The royal family

Why do people feel it’s okay to say nasty things about Meghan on social media?

Lilyyy · 08/12/2022 21:02

Why do people care so much about her and Harry’s relationship and are so intent on just being incredibly nasty about someone they don’t even know or really know the truth about? Harry must love her and be happy so why don’t the media and people on social media just let them be?

genuinely asking as I don’t understand why she gets so much hatred everywhere, must be really bloody hard for them to see it all the time. People act like she’s a murderer or something.

Anyone with any sense can see she is manipulative and attention seeking. It’s awful what she’s doing. The clip of her mocking the Queen because she had to courtesy to her is shameful. Even Harry looks embarrassed at that.

Hope you didn't see that from tiktok like I did 🤦🏼‍♀️

They could have been such forces of good for so many causes, it is such a waste that they chose to sell out for celebrity status (whilst attempting to claim they were doing it for privacy🤦🏼‍♀️).

Have you watched the 3 episodes? If you did, you might understand why they left. They haven't sold out... they left. They never said they wanted privacy. That is a myth that is repeated on here hundreds of times.

@justasking111

Wrong thread I think - I went onto amazon & copied link & it's gone back to different topic!

She didn't mock the queen at all!
If she was mocking anyone it was herself!!

Redwineandroses · 08/12/2022 22:07

Roussette · 08/12/2022 21:58

They never said that. You really don't understand about privacy do you?

If i burst into your home by kicking the door down. That's invading your privacy.

If you decide you want me to come round, invite me, open the door and welcome me. That isn't.

That's Unfortunately part of being in the public eye.

They could have lived a much quieter life like other very famous people do when they left, however, opera, podcasts and Netflix was far too tempting...

FFS. She wad not mocking the Queen. She was making fun of herself and her ridiculous American curtsey.

This is how misinformation is spread.

multivac · 08/12/2022 22:07

They could have mourned and honoured granny without participating in the institutional state funeral.*

You are so right. And the press would totally have let them do that and would not have run stories about evil Meghan cutting Harry off from his family...

Jesus. I can't believe how juvenile and pathetic grown adults are about this..

Roussette · 08/12/2022 22:08

Redwineandroses · 08/12/2022 22:03

I appreciate that but I assume your mil wouldn't have a state funeral live all around the road where you'd be seen participating in the "circus " family institution you're trying so hard to criticisise and accuse of treating you so badly.

They could have mourned and honoured granny without participating in the institutional state funeral.

So now Harry should not have gone to his Grandmother's funeral? Are you for real?

Did you actually watch it beyond just one clip? She wasn’t mocking the queen, she was taking the piss out of herself for not realising how to curtsey and doing s hugely OTT one that was out of place for the occasion

nookierookie · 08/12/2022 22:08

Well.....

Depends what you mean by slagging off, doesn't it? There are quite a lot of opinion threads on them, because they have done something pretty dramatic and unexpected and are in the headlines quite a lot, sometimes at their own instigation. Leaving the Royal Family seems pretty reasonable to me - the attention and press intrusion would be a nightmare to me; however, having a fortune that you really could happily live quietly on but still going on Oprah to slag off your family for more money seems less reasonable and somewhat self indulgent, frankly. Is that slagging people off on social media? (I think Harry is more at fault than Meghan, personally).

I'm not planning to watch the series, because I'm not really interested enough in it, but I think people should be allowed to debate the actions of public figures. Calling Meghan a c*nt is not on though.

Youwhatnowffs · 08/12/2022 22:09

I have to admit to raising a wry smile at the Telegraph headline of “Harry, Megan and the Half Truth Prince”. Why on Earth they’ve had a need to twist so many genuine truths (as opposed to ‘his’ truth or ‘her’ truth - if you’re having to own a truth chances are it isn’t THE truth) is bizarre. It’s all very sad really.

Roussette · 08/12/2022 22:10

stillvicarinatutu · 08/12/2022 22:00

Yep rousette

I agree , they both appear lovely , warm, empathetic, relatable, nice decent people. I really warm to them both . And the vitriol and racist hate toward them is inexcusable.
They've not slated anyone in this
Documentary, they told a story from their perspective and actually the private selfies warm the cockles of my heart - they're so normal ! And you can see how much they have each other's back and the warmth and love they have - good on them . Something real and tangible in a stuffy , regimented regime of a family full of fuck ups like any other - Harry has married for love . And it shows .

Totally. They come across as warm and fun. And I bet in real life, they are like that. And they also came across as very well suited.

healthadvice123 · 08/12/2022 22:10

@VladmirsPoutine not for everybody it isn't you realise not every black person will like her either ,
Some yes it will be because of race for many it will not be
They are putting themselves out there and with that will come negative as well as positive comments
Same for many celebrities, there is some pretty nasty stiff written about Royal family in general as well

SammyScrounge · 08/12/2022 22:11

stillvicarinatutu · 08/12/2022 21:30

I'm watching the documentary now - on ep 3 and I STILL like them !
I don't get the vitriol for a couple with a young family , yes privileged, but no more so than half of Hollywood, when people don't even know them .

