I wasn't predicting, so much as wondering, the kids may well feel that they have been 'Sold' to make the parents money.
Netflix, for that obscene amount of money will be wanting their 'Pound of flesh'

George and Charlotte &c aren't hidden away, and then the 'Big reveal' in a Netflix show for money.
I don't have Netflix, never have had, so won't be watching it.

From what I've seen, it's very fleeting with the kids. Maybe W&k's children will hate that they were shown so much in videos and pictures. I think H&M have shielded them well. We don't really know what they look like. We see the back of a head, or a tasteful picture that is hazy.

Maireas · 08/12/2022 18:55

I know, @Colcat - in the USA of all places!

I wonder when she's going to talk about how the British people cheered their wedding. How Charles beamed with pride as he took her arm and walked her down the aisle. How people cheered them when they did engagements.

I guess she won't as it doesn't fit the narrative. Not a good word to easy about us.

Indeed. I won't be holding my breath.

MM says she thinks media wanted drama in Doria's family - she makes the point it's the U.K. media but it's just Doria who is classy and quiet

Ok now into dads family - who 'are acting differently'

The half sister she hadn't seen for over a decade and then for just a day and a half

MM saying I don't know your middle name or birthday but she's everywhere and telling people she raised me

Doria saying Tom's kids a good 17 years older and they separated when Meghan was 2

MM doesn't recall her being at her dads as a child and didn't see her till 20s - no fall out as had no closeness to fall out from

Meghan wanted a sister

Then subtitles dating Samantha marble claims she had a close relationship with MM until 2018 and press misquoted her

David Olusoga did have his own series on black Britain - a quick look on BBC iplayer doesn't bring it up, so it must have been 2020 (maybe 2021). If it is shown again well worth watching.

Also did a series of the Story (History?) of a house, where they trace the occupants of a house through a couple of centuries - and show just how widespread slave ownership (or investments in slave ownership) is/are

That was a house in Guinea Lane, Bristol, I think..Georgian.
The Merchant Venturers definitely made shedloads of money out of the slave trade.
One young man, ''Scipio Africanus'' is buried in Bristol, he was working as a footman in a Merchant's house.

It is so sad to think of a young man taken from his homeland, and brought o a chilly , damp climate where he died young, far from his family.

They probably didn't even know their son had died.

Sigma33 · 08/12/2022 19:00

Didn't they do one in Liverpool too?

Sigma33 · 08/12/2022 19:04

Just done a Google.

'Black and British: A forgotten history'

'A House Through Time' - first series a house in Liverpool, second in Newcastle upon Tyne, third in Bristol, fourth in Leeds.

Brilliant programmes, well worth watching

Maireas · 08/12/2022 19:05

David Olusoga is great - such excellent programmes. When he was a boy, he and his sister were protected from racists by....Gazza! Footballer Paul Gascoigne stepped in to protect them, he was at the same school.

Sigma33 · 08/12/2022 19:06

In one of them he looks at the records of compensation paid to slave owners, and show what a huge proportion of the middle class benefitted from slavery, it wasn't just a handful of wealthy people but under pinned the finances respectable middle class

Sigma33 · 08/12/2022 19:07

the finances of the respectable middle classes

Sigma33 · 08/12/2022 19:09

David Olusoga is great - such excellent programmes. yes! would endorse him getting a dukedom and a multi-million dollar Netflix deal!

clyspa · 08/12/2022 19:09

Now they are interviewing Meghan niece - Samantha's daughter

She's saying her and her brother were raised by paternal grandparents from age if 2 who ultimately adopted them - refers to Sam as biological mother

They reconnected when she'd grown up, Meghan"s dad mentioned it to her and she got in touch with niece and they started corresponding

Hit it off became close - MM went to her wedding etc

Not clear why she didn't then also reconnect with Samantha

Niece harassed by media. Has stoped talking to Sam as couldn't reason with her

I wonder if she was angry that her daughter had a good relationship with MM who had also become successful and that both fuelled the crazy talk to the media

While it's nice she has her niece (so not quite true she has no one on her dads side in her life) I don't think it changes much else as I think everyone could see Sam was jealous and a bit out there right? The brother too

Ok Christmas time / Harry on talk radio - she's getting in there, doing well and it's the family she's never had

OP posts:
clyspa · 08/12/2022 19:15

MM called her mum from sandringham

Asked how it's going said ' amazing it's the big family I've always wanted'

Constant movement, energy and fun. At dinner she sat next to Prince Philip and talked about lots of things but apparently had his bad ear so he wouldn't have heard

Then that idiot Princess Michael turns up with her brooch

You're bored with them, that's fine. No one is forcing you to watch it?

I suggest you dont succumb!

clyspa · 08/12/2022 19:24

Arufa opines that not surprising as lots of such imagery in stately homes etc

Harry saying sometimes family part of the problem not solution - huge level of unconscious bias -

Then headlines about Harry's managing his unconscious bias

Constant wok in progress for everyone

Talking about the nazi outfit fiasco - he says he was really ashamed and talked to the chief rabbi in london and then Berlin to speak to a holocaust survivor

Commendable -but curious if the palace organised these mea villas as he was a 20 year old at the time

I mean, I could say the same to you about this thread - nobody's forcing to you be here telling us all how horrible we are.

And yet here you are...
