The only thing I have heard about Omid (and I do not know whether there is an ounce of truth to it) is that he was at Eton in William's year (but not friends with him and often subbed by that group) and that he mentored Harry there at some point and formed a bond.
That can’t be true as Omid likes to tell us he’s a few years younger than Prince Harry, though! 😉 That is of course another of his lies, though.
Omid was profiled in the Times after the publication of Finding Freedom by journalist Andrew Billen, and his name was given as 33 - which led to criticism from readers who said in reality he was older.
In a subsequent Tatler interview Scobie denied telling Andrew Billen his age in that interview, and said: "I'm 38 years old, not 33”. He also claimed Billen hadn't asked his age.
However, Tatler magazine checked his claim with Andrew Billen, who went through the transcript of his interview with the author.
The transcript showed Scobie telling Billen: "I'm 33, I just turned 33."
Billen replied: "Wow, Omid... congratulations. I was just checking: Andrew Morton published Diana's..."
Scobie interrupted: "Oh, how old was he? "
Billen recorded himself replying: "He was 40", to which Scobie said: "Oh, ok. Not that it's a competition or anything”
So yeah. Given Omid also gave the High Court a witness statement saying the Duchess of Sussex had no involvement in Finding Freedom, he’s also another with only an occasional relationship with the truth.
