Why do people feel it’s okay to say nasty things about Meghan on social media?

Why do people care so much about her and Harry’s relationship and are so intent on just being incredibly nasty about someone they don’t even know or really know the truth about? Harry must love her and be happy so why don’t the media and people on social media just let them be?

genuinely asking as I don’t understand why she gets so much hatred everywhere, must be really bloody hard for them to see it all the time. People act like she’s a murderer or something.

I just saw something (on tiktok) of her criticising the RF for their lack of "hugging." As in their formal polite greetings aren't just a public thing, they are like it in private too.

What a dick. That's not a RF thing, I know plenty of people who aren't "huggers" when greeting someone, especially English people. Americans are renowned for being more touchy feeling in greeting so her comments were just stupid.

Why don’t you actually watch the show instead of taking your news from a shonky social media platform?

Shesasuperfreak · 08/12/2022 21:37

Meghan sells stories.
I used to be a Quora partner and would get paid asking questions on the site.

Some of my top questions were about Megan. If I would write;
Why does Megan Markle wear high heels?
Whats Megan Markles real age?...

Bam! I would get tens of answers which would turn into £3.

Normally I would be getting 10p ish for questions.

That spurred me to write more Megan content. Anytime something would happen I would quickly go on Quora to ask a question.

Looking back I was leaching off of this poor women's hate for change.

There's no smoke without fire - these two smoke like huge power stations and their sparks cause fires all over the place ... and it's all for money ... extremely unpleasant

Icecreamandapplepie · 08/12/2022 21:38

She bloody loves attention!! Good or bad!

It's what she craves! So no need to feel sorry for her, really.

Redwineandroses · 08/12/2022 21:38

onlylarkin · 08/12/2022 21:34

She did not criticize from not hugging. She explained the cultural difference between her, as a American, and the RF.

This is really why this social media abuse continues. Because people actually believe what others say on SM without actually doing the simple thing, watching the actual program.

Yet she can't recognise that half of her perceived complaints are actually partly about the cultural differences between not only British, but upper class British, and being American.

She was suicidal in part because of all the negative attention, how can you possibly say this?

Exactly. How can a person be taken seriously if their opinions are formed by TikTok videos? Pathetic.

So then don’t watch it if you don’t want to give them revenue. But don’t pretend you know something about them based on 3rd hand information without having actually watched it

I think they’re incredibly brave. They’ve shone a light on just how outdated the British Royal family are, the toxicity of the press and also the nasty, racist undercurrent in our society.

The Royal family missed out on a HUGE opportunity to modernise. My impression is that Harry and Meg were more popular with the younger generation, more so than Wills and Kate and that couldn’t be tolerated.

William was probably too scared to rock the boat.

Even now Harry and Meg are probably still going to be more popular because they’re engaging with the young’uns on social media platforms, netflix etc and bringing that reality tv glamour that younger people like

They are more relevant than Kate and Wills.

When the DM readers all die out, so will the Royal family.

The royal family i presume have teams of public relations, and various other specialists, I'm guessing every thing has been planned for x reasons, unless Harry has gone awol so to speak. The thing is people see x and presume the biographies, the tv shows ect are all truthful and completely the full story.

Yet I bet their is a bigger plan or strategy around all of this.

No, a snippet of her actually speaking.

It's not 3rd hand information... it's a clip of her actually speaking... unless someone dressed up as her and spoke?

A snippet of one or two sentences pulled from a broader conversation can be used to change the narrative.

Your argument is not valid.

A 3/4 minute video of her speaking in an interview is hardly a "snippet."

PrincessofWellies · 08/12/2022 21:49

In answer to the original question - I find their standard of behaviour awful. Going on international TV and lying about members of your family is pretty abhorrent behaviour. That's why I dislike them.

Tiktok isn't just silly videos of idiots dancing.

Fizbosshoes · 08/12/2022 21:50

I was a bit sceptical about some of the stuff they said on Oprah, but also I think they have been treated very badly by the British press.

But they keep coming back for more. Whilst they have control over their narrative in the programmes/interviews/podcasts/books etc they still can't control how the press will present them , put "snippets" out (of context) , critique or review them. I'm going to watch the programmes when everyone in my house is out

I'm not sure they can change people's perceptions (especially those who don't watch the series) when the media will still put their own slant or spin on everything they say and do

@onlylarkin I'm pleased you realise that. Carefully curated and scripted shows can seem very realistic these days.

Yes I know, I have both personal and business accounts and use TikTok daily. Nevertheless I don’t rely on it for full context articles. If you didn’t watch something in full then you didn’t get the full context of what she said.
