Well well, reviews are in and now its time to blame some one else.

Speaking on her podcast hours after the release of the final three episodes on Netflix, Schofield said: “From what I’m being told, the Sussexes are a bit disappointed with the final product.”
“The Sussexes feel like the docuseries leans too much into the drama and victimhood — more than they had anticipated… Today, Meghan wants to be seen as a thought leader and a changemaker, and they want to put the past behind them,” she added.
The podcast hose also added that Meghan ‘recognizes that the public wants to move on’ from their royal drama as well.
Schofield further shared that the Sussexes’ displeasure arises from the fact that they did not have much creative control over the project.
“Ultimately, the final project is not necessarily a love letter to their causes, and it is not the vehicle that they were looking for to set the record straight,” Schofield said.

A thought leader! Excellent! We definitely need one of those. I need to have my thoughts led.

Diffuserqueen · 16/12/2022 17:35

She wants to be seen as a thought leader and Changemaker. Bwahahaha .

can’t believe they are now trying to distance themselves from it, 😂

Geneva12 · 16/12/2022 17:36

‘Thought leader’’ to me’ sounds like something out of 1984

bakalava · 16/12/2022 17:36

A lot of aspiring 'thought leaders' stanning on these pages telling others what to think and mislabelling strangers whom they know nothing about!

Diffuserqueen · 16/12/2022 17:37

Rumour has it Netflix is going to dump them, so they will likely spin it that they didn’t like the series so decided to part ways over creative differences and not admit they were fired

TeamHerbivore · 16/12/2022 17:41

Kinsey Schofield, Royal Expert....😂 Who the fuck are they?

Indeed, follow the thought leaders you stupid, racist, probably misogynistic fool 😉

Robynxoxo · 16/12/2022 18:31

How on earth would Kinsey Schofield know what they're thinking. You do realize a lot of the so called royal experts just make it up as they go along.

Lovelystuff · 16/12/2022 18:32

I don’t like Meghan but I would be interested to hear from people who do, why is that? Not a trick question, I’m wondering if I’m wrong in disliking her and I’ve read the Daily Fail too much 🫢

I think you’re wrong yes. For the simple reason you don’t know her. you can say you dislike her behaviour as she presents herself, but her, no you don’t know her,

for me, I dislike both their behaviour. I personally think harry is worse . He’s treated his family like pure shit , like a jealous spoiled kid who didn’t get his way so has went all out for spiteful revenge. And thrown everything after a woman he’s known five years and her mum.

whatever this American journalist knows or doesn’t know, I strongly suspect she’s right.

It was rumoured after the queens funeral that they tried to pull it back , that and the book, as they felt it was going to back fire and they’d made a mistake, and went too far, that the monarchy was bigger and held with more affection than they’d thought. And Netflix refused to do it. As have apparently the book publishers, so I suspect that’s also going to be bad.

Meghan was sold a dream by harry, she was going to be a global star, the lead role in the British monarchy, she was being brought in to revitalise it. which was just fucking batshit. And she bought it.

And he’s fucked off his family said no way, go be global superstars but you’re not monetising and leveraging the British monarchy to get there,so now they are a playing a pair of victims and on the attack and realise they have taken it so far that other than some die hard fans popular opinion is disdain.

mumda · 16/12/2022 18:55

I can't remember which if the 600 threads I asked why they had kept a video diary, but it's still nagging away in my mind.

If everything in your life was recorded at what point could you create a completely different narrative by giving different background.
If you ever want a divorce and a good payout then keep a video diary and keep all the little sad miserable bits of your life for a divorce lawyer to use.

And if you've got kids you should also not record things in detail like that. We spend too much time living through a lens, so get away from the filming and enjoy your life.

SnowlayRoundabout · 16/12/2022 19:15

Schofield further shared that the Sussexes’ displeasure arises from the fact that they did not have much creative control over the project.

If that's true, they're idiots. They've got media people who must have warned them of the consequences of not having full creative control, and indeed you don't have to be Einstein to work it out for yourself. It looks as if they were so desperate to do the programme/get the money that they were prepared to accept whatever terms Netflix offered.

