I have zero interesting in watching, not even seen the trailer, but I do enjoy reading people discussing it.

TruestRepairman
A subtle version of the Britain-is-uniquely-shit-and-everywhere-else-is-just-better MN trope

Yes, we British are a backward and parochial lot, unable to comprehend or appreciate the wonder that is Meghan Markle

Wow! A bit of a leap from what I was saying TruestRepairman!

I never said or implied that Britain is uniquely shit and everywhere is better, and I wouldn’t ever say that because I don’t believe it to be true. I love the UK!

Living in several countries has given me the viewpoint that things aren’t as simplistic as that. There are pros and cons to every country. I wonder why you feel the need to exaggerate my words so much?

Nor did I say anything remotely like “the British are a backward and parochial bunch”.

I wonder why you feel the need to be so sarcastic and so defensive?

What I was trying to get across is that MM has a totally different perspective to Brits, she doesn’t give a toss about our rather conservative traditions; she is seeing them with a fresh eye, and she is entitled to her opinion.

And anyway, the entire Netflix docuseries is oriented towards the USA market - she doesn’t need to be popular here - she is never come back to live here.

Again, certain people seem to have taken great offence to this eg Piers Morgan (why can’t I mention him as he is one of the most swivel-eyes of all?) and feel a certain sense of rejection and “how dare she?”. But she can and she has and I don’t think she deserves lambasting for it.

Speaking as a person who married someone from another country and culture, the decision is never easy, one of you is always going to lose out. One of you is always going to be separated from family and friends. I have every sympathy for MM and H. It’s a really hard situation for a married couple to have to negotiate.

Well I don’t have Netflix thankfully .Watching H and M being interviewed is awful and I feel embarrassed for them .I didn’t watch Diana’s interview with Martin ,or Charles . I personally find anything like this excruciating to watch and not in anyones interests .

PeaceJoySleep · 15/12/2022 07:46

They said in their engagement 8nterview that they wouldn't name the person who introduced them. Now apparently they followed each other on Instagram and just decided to meet. It's so embarrassing.

No, TruestRepairMan summed up your rather unoriginal and insulting post quite well @CuordiMela765.

Maybe they shouldn't have timed it to coincide with the nurses strike as they can't take centre stage on the news today, thank goodness

I started watching the 4th episode but got bored so put the last one on…. I actually buckled a bit … Harry as much as he’s coming across all confident and blasé …seems vulnerable .. massive house .. love of his life .. 2 beautiful children .:: but .., as a lady said on This morning .. ex royal correspondent… what’s the end game 🤷🏻‍♀️
2 sides to every story ..: I felt quite moved as I feel he’s hurt however ..:: he’s profiting from the “pain” … big style … I think they should donate some to children’s hospice care of anywhere they chose on the world .. as long as it’s for sick children

Having watched all 6 episodes I feel sad that Harry is estranged from his family which also means his kids grow up not knowing their wider family. History has a habit of repeating itself and perhaps in adult life they'll estrange themselves from Harry (and Meghan).
