I did watch their H&M thing - the clips about slavery from QEI and the commonwealth were pretty much worthy of a scraping a pass in GCSE history.
Some countries left the commonwealth and have asked to rejoin. Some will ask to leave. I was a bit cross about them showing clips from Brexit people marching and implying the country is racist as a whole. So , makes no odds to anyone , I voted remain. Of course there will be racist people in the UK - as there will in the US. Doesn't make everyone so. I thought these clips were a bit distasteful - headlines which were beyond the pale eg Straight Outta Compton - yes dreadful - but surely a matter for the PCC. saying a member of the royal family asked about the baby without naming that person - I thought poor - you have cast doubt over everyone without naming the person. Showing a text from your brother & just a hug from Meghan without any context - I thought poor. They just want "their truth " & without back up not sure why they should be believed ( some examples given above where they should be )

I know that many do not like the RF and I cannot disagree with that - it is a peculiar institution , but I'll bet a pound to a pint of oranges it will outlast H&M's complaints and NF series. & yes the RF will just carry on like a massive ocean liner and M&H will be in their speed boat nipping around for stories and money

Harry and Meghan have simply ignited the dormant anger about this ridiculous institution and the brutality it endorsed but was never held accountable for. All very laudible. Personally I think they did it for the dosh.

derxa · 02/01/2023 18:22

All this being the case, do you really think these interviews and tell all books will make Harry feel better? Honestly?

Probably yes. Why would it not? It must be feel good sucking it to an institution that was arrogant enough to think it was all powerful. What does he have to lose? The love of the British Media and their followers? The support of his brother and father?

Georgeskitchen · 02/01/2023 18:26

I've just watched the 2 interviews on the news. He wants a reconciliation but he's still slagging them off. As quoted by a RF spokesperson: "if Harry wishes to speak to his father, he knows where the King lives "
🤣🤣

Blip · 02/01/2023 18:27

If he really wanted to build bridges with his family he wouldn't be publishing this destructive book.

Apparently he wants the support of his brother and father though? I'm sure his father loves him and would prefer he wasn't estranged.

I'm pretty sure Harry would never have written the book if it wasn't for Meghan. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing tbh!

Yeah he's really 'sucking it to an institution' as a pp suggested isn't he.

Who cares. A reckoning for historical wrongs was well overdue.

People were willing to speak up about the statues and stately homes. The Royal Family was largely off limits until they opened that door with their foolish handling of the British Media and Harry and Meghan.

Reigateforever · 02/01/2023 18:28

They want to break up The Commonwealth. In the NF series they had highlighted paintings and statues, distasteful in this day and age, relating to the RF past and how certain people gained from it.

The RF will go on for many decades yet. H and M will not, I'd imagine they'll be divorced in 10 years.

Wheresthebeach · 02/01/2023 18:30

The only thing they have to sell is being part of the RF. If they really hated it all so much they'd resign their titles and return the evil cash they've been given, or give it all to charity. I'm beginning to think they don't believe a thing they are saying - just saying whatever it takes to get attention and 'build awareness' for MM political career ambitions.

Rhondaa · 02/01/2023 18:31

He's in such a quandary isn't he. He needs the rf connection for his grubby Netflix gossip, but he doesn't want them because they have been mean and are more popular than him.

He's like a teenager constantly slamming doors and shouting at their poor tolerant, exhausted families.

Harry and Meghan are ''sucking at the royal tit'' long and hard.
Milking it dry.
Without the RF, they are nothing.

Don’t be daft. He clearly does not want a relationship with them. In the context, he was about to say a big BUT.

Wish on. When you see the full interview come back here and tell us how that statement really plays in the context.

Harry and Meghan continually makes the BM look like fools. The BM run away with stories after stories based on a single clip. When put in context, thru look like fools. They never learn.

Harry and Meghan owns the BM and owns their followers. You cannot get enough of them and continue to make them rich. They are the one’s laughing. All the way to the bank. Whilst we are seen as backward racists. That is the reality.

