lot of money, but from where I am standing (I don’t have all the details of what went on with him and father and brother, none of us do) the non financial cost seems great. Of course if his relationship with his family is truly toxic then low to no contact might be the right decision, but I don’t get the impression that is the case more disagreements.

I wonder if he and Meghan had chosen to live quietly in the US or elsewhere doing philanthropy work and not airing out their dirty laundry they would have had less money but more peace and most importantly still a relationship with their respective families. I expect King Charles would have given them financial support and then Harry’s own inheritance and Meghan’s money from her acting days.

People thriving and rising do not plant themselves armpit deep in the mire.

Truly happy people do not seek to stir up angst or unhappiness wherever they go. They’d just crack on living the best they can.

Someone is making a mint off the backs of two fairly troubled people.

Yes they too have gained financially. But at what cost? It seems they are being advised to be victims. That isn’t healthy or helpful.

I stand by what I said earlier. They’re on the brink of divorce, in fact a quick google shows some sources which claim they have already split.

This has been reported abroad and not here which stands to reason. The British press aren’t going to report at this stage that the marriage is over, it will be far better to report the fact that Harry wants his family back. But has anyone noticed that Meggan has disappeared from the spotlight?

yes Harry has his book, but Meggan has become awfully quiet in the past few weeks, and that’s just not like her.

I give it six months max before they announce their split.

Certainly not British, and probably not Commonwealth. You do realise that the Commonwealth is a voluntary organisation? Some members have the monarch as Head of State, others choose their own. Some member states were never part of the British Empire. They chose to join. Other states chose to leave.

Did she actually reveal anything/much that people didn't already know?

I think she also came across as manipulative perhaps vindictive so that didn't help.

The mask slipped-as it has done with Harry.

Ultimately I think no one cares about privileged people moaning about their lot.