“Meghan was sold a dream by harry, she was going to be a global star, the lead role in the British monarchy, she was being brought in to revitalise it. which was just fucking batshit. And she bought it.“

was Megan sold a dream by Harry or was Harry sold a dream by Megan? Or were they both hopelessly naive and/or self centred?

musingsinmidlife · 16/12/2022 19:20

Anyone who goes on TV has to know that the footage will be edited to tell the story that will get the most views and engagement. This wasn't an actual documentary. Most of the filming seems staged or reenacted (in another house, texts and key personal moments right in front of a camera, stock shots). Every program is storylined and narrated and edited to be as successful as possible. These two have all the advisors they could ever need to advise them on this deal and on the filming. I have no idea if this article is even factual but they are not victims of netflix.

WeWereInParis · 16/12/2022 19:20

I wouldn't automatically believe that person (I don't know who they are) but Meghan did say about the documentary that it was good to work with the director "even if it means it may not be the way we would have told it". So it's not a huge leap to get from that to the pretty mild disappointment with it that Schofield talks about. It's not like she's saying they hate it, just that it focuses on different stuff (drama and victimhood) to what they'd have preferred, which is in a similar vein to Meghan's own words anyway.

magicthree · 16/12/2022 19:57

Meghan wants to be seen as a thought leader and a changemaker

WTF?????? Meanwhile, back in the real world, where people have actual jobs......

I don’t know but he was waxing lyrical about it in their docuseries and he was doing rhe same on Oprah, so yes I reckon he was saying to her what he’s been saying to us, and I also reckon he was saying it to his family, hence the queens apparent comment that he might be a bit over in love.

i mean he literally sat there like a muppet saying how Meghan was going to revolutionise the royal family, throw out all the old ways and create new ones how she was the royal families greatest asset, that they were jealous of her

you couldn’t make that shit up, it’s so cringe. Guaranteed it’s in the book too.

He’s seriously put out that the queen Charles and William told him to do his duty or fuck off with their new hybrid model of cash earning celeb royals

Anklespraying · 16/12/2022 21:09

They both said all this at the engagement interview too. It was doomed from the start.

CurrentHun · 16/12/2022 21:10

Oh dear. If this wasn’t the vehicle to set the records straight will there be more to come?

StormzyinaTCup · 16/12/2022 21:13

Today, Meghan wants to be seen as a thought leader and a changemaker, and they want to put the past behind them,” she added.

Surely this can't be real? A 'thought leader' what the heck is that!

Also putting the past behind them is what they have been saying since Oprah in March 21 when they 'needed to have their say' but now considered the matter closed and wanted to 'move on' Nearly two years later it still hasn't happened, they have followed up with a unchallenged moanathon where they 'had their say' for 6 whole hours and have a soon to be published book where they will 'have their say' again unchallenged across about 400 pages! Bollocks do they want to move on, I can't believe people would actually believe that.

walkinthewoodstoday · 16/12/2022 22:01

Will he be coming to the UK to promote the book? Would make sense but might be risky!

Fizbosshoes · 16/12/2022 22:40

BellePeppa · 16/12/2022 14:04

Ironic that the main reason they said they left the RF was have more control of the narrative and here they are with their new ‘Firm’ (Netflix) and they don’t have control there either. 🙄

I think this is the lose-lose situation for them.

The British press (possibly others but I dont know) have printed lies, created drama and been abusive, unpleasant and racist, all with an unspoken collaboration with the RF. Of course H and M are extremely hurt, upset and angry about the way they have been portrayed and treated by the press and the family.

So they do their own interviews, stories, podcasts, book and series to "put right" those allegations, or speak the truth about what really happened.

But they can't control how that will be received by the public, or reviewers and critics, or how snippets and bits will be taken out of context or put a slant/narrative (for the benefit of those without Netflix or 6 hours of free time) on them.....by the same British press who clearly have an agenda against them. It's like a vicious cycle. Each time they do a podcast or interview they are giving them more material...

AndEverWhoKnew · 16/12/2022 22:50

This isn't really a new story. They have been saying since the Queen died that they didn't have final creative control over the Netflix doc.
It was an odd show - not reality; not documentary; not a puff piece; not investigative. It fell between too many stools and gave the distinct impression that no-one was coming across how they thought they were.

WinnieTheW0rm · 16/12/2022 22:50

friendlycat · 16/12/2022 12:52

Who knows.

But if they are actually a bit disappointed there was one sure way not to portray the victim status of the whole thing, by actually not saying some things in the first place then they could not have made the final cut. But perhaps that's too much of a sensible approach.

Ouch.

But so very true