It actually gives me a grain of comfort to know even within a royal family there are normal issues with in-laws, traditions, bickering, disagreements, and ultimately I admire Harry for standing up for his family and what he believes in.

If the whole royal family , I think he is the most human , empathetic and emotionally intelligent.

What he believes in is his entitlement to be funded endlessly by the King even if he doesn't work with the RF. He is a resentful brat out to damage the monarchy.
.

YoSofi · 08/12/2022 22:12

I think they’re both great, and it seems that they’re very much in love.

I wish them the best.

Could you provide links to show Charles funds him. (hint... you can't because he doesn't)

He could have attended the private family funeral they had later in the day. He didn't have to participate in the institutional state funeral parade throughout London being televised around the world. If I were from elsewhere watching I'd be thinking hang on... why is this man participating in this "outdated" institutional tradition when he and his wife are claiming they were treated so badly by it?

Usernamesarboring · 08/12/2022 22:14

VladmirsPoutine · 08/12/2022 21:26

If she was fully white there'd of course be some terrible posts about her online much like any celeb but that she's half black, American and married into the royal family means she's had ideas stratosphere's above her station. The vitriol about her really does transcend the typical 'hate' discourse about people in the public eye. I am no fan of royalty or Meghan per se, but I absolutely hope she is thoroughly enjoying her wonderful life with her beautiful kids and husband.

And just to pre-empt the 'ItZ n0T aBöUt RaYsĘ I jUs' dOWn't lYk hERR' - yes it's about race even if you don't realise it.

I am from neither of the races in question here and i dont like her because she has dragged Kate into this just to prove herself better. Why her supporters are nasty to Kate, Kate is not making Royal rules? But Meghan love to talk about her. Last time she said it was her who shed tears during flower girl dress issues and Kate owned it up and sent her flowers.

Now cryptic, unclear hints about Royal family leaking stories to press by Harry and then Meghan talks about Kate being formal, nor hugger like her and then commenting how British are so different from her. So all British people are like members of Royal family.
While all her supporters calling British public to be racist on tweeter. Meghan is not just talking about her life, she is constantly comparing herself, critiquing Kate in indirect ways. Why can't they just say who made the racist comment, so her followers stop lynching W+K on places like twitter. Kate is not perfect but she doesn't bad mouth H+M directly or indirectly. So I have more sympathies with her and see Meghan as vindictive due to her non stop dragging Kate when being a woman married into RF she had made sacrifices too. So just out of solidarity, Meghan can spare her unless she did something really bad, but in that case Meghan wouldnt have said she sent her flowers and owned it up. I dont know any of them personally but based on how both have behaved publiclly, I dont like this two faced behaviour of Meghan. It has nothing to do with her skin colour. To be honest, my skin colour is like Meghan, not Kate. I also liked her in suits but my opinion of her changed a lot in last 1.5 years.

healthadvice123 · 08/12/2022 22:14

@Roussette he doesn't now but he did , he stopped , didn't Harry actually say this ?

Minimalme · 08/12/2022 22:14

I just don't understand her - she could just build a really great career as a campaigner without talking about her in laws.

I dislike how the Royal Family get to hoard wealth and privilege, while many UK families are living in poverty.

I wonder if they realise they are totally unrelatable, so keep telling us their stories of woe?

Fuck knows. Also, does Meghan really believe that the rest of us know how to curtsy and never wear casual clothes? The curtsy story came across as mocking. It was so awkward I had to look away.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 08/12/2022 22:14

Redwineandroses · 08/12/2022 21:55

The strangest thing they have done is participate in the queen's funeral. Harry maybe as she was his grandmother, but even still it was strange. But Megan could have watched or mourned in private as a non member of the RF, or they could have attended the private funeral later that day. Strange how she participated the way she did as she allegedly hates the whole institution of to RF but there she was in a car with Sophie in the funeral. 🤔

The only strange thing is your comment! This was the grandmother of the man she loves! As far as I’m aware there was no fall out between Harry and the Queen so why should Meghan not have come to support her husband? She was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Turn up and she is criticised for being a hypocrite or attention seeker, not turn up and she would have been criticised for being cold, unfeeling, not respecting the Royai Family etc etc

Oh come on.... can you imagine the headlines if he didn't go? The vitriol spewed about him not attending would've completely overshadowed the next day's headlines and well you know it.
'Meghan stops Harry going to HMQ's funeral;
'Harry decides he doesn't want to attend his Granny's funeral'
'Harry and Meghan insult the Royal Family'

And so on
