I'm very happy for you.

All of this!

This!

blueshoes · 15/12/2022 23:43

What's her last name. Is it still Markle?

I’d like her more if she did amazing things with the money and power she now has! She could do proper documentaries on peoples struggles or raise real awareness to issues surrounding the causes that mean so much to her but both her and Harry are stuck in the past not moving forward.

She’s spending longer talking about the Royal family than she was in it! I feel sorry for her that she didn’t gel with her in laws, I didn’t gel with mine either but I wouldn’t go on the international stage airing dirty laundry about the family and the family business, I would just walk away and move on with my life and try my best to do incredible things for myself and my family

She probably will when the kids are older

she did a lot of stuff before getting married. I imagine she'll be keen to do more. But how old is the little one, 18 months?

she was quiet about the Grenfell cookbook before the launch so may be already doing stuff.

where I'm up to in the series, she's not said anything "dirty laundry" like.

I always think of her as Markle and Kate as Middleton.

janeeyreair · 15/12/2022 23:48

I definitely understand why they did what they did more now, I thought they were overreacting before.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 15/12/2022 23:50

I like her (and Harry) too.

I thought Meghan would be ashamed of Markle.

I don't think she officially has one any more. Royals don't have surnames. Harry was born His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and used Wales as a surname when in the military. He is now Prince Henry, Duke of Sussex and so she is Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.

Anyway, back on topic, overall, I like her and feel like she was treated unfairly. I think there's no way any American really knows what they're walking into with the royals and Harry did not prepare her well enough at all. I don't blame them for wanting out and I think I'd want my say too. The "Never complain, never explain" only really benefits those at the top of the tree.

She is as far from a Kardashian as you could possibly observe.

Well, it's all about reality TV, wealth and soundbites.

Nanatokidsdogshampsters · 15/12/2022 23:30

I think the British public welcomed her with open arms.
Most people didn't care what colour/race she was.
But now she has thrown it back in their faces.
Tells lost of lies. Says we are all racist.
We paid for a lovely wedding.
But that wasn't good enough.
Grace and favour home to live in that is also wrong.
A few years ago Harry stated that he wanted to go and
and live in South Africa and work for the conservation society.
Most of the British public wanted him to be happy.
They wanted a quiet life yet they are on television more times
then Philip Scoffield.

She hasn't accused the British public directly of being racist! She and Harry quite correctly have accused the British press, particularly the tabloids, of having racist elements within it. And sadly, the truth is that we the British public are culpable to a certain extent if we keep reading those newspapers.

She has never once said that “we are all racist”. She actually said that when they returned to the UK for their final public engagement, she was afraid that the public would hate her because of what they had been reading in the tabloids, but that people were lovely to her. Both her and Harry said they miss the British people!
What lies has she told?
When has she said the wedding wasn’t good enough (she said it was wonderful)?
She said she loved living at Frogmore Cottage.
You are one of the people causing the problems by making-up nasty rubbish!

Mamai90 · 15/12/2022 23:57

I've only watched one episode but I thought the first scene where its 'proof' that she didn't have a clue who Harry was (what a load of BS, she's not from Mars).

I neither like or dislike her. I suspect what they've said about the RF is true though. I believe she did purposefully set her sights on Harry, not so much for the fame and fortune but because she wanted a bigger platform for the work she wanted to do.

Or we all need to get rid of the monarchy and then a law passed about press intrusion.

Both of these.

VaggieMight · 16/12/2022 00:10

I like Meghan and Harry but they're coming across as very spiteful. Hopefully they'll walk away with their £88 million and have peaceful lives (and never need to have proper jobs of course).

IncognitoIsMyFavouriteWord · 16/12/2022 00:11

I like her. I knew her coming into the Royal family was going to cause controversy (mixed-race divorcee). I can't bear the other Royals. They are a pointless waste of money who think they are superior. They're not.

I'm proud of Harry for following his mother's light and marrying the woman he loves no matter who she was.

I like who Meghan is and the work she does for charities etc.

I haven't watched the documentary. I believe everything they say. The simple example of what William's godmother said to Ngozi Fulani at the charity event shows how much racism is engrained in that household.

MoChridhe · 16/12/2022 00:18

I like her, she's not perfect and nobody is. I believe her.

BlippiIsAnnoying · 16/12/2022 00:21

Not sure I like her. But I do believe her.

Margot78 · 16/12/2022 00:21

The whole thing is a shame. As a royal couple they could have widened the appeal of the royal family and raised awareness of issues that meant a lot to them. Watching the documentary they clearly had the potential to be really positive role models. Instead they’re making tacky Netflix shows and whining about the past. I feel sorry for her that she went into this thing so ill prepared, it must have been unbelievably daunting having to learn on your feet like that. I would be so afraid of making a mistake and it all being so public. That said, when I’m watching the documentary I never quite feel like I’m getting a real sense of her, it always feels artificial and contrived. It’s interesting to see how others respond differently and easily warm to her. I wish them both well but hope now they’ve had their say, they can now put themselves to better use.

Marcipex · 16/12/2022 00:24

I think Meghan has been atrociously treated and is more likeable than the Royals by a very long way.
I also can believe that the Queen, Charles and William closed ranks to maintain the Firm.
And I think Kate looks more strained every time I see her.
People also seem to forget the tremendous trauma suffered by both boys. That doesn’t just go away. It’s bound to affect them both, sadly, but as Harry is younger it’s probably worse for him.

MrsMiddleMother · 16/12/2022 00:25

AnnieSnap · 15/12/2022 23:04

Having watched all 6 episodes of the Netflix series, Harry and Meghan seem to me to be a lovely couple who weren’t prepared to slot into soulless little boxes to suit the British establishment. They then had to fight for their independence and her mental health. I admire Meghan’s work for women’s rights and welfare both before and since her relationship with Harry.

Absolutely this

Recollections may vary 😁

StrawberryPot · 16/12/2022 00:26

I like Meghan and Harry but they're coming across as very spiteful.

I don't agree. Their anger is very much primarily directed at the tabloids - and who can blame them given the extreme distress they caused. Made all the worse by what they did to Harry's mother. This distress was made so much worse by the RF's failure to protect them from the outrageous lies and dog-whistle reporting in the tabloids.

Angry, frightened and hurt - yes. Spiteful? I don't think so.

Anon778833 · 16/12/2022 00:29

I like her, too. So she held people accountable for their bigotry in Harry's circles? Good for her.

The royal brown nosers now saying they don't like her are hypocrites of the highest order.
