Interesting that Jason Knauf has been honoured in the NY Honours List ( RVO).

I read it was typical for someone with his length of service but I don't know how true that is. I know very little about the honours system. He has been instrumental in putting some key facts about goings on in the royal households into the public domain though (favourable to the RF). So I can see why they'd want to reward him. And that's probably fair enough.

Very interesting indeed!

The final episode of the Harry & Meghan Netflix documentary series featured a written response from both Mr Knauf and the duchess’ legal team.

The film stated: “In response to allegations that Mr Knauf submitted a voluntary witness statement in connection with the Daily Mail litigation with the consent of Prince William’s office, a representative for Mr Knauf sent the following statement:

“These claims are entirely false. Mr Knauf was asked to provide evidence by both the Duchess of Sussex and Associate Newspapers.

Has anyone seen the documentary and confirm this is true?

I found it interesting because I can’t see any awards fit people like Angela Kelly and the tall aide ( forgotten his name ) who were so close to The Queen .
Awarding JK is a slap down to M and H who were clearly gunning for him in their reality show.

Angela Kelly was given the same award back in 2006. She was promoted to a higher rank of the same order later. It’s an award given to people for personal service to the royal family (Samantha Cohen has for example been awarded it and moved up the ranks, all the Queen’s former private secretaries hold the highest rank). So I would imagine this is a completely standard award for his length of service.

I find it really telling how much Jason Knauf is hated by Meghan and Harry’s fans - because he did not want to see the court misled by the Duchess and told the truth. Generally, people who do that are admired.

Ohnonevermind · 31/12/2022 09:20

Angela Kelly has and LVO (a quick google) and the other man also has a LVO ?

BornBlonde · 31/12/2022 09:20

Angela Kelly was awarded LVO, is that not a desirable honour? I'm not sure on the various honour options.

BornBlonde · 31/12/2022 09:20

Sorry cross posted!

LittleBearPad · 31/12/2022 09:22

I saw this in the papers and thought how cross it would make some posters here Grin

TidyDancer · 31/12/2022 09:24

I snorted when I read this. I get why on the 'professional' sense he was awarded it but it's spectacular timing. He told his truth and the Sussex duo probably hate him for it.

Ah sorry , I only glanced at the list and thought there might have been some additional awards after The Queen’s death however maybe they have received them all over the years .

The ranking systems go Member, lieutenant (LVO), Commander (CVO) and then Knight/Dame Commander and Knight Grand Cross (Sophie and Kate are among those who currently hold the highest order)

BethJ62 · 31/12/2022 09:29

JK stated that working with W and K was the “honour of a lifetime “

I think that is just what you say, isn’t it?

He is hardly going to put out a statement saying “I have fucking well earned this, this office is a nightmare and most of my colleagues are idiots”.

Serenster · 31/12/2022 09:53

Not sure why the laughing, Novella - these are just a fancy version of service awards, which are fairly common.

They have similar schemes in many places - like the Scouts, for example, where people who are involved for 5, 10, 15 years etc get badges to sew on their uniforms and they are handed out publicly for recognition. Private sector employers often give people extra leave (probably more valued by them!).

Very much depends on what side you're own, for supporters of the Sussexes, it'd be more proof his actions were sanctioned by the institution.

Some royal reporters have tried to distance William from Knauf's involvement in the DM lawsuit.

Serenster · 31/12/2022 10:02

To be honest if people want to read things into this, it’s probably a better sign that his official complaint about the Duchess of Sussex bullying her staff was found to be the truth than any indication that William had anything to do with the ANL litigation.

The ANL litigation was concluded in February 2021, and there’s been three cycles of honours announced since that time. This is however the first since the Palace confirmed in late June this year that the bullying investigation had concluded. If that had found that Jason Knauf’s complaint was malicious or overstated, it is surely unlikely he’d had be given this award just a few months later?

Serenster · 31/12/2022 10:08

I think what Couscous want to say is that there was a “he said, he said” at the end of the Netflix documentary to which each side made their own statement. Neither Couscous nor any of us know which is correct. I

I would note however that Jenny Afia, Meghan’s lawyer, also misled the court when she herself filed a witness statement saying the Duchess had absolutely nothing to do with Finding Freedom, so she’s not exactly a reliable witness either.
