Can Charles remove Harry's 'prince' title

gottogo23 · 10/12/2022 12:47

I've noticed that the Removal of Titles Bill is going through Parliament and people have been talking a lot about Harry and Meghan losing their titles. Does this just refer to the Duke and Duchess titles, or does this also include stripping Harry of being a prince?

Maybe you are young and don't realise this yet?

Yeah that’s what it is. Everyone is so much younger than you nobody can remember it and that’s also why it’s not findable anywhere.

Not because it’s bollocks.

@Sigma33 One of the real issues on a discussion forum like this is its extremely hard to find links to news stories twenty years ago. I have a good memory and know what I read. And if I subscribed to a site that stores historic newspapers I could find it. But almost impossible without.

I know things that happened in the City I grew up in that were big news at the time, but you can't find anything online just by googling. Maybe you are young and don't realise this yet?

Agree. And if Social Media was around when SF got divorced, there would be far far more criticism of the RF and stories on it. As it was, it was just a book and an OW interview.

I’m in my 60’s and have a very good memory. I can’t recall ever hearing about the claims you’ve made regarding Williams IQ.

Coxspurplepippin · 12/12/2022 17:42

I'd be incredibly surprised if every tiny little detail isn't out there - I mean the story about the Sandhurst scores is out there - surely that would be shortly after after William left school with his monumental score in an IQ test.

Again I ask , are these lies told about h and m to protect William from 20 years ago or not?

Sigma33 · 12/12/2022 17:45

Roussette · 12/12/2022 17:38

And I hope they keep using their titles. Whilst you know who does.

You haven't commented on the fact that it would take KCharles and/or an Act of Parliament to remove all Titles. Which ain't happening.

Even if they didn't use them, they will still be known... and in the US that would end up as Prince Harry and Princess Meghan.

I agree they can't help how others refer to them. But they can make clear how they would like to be addressed. And as things stand they want to be addressed with the titles bestowed on them by the racist, colonial institution that didn't just throw them (!) but FED them to the wolves...

I think that gives an indication of how much they have been traumatised by their experience and how much they reject that racism and colonialism

antelopevalley · 12/12/2022 17:45

@Roussette I don't know if you have ever read that article about a young woman killed at a truckstop in the US? The author says she arrived at the truckstop as they were removing her body. She tried years later to find out the name of the woman and there was nothing online and even the local police station when she phoned said they had no record of it. It is very poignant.

Roussette · 12/12/2022 17:48

But they can make clear how they would like to be addressed

Yeah... like that'll work.

I remember when he was at an event and referred to formally and he said "Just call me Harry".
He had the piss taken out of him mercilessly on here. JCMH was the nickname and slurs and insults thrown his way for that.

antelopevalley · 12/12/2022 17:48

@Coxspurplepippin Honestly there is lots I have read over the years that is not out there. I don't know if it is algorithms or if articles have been scrubbed off the net. But there is stuff I know happened that I can't find by googling.
Although occasionally I see things on twitter that I had tried to find through google. Like that clip of the Queen talking about the man who was like a gorilla.

😂I wish. In my 50s

I wasn't glued to newspaper stories about the RF (newspapers, remember them?) but as I was a Guardian reader I didn't tend to come across many.

But please, if this newspaper article appeared (placed by the RF) there must be a record somewhere, so please do link. Especially as it was only 20? years ago? those are pretty much digitalised and on line these days

stuntbubbles · 12/12/2022 17:48

Do the royals keep all their old press releases online? I cba to look because I don’t care, but a release about Wills’s IQ would be there if so. Nothing on his Wikipedia education section.

Bet the lie to protect William turns out to be who made whom cry about flower girl dresses in the run-up to the wedding. Bet you all a crown jewel, one of the heavy ones.

Indeed.

But do you think he makes these decisions on random website reactions, or principles?

I would hope that he (as well as Meghan) would be willing to make a principled stand, just as they did when they left the RF (although that was in a very qualified manner)

I'd like to read that

Eastie77Returns · 12/12/2022 17:51

@antelopevalley your posts are a bit bizarre and I still don’t know what the lie is that the Palace peddled to protect William. That he is a genius (didn’t happen but let’s pretend it did)? What would that protect him from?

Anyway he got something like a B and C at A Level and studied Art History. Not quite Mensa material😂

If you are up against it with vitriolic and nasty posts, the best thing to do is not to pander to the worst.

About the RF? Are you mad? Charles and Di couldn't fart without someone in the press reporting it.

not even going near the gorilla comment

Haha; bet his 2:1 in geography has Mensa members quaking in their cardigans.

No they didn't

It was Army sources about how he was doing at Sandhurst, where - if accurate - he scored a nice standard 7/10.

jeffgoldblum · 12/12/2022 17:55

The gorilla " comment " was about a white American dignatary ( I believe he was American!) .
He was named and if I could be bothered it is mentioned with a link on an old royal thread.

Sigma33 · 12/12/2022 17:56

Roussette · 12/12/2022 17:51

I'd like to read that

A friend's adopted daughter has been diagnosed with PTSD after witnessing a murder while in the care of her birth family.

Except there are no records of any disappearance or murder that fit the details.

Of course, sadly people disappear all the time, and sometimes it is only decades afterwards it is found they were murdered.

But when you are making accusations it is a good idea to have some sort of proof to back it up. Otherwise the more likely answer is that you are fantasising/making it up to fit your pre-held beliefs.

antelopevalley · 12/12/2022 17:56

@jeffgoldblum I know what the official explanation is that is always trotted out on here. The clip on twitter shows something different.

Including those about the nature of the RF.

Coxspurplepippin · 12/12/2022 17:59

'The clip on twitter shows something different'

Actually, it doesn't - Snopes have had a go at this and as usual, many of the clips online have been 'edited' to show a story that's not there.

Sigma33 · 12/12/2022 18:05

So, what we are discovering is that H&M's supporters, being called out on their claims of lies on W's behalf can't provide proof.

That their defence of H&M using the titles bestowed by a racist colonial institution are that other people are worse (despite H&M's claims to be more enlightened)
