It's landed - 3 episodes with what I assume is 3 next week.

Why? She is one, why can't she?

Duchess of York no doubt does the same and uses her title endlessly and she's been divorced from a member of the RF for 25 years!

Yes, the Duchess of York who is widely ridiculed as a tacky grifter living off her royal connections. Sounds familiar.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 08/12/2022 17:17

I don't understand, she came across really well and it was a nice interview. What was the problem? Who made her say things and rehearse it?

Probably us, the British people. It sounds like we're to blame for all the shit in their lives in some way. Convenient that you can't slander a country.

clyspa · 08/12/2022 17:19

They show the bits about saying Catherine was great and then showed camilla, Charles and Kate all separately being asked about the engagement. Something about all 3 saying ' yes we are thrilled' feels like a point is being made - all using the same expression - to suggest they actually aren't?

Back to the engagement interview and asked if there diff backgrounds means something new for RF - cuts to footage from past royal tours to commonwealth nations

Harry back in the engagement interview replies - they hope to make an impact on the things they are passionate about

Back to Netflix - both stating 'they' wouldn't let us tell their story

So what is it they wanted to say in the interview that they couldn't?

OP posts:
WeWereInParis · 08/12/2022 17:22

Do you honestly think he did not care about his grandmother? Really?

@Sagharbor did you mean to ask me that? I don't think that, and didn't say anything like it.

IcedPurple · 08/12/2022 17:26

Back to Netflix - both stating 'they' wouldn't let us tell their story

So what is it they wanted to say in the interview that they couldn't?

What's the obsession with 'their story'?

And again, who are 'they'?

The only reason that anybody cared a toss about their engagement was because of 'them'. So surely they should play by "their" rules or have a private engagement and wedding, at their own cost?

Rinoachicken · 08/12/2022 17:27

Just watched the ‘mocking the curtesy’ bit. Wow. That’s fucking disgusting sorry. Even Harry looks disgusted s are t next to her watching her while she carries on like she’s so hilarious.

The press are awful and the press only print those stories because they sell newspapers. So lots of people do want to hear sensational gossip about them. That's fact. They are going to get defensive.

Fact or your truth /Opinion 😂 Maybe you should learn the definition of a fact!

There is racism in the UK and in the Royal family, not necessarily the immediate family but the firm certainly.

Oh really, so come one enlighten us, you have directed this at the UK, name me a single country in the entire planet where there is ZERO rasism? As for accusations for the firm who are the "Firm" and have you any personal experience or is this H&Ms personal truths again and your own bias opinions.

But I'm surprised you challenge these two comments I though they were the least controversial. Stating as fact that newspapers write the stories that will sell, and therefore that people choose to read is obvious isn't it. If they wrote stories nobody wanted to read they would go out of business. Their existence proves they are writing for their audience?

I didn't say we were more racist than other countries just that racism does exist in the uk and we have had examples of it recently in the royal family or at least people close to the royal family Hussy was being racist. Harry has used rasist language. Reports have shown examples racism in the police and armed services at various times. Better to front up to it and make changes than deny it or hide behind other countries are worse.

If my use of the 'firm' is incorrect I apologize for not being clear. I understood it to be a term used to refer to those working for the crown, that being the family, advisers, personal staff, press officers etc.

MarshaMelrose · 08/12/2022 17:27

So they lied in the interview? Or what they said in the interview doesn't fit their narrative now, so they need a way to contradict it?

clyspa · 08/12/2022 17:30

Harry's says we've never been able to tell our story, MM agrees, Harry says that the one consistency

Until now says MM and why they are 'here'

Here being doing Netflix

Back to comment or that Britain having a black princess was so improbable and he talks about the also improbability of a small island having the biggest empire the world has ever seen (think genghis khan might disagree? Wasn't his the biggest?)

The question is who had paid the cost?

I imagine ultimately we will be glad mm has

I feel like the curtsy bit was Meghan trying to poke fun at herself, showing that she didn’t know how to curtsy so she did it quite OTT. But I see other people have taken it as her taking the piss out of having to do it. Harry didn’t look too impressed.

clyspa · 08/12/2022 17:32

Not glad - told

I've just watched the first 5 minutes. What a load of old shite.

bakalava · 08/12/2022 17:34

It is mean girl kind of joke, very disrespectful. It is a bit like that sketch she did of pretending to sip tea with a posh accent. She knows that it will offend and generate clickbait. That is the new way to rake it in.

OhPeggySue · 08/12/2022 17:34

Farmageddon · 08/12/2022 17:07

They really seem intent on painting the UK as a bunch of right wing bigots. What the hell has Brexit got to do with anything? Talk about scraping the barrel.

A lot of people voted to leave for racist reasons. There's a link.

Colcat · 08/12/2022 17:34

And she's a terrible actress

RosettaStormer · 08/12/2022 17:36

What on earth is going to be in Harry's book after they have bared all for six hours , having already ghost written Finding Freedom ? I mean, honestly...

RosettaStormer · 08/12/2022 17:36

Not forgetting the OW interview.

HerReputationMadeItDifficultToProceed · 08/12/2022 17:36

Stuart Heritage has said everything I thought about episode one in the Guardian

That's what I was wondering? I guess this is why the book was pushed back to January, when you'd expect it to be out in time for Christmas sales.

I bet the publishers are none too happy.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/12/2022 17:38

It's a good thing they only do scripted interviews where they get to dictate the questions

I think Oprah claimed they weren't aware of what she was going to be asking them?
And for all I know someone might actually believe it ...

bakalava · 08/12/2022 17:39

After bingeing on the NF we are supposed to end up addicted to their content so by January, we are expected to rush out and buy the book. I mean, you can barely afford to heat your home or buy decent food compared to last year but the book? it is definitely more important than all of that. Just to pay the huge Californian bills on their mansion.

LondonWolf · 08/12/2022 17:39

The lack of grace from this spoilt, obnoxious couple is breathtaking. I cannot believe there are still people defending their spoilt, vicious, unforgiving behaviour. Isn't it good thing that the British people extended grace to Harry and continued to think well of him despite his well documented multiple incidents of disgusting and/or racist behaviour over the years. That piss taking of the curtsey though Shock

clyspa · 08/12/2022 17:41

U.K. had a Deep South where we enslaved more people than the US did eg the Caribbean

It was overseas, out of sight and mind

Jamaica and settlements in North America made U.K. rich

Slavery fuelling early British empire

Queen Elizabeth 1 financed first Slave trade boat and then by following kings and queens up to abolition (1807) snd slavery empire (1830)

Slave owners were compensated and we don't get taught about that / it's been airbrushed out of history