JADS · 02/01/2023 18:33

He's got a book to flog and conflict/gossip sells. It's about the money. That's it. It's not that deep. Harry would be naive to think he can control the narrative.

Inkanta · 02/01/2023 18:33

Yep Maximinimalist you're on it. On the nail.

TrashyPanda · 02/01/2023 18:34

Every time Harry opens his mouth he reveals what a spoilt, self-obsessed, stupid, selfish brat he is.

it must be very wearing to live.

Not true but even if true, well played them.

The Royal Tits owe so much to so many. If Meghan is the dream and hope of the slaves (Reg Maya Angelou) sucking on the Royal Tits then they must be laughing in their graves. Amen!

TheFairyCaravan · 02/01/2023 18:35

Without that, he's an army dropout who barely scraped two A levels. She's an at best mediocre cable TV actress who once ran a vacuous lifestyle blog.

Prince Harry served 10yrs and went to war twice. He’s a Veteran, not “an army dropout”. I personally think he should have been allowed to carry on serving in the army, however I’d imagine his father, and brother, had other plans for him within the RF.

I’ve never come across so many batshit people as I have since Prince Harry married Meghan then went on to cease becoming a working royal. So many of you have been hoodwinked buy the media. There’s Piers Morgan and Dan Wootton gleefully gnashing their gums about how the RF have leaked stories to the media, yet somehow the ones with loose lips are Harry and Meghan? Someone make it make sense!

Imo neither side are totally right. The RF are most definitely not beyond reproach and nor are they whiter than white. I think they should have done more to protect Meghan. If they could come out to deny Kate had hair extensions they could have told the press to wind their necks in and stop being so racist.

I don't think your views are very mainstream, in England any way. I think H and M are alienating the British public in a huge way. Of course, they may not give a stuff about that.

The BM is the media I take it. They don’t care as it makes them money. Why would they? It’s an easy sell. People talk about it a lot.

Obviously due to the RF connection, not because Harry and Meghan could do it alone.

Maximinimalist · 02/01/2023 18:36

They=the slaves must be laughing in their graves. I love that poem by Maya Angelou - Still I rise.

Cornettoninja · 02/01/2023 18:37

Not something that particularly bothers the BM (or any form of media) if it’s still generating money. HAM are providing them with effortless profits.

What would actually ‘show them’ is to make successes of their lives without courting media gossip mongers. But that would require effort and a grown up plan so I suppose it’s not as attractive as being a professional victim.

jeffgoldblum · 02/01/2023 18:37

What a complete lot of tosh! , and I cannot believe written by anyone who is truly from the U.K.!

Glindara · 02/01/2023 18:37

Maximinimalist · 02/01/2023 18:01

Harry and Meghan does not care about the UK market. They are global. They have made their peace long ago that they are hated by the BM and that single fact is what gave the freedom to speak out. Nothing to lose with the British public. Absolutely nothing when their response and position is so well known.

Their prize is a global audience an audience who believes in social mobility and equal. An audience that believes in financial independence, n breaking from colonial past. Unfortunately for Britain it is stuck in the past which are in direct opposition to modern values. Now this wouldn’t matter too much if Britain was in its ascendancy. Sadly its influence is waning and very very few people submit to fairytales and classism.

One side is on the wrong side of history and it is not Harry and Meghan. For good or ill, they have successfully painted the BM and the Royal Family as being in bed with each other and that has resonated across the world. They are definitely winning the war. The BM may run little battles here and there with the constant streams of nonsense and the Palace leanings but that war is being fought for a global audience and the BM and the Royal Family are losing.

Canada is next on the cards to give Charles the boot. I just read an article where there is a call to arms for the Caribbean Commonwealth to be vocal in defending Meghan. The US is largely on the side of Meghan. Africa, India, etc. The former colonies are not playing ball with these reminders from the Royal Family of its racist, colonialist mentality.

Royality is for Britain. One stuck in the colonial past.

So why has he struck up a deal with ITV for his interview if the U.K. is not a target market?
