It's landed - 3 episodes with what I assume is 3 next week.

OP posts:

We are not responsible for what others did.

Maireas · 09/12/2022 16:26

ArcaneWireless · 09/12/2022 16:22

This. We learn, we reflect, we move on.

If it is ok for someone to be forgiven about the wearing of a certain uniform, then it should be ok for everyone else to reflect on the past and vow to change going forward.

Exactly, whether it's Princess Michael of Kent, or Prince Harry.

Covetthee · 09/12/2022 16:26

So now they are saying ‘privacy’ isn’t what they wanted when they left their royal duties because people have called them out for exploiting every aspect of their relationship and their families for money.

Maireas · 09/12/2022 16:29

Exactly. You'd think we still traded slaves on the Guinea coast and owned Rhodesia.

Maireas · 09/12/2022 16:31

If the Commonwealth is "Empire 2.0" why have your wedding veil embroidered with all the flowers of Commonwealth countries?
Why accept a role in it?
Why call your child the pet name of the Commonwealth leader for the past 70 years? Genuinely, I do not understand.

LondonWolf · 09/12/2022 16:37

loislovesstewie · 09/12/2022 16:00

I just don't understand how a person alive today is responsible for anything in the past. What do people want to happen? Financial recompense? How would that work? An apology? Acknowledgment? How far back do we go? Where do we stop?

Often seems a lot like revenge to me.

'The monarchy have a degree of personal responsibility' re the slave trade

You could just as well say that they are personally responsible for, and continue to benefit from, the Harrying of the North. This was a massacre, a genocide, on a massive scale that my people are still to recover from.

I would !

Novella4 · 09/12/2022 16:40

ArcaneWireless · 09/12/2022 16:23

We are not responsible for what others did.

If you continue to benefit financially then you are answerable

ArcaneWireless · 09/12/2022 16:40

Me neither Maireas
It is most puzzling.

I’d have distanced myself in so many ways. Not just flitting.

The filming of everything leaves an unpleasant aftertaste. I’m with those who wish them a long happy life together.

The alternative for H is almost unthinkable. Although you reap what you sow.

The curtsey thing has fucked me right off and any sympathy I had for them is fast disappearing.

I don’t think any of us do. I don’t think she understands herself.

Novella4 · 09/12/2022 16:44

There is a difference between commonwealth and realms

Realms are few now and more rejecting the monarchy each year

There is nothing wrong with countries banding together - in fact countries which were never linked to Britain have joined the new commonwealth

There are lots of questions about why Chuck should be automatically head of the commonwealth just because Mummy said so though

Because they're completely FOS. And as ever in these discussions, the glaring contradictions are pushed aside in order to pursue the narrative.

Questions that were discussed and resolved only a few years ago Xmas Confused

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 09/12/2022 16:50

Well presumably if they've chosen to join the Commonwealth they're fine with the British monarch being the head of it. They could always create their own group of countries and call it something else and elect another leader?

ArcaneWireless · 09/12/2022 16:52

And make a film all about it.

lipstickwoman · 09/12/2022 16:55

diddl · 09/12/2022 16:04

I wonder how much Harry is to blame re not telling her stuff?

If that is behind it then it's easier to blame the family than the man you married isn't it?

Meghan claims to be a strong independent woman. She's more than capable of biding her time, testing the waters, finding out for herself.

She chose not to.

Maireas · 09/12/2022 16:58

Novella4 · 09/12/2022 16:40

Harry and Meghan are benefitting from the abuse, exploitation and murder of the Native Americans, by that token.

Novella4 · 09/12/2022 17:06

If Harry is still funded by the monarchy then he is answerable as all the royals are

Is he ?
( genuine question )

LaMarschallin · 09/12/2022 17:07

I haven't seen the programmes (no Netflix) and have only just now seen a clip of Meghan "curtseying".

I know a lot of people have said she was just making fun of herself not doing it properly, but it really did look like she was ridiculing the custom to me.
She looked like she was taking part in "Wayne's World": "We're not worthy".

If she thought it was a ridiculous practice, perhaps she should have said she would rather not participate in it and stood by her principles.

Harry's quote was interesting:
"How do you explain that you bow to your grandmother and that you will need to curtsy - especially to an American, like that’s weird"

Just as weird as people bowing to him.
Hopefully he specifically asks people he encounters not to engage in this weird custom.

F4chrissakes · 09/12/2022 17:39

So, Meghan, your Dad posed for pictures and took money for them. And you are selling your "truth" on Netflix. What's the difference?

Meghan acts all the time, every time. Badly.
Harry is verifying that he really is a clueless over privileged twit.

And the engagement story.....in the original engagement interview, I thought he went down on one knee in the kitchen. But here they say it was outside on a picnic rug, so which is it? And who the hell (apart of course from Meghan) live streams a proposal anyway.

bakalava · 09/12/2022 17:43

I wonder if they have started goading the royal family even more because they are no getting the reaction they hoped for. They want a proper war but they are ignored so they go one level up in provocation.

MarshaMelrose · 09/12/2022 18:02

I'm interested in next week because they made a point of saying there were no interviews after August, ie before the queen died. Why would that be important? I sense juice stuff is coming.

Honestly, the first 3 seem a bit of a damp squib. He's always complained about the media. It just reads like posters moaning about their mils, petty and one-sided stuff. Its just a schmaltzy, drawn out love story. But why not? It's Christmas.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 09/12/2022 18:37

Have they done Uvalde yet?

No - and I've been waiting for that, remembering the comments made on here when someone dared to suggest the cameras present were from Netflix

FancyFran · 09/12/2022 18:38

@Novella4
H & M are not funded by the privy purse (tax payer funded). They are entitled to close protection officers on RF business. They are not working members of the Royal family.
Their titles are a gift of our late Queen. They cannot be 'stripped' and have no income attached. If their security is £400k pm they now have the funds to pay it for twenty years. Their story is their opinion. We can watch or not. We do not know them or pay for them. Nothing to see here.

Rhondaa · 09/12/2022 18:46

'Their story is their opinion. We can watch or not. We do not know them or pay for them. Nothing to see here.'z

So Thomas Markle's media blabbing was just his opinion too. We don't pay for him, we can watch or not yes? Public oversharing is all just super.

I really hope an ex member of staff spills the beans on this deluded pair and 'shares their opinion' on their sneery behaviour. The Commonwealth is Empire 2.0?! Yet she had all the emblems of the countries embroidered on her wedding outfit. Make your minds up!
