It's landed - 3 episodes with what I assume is 3 next week.

OP posts:

Didn't the Walses also do an engagement interview? If the BBC hadn't offered an interview for this special occasion, she would have been offended and blamed racism.

They all do engagement interviews.
I suppose it's an opportunity to introduce the soon to be newest member of the family to the public, hopefully sharing the love (whatever love means WinkGrin).
I remember Princess Anne and Mark (fog - thick and wet).
Andrew and Fergie's (available on YouTube) is excruciating - bonded over a food fight at a dinner party, having fun throwing bread rolls Confused

LadyVictoriaSponge · 09/12/2022 13:26

That mocking curtesy finished it for me, so utterly disrespectful to the Queen.

I remember a press rumour ages ago that the fall out with Kate and William was that they caught Meghan filming their children whilst she was at their home, I thought at the time that was utterly preposterous, as if Meghan would do something like that, now I am actually beginning to wonder if it was true considering she films absolutely everything.

saffronrabbit · 09/12/2022 13:31

Harry has always hated the press and media intrusion into his life - from an early age (quite rightly so!) cameras pointed at him constantly.

I wonder why the sudden change, allowing cameras in to his most personal and private moments...keeping nothing to themselves. How uncomfortable that must feel. Meghan is so camera aware and had her successful
Blog beforehand, it's second nature ti her to hold nothing private or sacred, but I would've imagined Harry the complete opposite.

Snap. I was just coming on to say the same thing. She recorded everything - maybe for The Tig? - so why not them too. I didn't know whether to believe ot or not, but it sort of rings more true now. Of course, it probably was very innocent but you could see how W&C would be concerned.
And she's supposed to have a diary recording everything that everyone said. Now I'm thinking maybe a video diary?
How unexpected that little little details come out that suddenly give more credibility to bits of gossip.

I just can't think! 💰💰💰💰

We must have watched different docuseries.

They definitely don't appear deranged. They calmly and eloquently tell of the toxic environment they had to escape.

Kudos to M&H for taking that leap.

Good luck to them

Well opinions may vary, if your easily swayed or a have a high degree of confimation bias as can be seen from your other posts.

Although I suspect if most people looked up the "Dunning-Kruger Effect" they would realise this describes Megan and Harry 100%.

Its this hypocrasy that confuses me too. Harry wants privacy and a quiet life out of the spotlight? So he marries a fame hungry actress desperate to be a top flight celebrity, and ends up doing a Kardashian style family reality show. Get a grip Harry.

I think you should.

And, as suggested in another thread, use the phrase 'with stakes this high, doesn't it make sense to hear the story from me?' to win any arguments at work 😁

ha ha ha at this

PastelGrey · 09/12/2022 13:59

If they are recording everything in their daily lives, it will be a horrendous situation for Harry if they should ever separate.

If they do ever separate, the fall out will be horrendous. I genuinely hope they go the distance, for their sake and their childrens.

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 09/12/2022 14:45

I've watched two episodes now and it's dreadful. I can't imagine having the hubris and lack of grace of these two.

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 09/12/2022 14:47

And I agree with commentary that the UK is badly misrepresented. It portrays the empire and slave trade of the 1600s and 1700s with 2010s UK monarchy.

ShamedBySiri · 09/12/2022 15:29

Hahahaha

Now Mishal Hussein is saying "recollections may vary" and Nicholas Witchell is denouncing them.
It's come to something when Charles is going to be grateful for having Nicholas Witchell in his corner. (For those who don't know Charles was accidentally recorded saying "I just can't stand that man, he's so awful" (or similar). Grin

It's a bit difficult to watch someone taking the piss out of your culture.
It is laughable when you can see that it comes from a place of ignorance and arrogance and millions of pounds could not make a silk purse. She could not handle the family OR the business so why not go away quietly and do something else. It was two years out of forty one years of living and loving well.

If that's what they've done then they are entirely accurate re the monarchy

The monarchy started the slave trade and continues to this day to benefit from the slave trade financially
'Reflection' and 'sorrow ' do not cut it

'The monarchy have a degree of personal responsibility' re the slave trade

"Harry rightly pointing out there was a bit of making up non-existent protocols like having her hair in a bun........"

That's my fault, if they were offended by that. When she was early married and carried out engagements I, who was a great defender of Meghan for a long time, thought that she did spend a lot of time in windy Britain pushing back her hair. I wrote to her about it. I expect a secretary read the letter. 😑 I didn't want her to put her hair in a bun, simply to somehow catch the side bits down so that they weren't blowing across her face all the time. The same advice goes for anyone, including Kate.
I thought then, and I think now, that they both look very good with their hair up or down, but there are practical 'rules' which are very useful if you have to be outside in any old weather, like the late Queen's hems having their little weights and her hats being off her face.

I wrote to Harry about his grammar once - then he left the country.

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 09/12/2022 15:45

'The monarchy have a degree of personal responsibility' re the slave trade

You could just as well say that they are personally responsible for, and continue to benefit from, the Harrying of the North. This was a massacre, a genocide, on a massive scale that my people are still to recover from.

readsalotgirl63 · 09/12/2022 15:55

Tony Hall ( DG of the BBC at the time of the engagement interview) said yesterday that the allegation that the interview was rehearsed/staged was "categorically not true" - think he was being interviewed on bbc

bakalava · 09/12/2022 15:58

She staged it herself and then forgot about it. She thinks that it is important to make clear that they weren't nice to her (especially Kate) and didn't accept her. She was put under hypnosis to come out with it?

OhPeggySue · 09/12/2022 15:59

You wrote to meghan about her hair?

loislovesstewie · 09/12/2022 16:00

I just don't understand how a person alive today is responsible for anything in the past. What do people want to happen? Financial recompense? How would that work? An apology? Acknowledgment? How far back do we go? Where do we stop?

PastelGrey · 09/12/2022 13:59

Somebody did comment that she didn't think they would get that far and recorded stuff for posterity or making money in the future. 😟

I was quite enjoying it until the curtesy scene, it was so exaggerated and she was laughing with so little respect for her husbands elderly grandmother and his family and traditions. The look on his face said it all.

Like me watching the film. I think people did like her. Then they didn't. I think that's it really.

Just dump the titles Haz and Meg, get on with your lives and look after your kids is what I'm thinking!

diddl · 09/12/2022 16:04

I wonder how much Harry is to blame re not telling her stuff?

If that is behind it then it's easier to blame the family than the man you married isn't it?

This. We learn, we reflect, we move on.

If it is ok for someone to be forgiven about the wearing of a certain uniform, then it should be ok for everyone else to reflect on the past and vow to change going forward.
