@FromParisToParis
respectfully, that wasn’t the example you used.
Arguably, high profile court case is a legitimate news story, although the level of coverage of what was essentially another set of over privileged people arguing over another set of first world problems is little different from this and I haven’t said it was.
The media will always chase headlines. The government will always be delighted at whatever ‘sleb’ feud is eating up the headlines as it does reduce the coverage of serious stories.

I wasn’t the person who said Katie Price or whoever the other one was. I was just making the point that the BBC provide live cover of ridiculous stories involving z list celebs.

@PourMe You appear to believe it unforgiveable for H & M to dare stand up to W and K irrespective of the hatred being waged by them through their 'friends' at the classy Daily Mail that led to serious threats to life. Should they have stood by and allowed the racism, misogyny continue out of respect for the work shirkers? Better still, wait until they were killed which may still happen. Another 'accident' like his late mother.

PourMe · 16/12/2022 13:53

Does anyone know where I can watch Kate's carol service?

pelargoniums · 16/12/2022 13:54

I think it’s being broadcast on Christmas Eve. Would rather listen to Carols From King’s personally.

@wishingyouwell they weren't standing up to anything or anyone, they made unsubstantiated allegations against the royal family and showed their true colours in the process. Harry is a bitter has-been and Meghan is a proper drama queen. I hope they will find peace and happiness away from the royal system they so despise but with people who create such drama, this is not a given.

They aren't "standing up to them" though, are they? They are throwing bottles from the back.

Remember when the photos of her sunbathing without her bikini top were published. Kate and William were on a foreign tour and she turned up next day smiling, her face betraying not a trace of any negative emotions
Imagine thinking being a robot and shunning all emotions is healthy. I hope you never had kids, particularly girls, if you think grin and bear it should be the default 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

What is the crown if not THE symbol of justice

@Inspecto this is such an odd and inexplicable comment. I quite like the RF but in no way do I see them as a symbol of justice. A symbol of power, maybe. As I said, I don't mind them but they represent power and privilege, not sure how justice comes into it at all.

I said the Crown was the symbol of justice. And there’s no way around it as much as the modern monarchy has tried.

The Royal Family are not the Crown; the royal family are merely claimants for the Crown. There is a distinction between people who are claimants and the actual symbolic value of the Crown itself.

“they represent power and privilege, not sure how justice comes into it at all.”

Law, mercy and justice are key words in the coronation oath sworn by the royal family head and monarch.

With power and privileges afforded by the Crown comes responsibility and behaving with justice.

But if a person is themselves uncomplicated and don’t have a strong sense of justice, then they are unsuitable and unworthy of the Crown. The crown symbolises justice and justice is complicated.

Ofgs do stop banging on about it.

Meghan has every right to be offended amd hurt by the racism she'had to endure and Kate has every right to not have to answer to whatever has been said about them..leave them all alone fgs

I don’t think H & M want to be left alone 🤷‍♀️

Why would you make such a nasty and personal remark? It's absolutely obvious what she meant. Typical frothing mumsnet response.

TheChurchOfEli · 16/12/2022 14:02

It does make me laugh people on MN defending people who have protected an actual nonce predator. Anyone who thinks the RF are in the right here are fucking questionable

This is what William said

I personally don’t see it as him criticising Diana, he was criticising Bashir, and how Diana was manipulated. Tbh I think he’s in a much better position to know if she was paranoid etc than anyone else here.

Interesting to hear how people see it differently though

How long before they find procedural irregularities in the Andrew /Emily Maitlis interview if we really want to play at whataboutery ? William went native Harry went rogue and the Establishment wagons encircled to defend the Crown.

Janieread · 16/12/2022 14:13

I'd have a lot more respect for Harry if he genuinely had gone rogue. He's still desperate to be part of it all, and for his children to be part of it.

Worse than the monkey photo? The death threads? The vitriol? The racist headlines?

I don’t disagree that Kate went through a media shitstorm, as do all women who choose to join the Firm, but “Waity Katy” is hardly worse than “Duchess Difficult”.

The photo by Danny baker was on his personal Twitter. He said he didn’t mean it to be racist and was obviously a stupid thing to do. He lost his reputation and career and was widely condemned. All the royals get hate and death threats. The racist headlines were not in UK tabloids or papers they were on social media via individuals. This has been hugely overblown by h and m to get points imho.

Second sons of royalty have a tendancy to go off-piste a bit. They have wealth and status, but no responsibilities. Look at the sons of George III, for example.

In modern times we have fine upstanding examples of manhood such as Andrew and Harry.

Andrew is still a protected Royal refusing to give evidence under oath to the FBI despite being asked and saying he would - stop conflating him with Harry,

Class in many people's eyes seems to be synonymous with being a doormat but continuing to smile.

Only when comparing someone they like to someone they don't.

I doubt they'd think the same way in their own marriages or their daughters' or actual friends.

Youwhatnowffs · 16/12/2022 14:26

#bekind - is truly dead if Mumsnet is any gauge.

Peedoffo · 16/12/2022 14:33

I think she comes across as more confident and smiley than the earlier days. Like she feels comfortable in the role.

I quite agree. I think the same with Meghan. The fact that she went in, in the first place, is questionable.

I have the same respect for all of them as I have for any other living being, however both teams are two sides of the same coin, playing the same game with each other but with different tactics.

Outsiders are busy choosing which strategy they prefer.

PineConeQueen · 16/12/2022 14:34

God the responses on here. WHY is anyone putting these women against each other?

Kate has had some real shit. She was chased and called a slut before she married William. She was mocked and called ‘Waity Katie’. She was photographed topless and had those photos published. She has had people like someone on the first page of this thread speculate about her weight and her dietary habits.

Meghan has also had a load of shit flung at her, I won’t go into it as we all pretty much know.

Both women have had different struggles, both have dealt with them as they see fit.

People on here making assumptions and saying nasty things and putting these two women against each other are ridiculous. Some women (a fair few who seem to gather here) are their own worst enemy to their sex.

And many think not being a self-obsessed, selfish arsehole is being a doormat.

derxa · 16/12/2022 14:36

Kate and William should treat Harry and Meghan with complete indifference and carry on with their usual activities. Reaction is what H&M want.

Peedoffo · 16/12/2022 14:43

I don't think it's true they weren't in love. They met when they were very young and William could have gone out shagging about and marrying much older to someone younger He didn't, I believe it's a love match but they took their time.

That's the difference between a secure and confident woman and one that feels the need to cry about every little issue on TV
