The royal family

To think the palace should issue a statement condemning Clarkson's comments?

Reindeersnooker · 20/12/2022 16:01

I'm all for their dignified silence on everything else. I don't trust Harry or Megan. But Jeremy Clarkson's comments are horrific and were made in Britain against a woman who has become a member of their family.

NOT issuing a statement sends out such a hurtful message and indicates that anything can be said about her, for all they care. Even the MPs have managed to put something on paper.

It's clear that Harry will be beyond hurt if they do nothing and this time he'd have a point, IMO. Each comment like this published in the press erodes the boundaries for online trolls. If I was Meghan, I wouldn't feel I could return to the UK as it's clear the normal rules don't apply to her. What will her children think of Britain when they grow up and become aware of these articles? Won't they be likely to wonder how the palace responded? While it makes no sense to try and placate Harry generally, letting this play out without one word of censure to the press seems needlessly provocative.

It wouldn't be difficult to issue a statement saying something to the effect of "We stand against bullying and hate speech..." Two lines to indicate they see it and it's not ok.

Or not?

And Camilla was photographed with Clarkson.

onlylarkin · 20/12/2022 20:48

Camilla did not host the lunch.

But she has a history with Clarkson in a friend like capacity.

He has written distasteful articles about Meghan in the past. His feelings about her is well known.

antelopevalley · 20/12/2022 20:49

Camilla did host the lunch.

lemmein · 20/12/2022 20:51

There was 200 people at the event. Should Camilla have name checked in case some slightly dim people on a forum decided attending the same event means she practically invited them to dinner at the palace?

If you think the Queen Consort's team didn't name-check who was going to be at the event then you have no business calling anybody else dim Grin

@LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet You are basically saying so what if Camilla is friendly with Piers Morgan and Clarkson. In that case you will never understand our points.

Where’s the evidence that she’s friendly with them? This level of stretching is gonna make you pull a muscle

antelopevalley · 20/12/2022 20:52

You are right. The Queen just rocks up at any event with free food and no one checks out who else would be there. As long as there is some free grub.

pelargoniums · 20/12/2022 20:52

But what did Camilla eat at the lunch?

Lots of the Royal women all wearing burgundy to an event. Afyer Meghan had said she was not allowed to wear a colour that was the same as Senior Royal Family members.
The Royal Family response just looked as petty as hell.

They didn't all wear burgundy, Camilla didn't, Sophie Wessex didn't, Catherine's sister did but she isn't royal, Eugenie didn't, Beatrice didn't, the Duchess of Gloucester didn't, Lady Gabriella didn't . So was it Zara and Charlotte who were the royal women wearing burgundy with Kate? So two royal women and a child? The horror.

It's hardly a 'wacko' theory given that every single newspaper initially reported that SHE was holding a posh lunch. I didn't know any different till it was pointed out.

You're talking like Antelope made it up? She didn't.

Forget who held the sodding lunch. She was happy to be there wasn't she?

It's not gone down well that

No, the papers have either got it wrong or used word trickery to make people think it was ‘Camilla’s lunch’.

Antelope was corrected numerous times and presented with accurate articles (not to mention logic would dictate a man who owns a Mayfair restaurant would host a lunch there, and the QC would host in a Royal household and for a particular publicised purpose, which press office coverage et al). She is like a dog with a bone, as usual, in her hate against anyone who’s not Meghan. As are you.

weird how people suddenly believe the papers when what they print suits their narrative though.

antelopevalley · 20/12/2022 20:33

What has happened simply shows that Harry and Meghan were telling the truth.

What part?

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 20/12/2022 20:55

antelopevalley · 20/12/2022 20:38

@Coxspurplepippin As I said all the early articles were promoting Camilla and read as fluff pieces. Why would these early articles say she hosted the lunch if she hadn't?
I could understand lying if they were being critical, but they were not. They were saying look how wonderful Camilla is.

Because the press get things wrong? If she hosted it why do it at some random restaurant and not actually give it any press office coverage?

JustLyra · 20/12/2022 20:56

antelopevalley · 20/12/2022 20:49

Camilla did host the lunch.

Ewan Venters was the host of the lunch

No I posted a front page which talked about Camilla's exclusive party. Another poster linked to the article which had been updated since it was first written and and simply said she attended.
It had been changed.

Proof it changed please?

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 20/12/2022 20:57

antelopevalley · 20/12/2022 20:45

And Camilla was photographed with Clarkson.

Can you show us the photo?

Can I ask why you posted a screenshot of that page and not the actual link - as you've posted in every other instance? Could it be that if you'd posted the actual link, and people had scrolled down, it would have confirmed that Ventner was the host? As subsequent actual links have shown.

antelopevalley · 20/12/2022 20:58

@LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet You just keep pretending I have not posted. I posted a link to an early article which said Camilla hosted the lunch. The link you posted saying she had not hosted it was to an article written early on, but that said it had since been updated.

antelopevalley · 20/12/2022 20:59

@Coxspurplepippin I found the front page first. And the page clearly said it was Camilla's party. The article was later updated.

debbrianna · 20/12/2022 20:59

I think what Kate did was great and it came across as persona/character development after vigil. The debate was more about society and what it meant for to stand with other women. Political or not, She was a person and not just a face from a distance. After that, she played the piano, and I was hoping for more growth. I guess there is always hope.

antelopevalley · 20/12/2022 20:59

The Royal Family and some of their supporters continually try to rewrite history.

There was a post on Quora suggesting that the RF are taking psychologists' advice and simply ignoring all the Sussexes' very public attempts at forcing an issue - denying them the oxygen of publicity and response. It's pretty much what they've always done anyway.

It looks like the public didn't get the memo

antelopevalley · 20/12/2022 21:01

@LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet Look at the article you posted. It says it was updated. Just read it.
The article I posted that said Camilla hosted the lunch had not been updated.
And just google for photos. I am tired of googling for you when it takes just as long for you to look as for me.

Camilla did host the lunch.

No she didn’t 😂😂😂

What did she host the lunch for? What was it in aid of? Where’s the official pictures? Where’s the cause? Why would she use a Mayfair restaurant?

Coxspurplepippin · 20/12/2022 21:02

antelopevalley · 20/12/2022 20:59

Ahhhhh, right. So what about Ventner confirming he hosted? Does he know or not?

But what did Camilla eat at the lunch?

Probably a cake version of a voodoo doll of Meghan if people on this thread are anything to go by.
