The royal family

Harry and Meghan's Netflix series a huge success

antelopevalley · 12/12/2022 16:55

This series is one of the biggest Netflix shows in the US and the UK. It had 2.4 million views in the UK in the first 24 hours.
Whether you liked the show or not, it is clear that Netflix were right to back this and will make a tidy profit from it. And it helps to boost the bankability of Harry and Meghan.

@Penaltyshootoutfan I am well aware many well off people would look down on that way of making money. Harry and Meghan won't drop that far, but they could make money as after dinners speakers if need be.
And the level of current interest is insane.

I was not making any judgement on Paul Burrell good or bad. Simply pointing out that if he can still make a career out of his association all these years later, then Harry and Meghan have got a very long shelf life.

So you do actually think that’s all they want to be known for - hanging on the Royal coat tails?

hay5689 · 12/12/2022 17:58

I'd rather watch Wednesday on Netflix. It's probably more factual.

Paul Burrell is still making a career out of it. You can attend events where he talks about how Diana liked her tea and other musings. It may not be high profile, but he still clearly has a career based on his work for Diana.

There is endless fascination with the European royals.

I think it is because people who adore them see their formalities and ceremonies as politenesses and as a sign that they care about their role as offering symbolic leadership to the nation and because the Royals want to treat the responsibility seriously and do everything properly to honour the office.....even if it means some sacrifice and inconvenience to themselves.

How did Diana take her tea?
I bet she had it delivered from Fortnam and Mason.

I'd rather know how the Queen used to take hers. I suppose she probably had that by Royal Appointment' marmalade with it, for breakfast. Is it Twinings who have got the 'Royal Appointment' for tea? I bet she had one of those Burca steam makers to ensure that the hot water is really hot!

Pinkrosesbloom · 12/12/2022 17:59

I think it’s a long game. Probably for future generations so there is a public record from H&M to balance to media coverage.

it will be interesting how this is viewed 100 years from now

But he didn’t,he ran a florist shop up until a couple of years ago and then he sold and retired

i think even he wouldn’t describe selling stories about Diana as his career.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 12/12/2022 17:59

How embarrassing for them. To have no actual talent aside from selling out your family.

Ah yes. Such a great example.

Bet that’s exactly what H&M aspire to do.

Be after dinner speakers about how his family wasn’t nice to them 25 years ago.

Paul Burrell is a leach!

I've always felt sorry for him. He was done up like a kipper after Diana died. I don't blame him for monetising the connection.

Paul Burrell made a career out of far less knowledge than Harry and Meghan have.
You are kidding yourselves if you thunk interest will soon decline. They left in 2019. Three years later people are still insanely interested.

🤣🤣🤣 Could you be any more obvious....... Paid to promote 🤔😁 definitely!

blacksax · 12/12/2022 18:01

His extramarital fun has been reported ALL over the world but blocked in the U.K. I wonder how that happened?

Because the whole thing is a complete fabrication and utter bollocks and no media mogul in the UK would dare touch it with a bargepole because it would cost them billions in libel damages.

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 12/12/2022 18:01

I start every post like this saying I’m anti royal lol :) I’m READY to hear any stuff that shows who the racist in the RF was. Don’t really care about affair allegations as always seemed wishy washy and hurts the family, not exactly gasping for that info.

but I want to know who the racist was. The fact that Harry STILL hasn’t said is getting obscene. Does he care or no, is it all just content to him? Particularly bloody gross given his (ahem) use of racial slurs. But that doesn’t fit his PR image.

if he tells, I’m ready for it!! But at the moment he’s a totally questionable ally. As a leftie, that’s true for me on his desperation to use titles, not being green, naming his kids after this racist institution, and they wanted to be half in right?

maybe the next episodes will reveal all…

I've noticed there's quite a bit of them sitting on their kitchen surfaces, can anyone explain that? Seems a bit unhygienic to me.

I wonder what Eugenie thinks?

Did they disinfect it before she moved in?

I wouldn't want to prepare food on a surface where people had staged a fake 'love' scene for the benefit of photographers.

I think what’s even worse is being compared to Paul Burrell. That alone says it was a massive failure for them 🥴

Till he had to go on IACGMOOH 😂😂

That is true. Definitely not showing it to be a successful move for them 😂

IcedPurple · 12/12/2022 18:03

I doubt Paul Burrell's income would stretch to private jets and a massive mansion in one of the most exclusive areas of California.

pattihews · 12/12/2022 18:03

Wow, 2.4 million watching the first episode.

Let's put this into context, more than 4 million people watched Emmerdale last Tuesday. And the third episode of H&M's navel-gazing fest attracted less than a million. ITV news scores better than that.

i think you should tweet them with your careers advice 🤣

Janieread · 12/12/2022 18:05

It sounds like a load of boring tripe and I am not watching - I might if it was properly juicy 😂 as am not really a fan of the RF. I enjoyed the earlier seasons of the Crown though.

He's estimated to be worth about £5 million, so certainly not private jet/huge mansion rich. He lives in Cheshire now with his husband.

And 800k watching the 3rd episode, don't you know that those figures show a roaring success... 🤭

People get subscriptions because it has shows people do not want to miss. The hype will help.

I still remember some people on here saying no one would watch it.

Funny isn't it? The people saying they won't watch it are now slagging it off! Seems these two can do nothing right. I still find it incredulous that people are up in arms over these two and yet say nothing about their precious Royals protecting Price Andrew. Sigh.

ComfortablyDazed · 12/12/2022 18:11

Harry and Meghan.

This generation’s Paul Burrell.

The heady heights…. Grin

antelopevalley · 12/12/2022 18:11

@Ittybittytittycomittee The people complaining are keeping Meghan and Harry as bankable stars.
