It's a bit annoying that the posters claiming laziness don't have the intelligence to see that there'll be much more going on than the public facing engagements in the court circular. It's akin to thinking that a company CEO is lazy because she has a PA and accounts clerks and sales people etc etc. Just because you can't see the work being done doesn't mean it's not happening. It's just another way to have a bash I suppose.

I posted on MN recently after having a job interview and not getting it because I ‘didn’t show enough sparkle’. I’m SE and hadn’t had an interview in years and lots of people shared how expectations are now that potential employees show loads of personality rather than ability to do the job. Which eventually leads to ‘people like us’ just being the ones who are hired. Depressing indeed. And no space for the quieter/sparkly-less ones!

Meghan was close to her Dad . She wrote gushing posts and letters to him and about him . He lives not far over the border and no distance at all for people who hop on and off private planes the way others use buses.

Im a Brownie Guide leader, I don’t just show up and get the paint sets out, a huge amount of work goes on behind the scenes. You don’t need a ‘job’ to be kept busy in a ‘role’

@Coxspurplepippin that may be, but if Anne can manage over 300 in a year then logic dictates that the younger ones could do more than they are. Anne doesn't have extra hours in her day and her 'behind the scenes' stuff presumably has to be managed too.

I know Kate and William have children but really, they could make a bit more of an effort. It's long been a matter of record that they do less than everyone else.

But as detailed earlier on this thread, Anne has said she spent years learning and observing in her charity roles, so for years probably didn't do 300 engagements a year but did a lot of work behind the scenes so that she was confident when representing her charities that she knew what she was talking about and could do her best for the charities. So now she doesn't have to put so much leg work in because she's had 40 or 50 years of experience and knowledge so doesn't have to read all the reports, the history, the expert analysis etc, she can just dive in.

I’d hate to be considered lazy just because I didn’t rack up the same hours as the longest working person in the company. That’s a yardstick that NO ONE on this thread would set for themselves.

When I worked my performance was assessed on outcomes, not the number of hours I put in.
