Why do people feel it’s okay to say nasty things about Meghan on social media?

Lilyyy · 08/12/2022 21:02

Why do people care so much about her and Harry’s relationship and are so intent on just being incredibly nasty about someone they don’t even know or really know the truth about? Harry must love her and be happy so why don’t the media and people on social media just let them be?

genuinely asking as I don’t understand why she gets so much hatred everywhere, must be really bloody hard for them to see it all the time. People act like she’s a murderer or something.

It read that you were calling H&M cunts tbf

Harry was just born privileged and Megan is a C list Hollywood actress

Where have I heard that trotted out before, probably on every page of every thread about them

Could that be because it's true?

If everyone who hates them and complains would hit the X button on the window, they would get less press and go away quicker

no one ever answers that

Writing negative stuff about them continually is a nasty addictive habit some people just cannot give up. It's part of their daily lives now. They'll be in a nursing home still banging on about how awful they are 🤣😂

ShirleyPhallus · 08/12/2022 21:39

She was suicidal in part because of all the negative attention, how can you possibly say this?

Apparently

multivac · 08/12/2022 22:55

I would send the same question back to the haters

The question was to everyone!

Poor you to have so much hate for someone you don't know and who doesn't affect you.

onlylarkin · 08/12/2022 22:50

I would send the same question back to the haters. I am using you as a generalization here, not meaning you personally.

Why do you care?

Why is it OK to hate them vs like them?

Why, if you hate them so much, do you continually read articles and search social media about them?

If everyone who hates them and complains would hit the X button on the window, they would get less press and go away quicker.

Oh I wish! But they're bloody everywhere at the moment! I turn on the news, there they are. The radio... there they are. Netflix... even bloody tiktok. I can't always just switch it off because I do actually want to see/hear other things before and after on that media platform at that time.

Roussette · 08/12/2022 22:58

Redwineandroses · 08/12/2022 22:53

Funny that her acting skills are quoted endlessly in the context of her being false or being able to cry or do a false smile. She can't be that bad. Maybe B list lol

multivac · 08/12/2022 22:59

Ok I can see that (it's a fast moving thread); in which case, I guess I'm glad the post was deleted....

but, how is it better to have endless threads characterising a stranger as deluded, manipulative, destructive, 'trash, end of'.... ? Why is that ok?

Maybe someone should start the process of changing the way the press works then?

Oh wait.

FeelWellEnoughToTellYou · 08/12/2022 23:00

I must be a terrible judge of character because I really like them!

The point was, they aren't anymore special than other celebrities such as the Beckhams or Kardashian's so the other poster was asking if those who have such an obsession with H and M also have it for other exaggerated celebrities too...

MrsSkylerWhite · 08/12/2022 23:03

Because they’re sad little people with small lives.

I don’t get it either.

TaraRhu · 08/12/2022 23:03

She's a mixed race woman with ambition. That's why. She is also foreign and very American. To British people she appears fake- which is unfair. T be honest she's also wAy out of Harry's league which does set some alarm bells ringing.

I am not a huge fan of either of them. But I watched the documentary and thought they actually made some fair and reasonable points about colonialism, racism and the monarchy.

Im not sure these points are best illustrated by their very privileged lives. But at least they are willing to say something. The press intrusion was awful and definitely worse because she was mixed race and foreign .

The rf let stories out about her i think to divert from Andrew and William's alleged affair that's been reported the world over but not here.

She could have been a great asset for the rf.But I think both are best out if it. I just hope they seek a quieter, less flashy 'devotion to service'.

Oh wait.

They wouldn't be in the press like they are if they weren't feeding the press with endless oprah/podcast/Netflix nonsense.

If the went off and did their charity work quietly the press wouldn't have much to go on. But no, it's all "the new Harry and Megan show where they're kicking the boot in..." blah blah blah. That's NOT how you change the press.

onlylarkin · 08/12/2022 23:06

The press was messing with them long before any of that. All they are doing is taking back the narrative in the press.

They're making out like they're the only famous people in the world who have ever been hounded in the press.

Are you as interested in the Beckhams as you are H and M?

What an odd argument. NO ONE should be “hounded” by the press. They’re shining a light on how awful press intrusion is and that’s a good thing. It might change things for everyone.

EconomyClassRockstar · 08/12/2022 23:11

They never actually said they wanted to live a private life in the sense of fading into the background never to be heard of again. I will never understand why so many people interpreted it as that. What they wanted was to leave public (ie royal) service in order to allow them and, more importantly, their children, a more private existence and allow them to work in a way that they felt was best for their “brand”, for want of a better word, without the constraints that come from
being a working Royal.

I’ve loved the first 3 episodes and they are exactly what I was hoping them to be. No criticism of RF members, only the system and driving the press crazy by holding a mirror up to their actions. If you’re reading this and refusing to watch the documentary and only commenting on what “you have seen”, that’s their whole point.

multivac · 08/12/2022 23:12

You are 100% wrong, obviously. As centuries of royal coverage proves.

ShillyShallySherbet · 08/12/2022 23:12

I’ve just come away from watching the Netflix programme thinking the same. Why the hate for her? I don’t read tabloids or social media click bait so I know very little about them but having watching this I can’t see what’s not to like? They seem a lovely couple and I wish people would just leave them alone.

MissTrip82 · 08/12/2022 23:12

Quite a lot of the comments on social media were a very very long way from just critiques of her behaviour or motives. Overtly racist misogynistic disgusting stuff was common. It’s quite disingenuous of some posters to pretend they can’t see the difference between the two. Nobody deserves abuse whether they seek publicity or not. It’s fair to expect criticism; not the vile stuff she also copped.

Redwineandroses · 08/12/2022 23:14

I think I could safely say Victoria Beckham has been hounded by the press over the past 25 years for her weight/smile/marriage details/singing career than MM has ever been in the past 5.

Are you all as invested in the celebrity of the Beckhams as you are H & M? Because that's all your feeding into... celeb twaddle. H and M may as well make a serious like the Kardashian's as its on similar grounds...

crumpet · 08/12/2022 23:19

I don’t have a massive opinion of them either way other than they behaved like arses in the way they left the RF - announcing their half in half out model etc - any halfwit could have seen that doing so without consulting first would not have worked.
