Sounds a weird thing to say. But Meghan really has had the life of a lot of women's complete fantasies hasn't she ?

  • born in hot / glam country
  • parents win the lottery
  • received private education. Hobbies. Makes great connections ag school eg Katherine foster
  • financially supported into late 20s
  • enables her to have a fantasy actress career
  • can pay for cosmetic surgery eg nose, chin and hair treatments. Has amazing clothes
  • marries a prince
  • has 2 kids as an older mother without assistance
  • lives in a luxurious beautiful community

Never been unwell , never done a boring / basic job in her life, has no financial worries ever.

On paper it is so much better than my life !!

I've had to grind my way out of poor upbringing and get into higher pay brackets like most do!

Totally agree, I absolutely despise her. She is so desperate to paint herself as vulnerable and hard done to when she’s nothing of the sort and has never known any hardship.

'Absolutely despise' really? 😮

DorritLittle · 05/12/2022 22:55

This thread is hilarious. The frozen yoghurt comment mainly.

Pushing 50 though? Who is?!

2DemisSVP · 05/12/2022 23:08

I don’t wish Harry and Meghan any ill. I think they’re a car crash in slow motion, and it’s just really sad to watch. Not least because the damage goes wider than just them and their immediate families. Just wish they’d draw a line under it and move forward, and find happiness. Not sure what they’re hoping to achieve, but it feels like it’s just going to end in tragedy - and no one can want that.

also think the RF are bang on in not responding or retaliating, and hope they continue to do so. Never complain, never explain is golden.

Facecream · 05/12/2022 23:17

Jesus Christ- people who despise anyone in (or now put) of the RF… you know nothing about them!!! The level of disdain is scary.
Is this the post covid world? Hate, hate, hate?

AliceMcK · 05/12/2022 23:27

You make the lottery win sound like she actually won it and it was millions. Her Dad, not her parents, or her personally, just him, won $750,000 when she was 9years old. I’ve no doubt he spent some on her and on his other children. Hardly makes her some rich princess, pardon the pun.

Private schools aren’t exactly uncommon in the US. It’s not like her parents sent her to an exclusive boarding school and then paid for and supported her to attend St Andrewsnwhile she wooed a British prince, she worked and earnt her grades to get into the university she wanted.

She also worked earning her money as a teenager and in her 20s, not at some made up job her parents created to appease the press and RF. I’m not sure on what planet someone thinks waitressing, babysitting and volunteering in soup kitchens aren’t “boring or basic” jobs. I also don’t think minor acting or modelling roles would be easy especially when her ethnicity was constantly being called into question.

She was active in charity work and speaking out for minorities and equal rights when she was young. Long before she was ever in the public eye.

Not sure if your just jealous or working for the daily mail on another Meghan and Harry bashing story 🙄

Pugsbladder · 05/12/2022 23:37

It's a shame their kids won't grow up alongside their cousins.

Readaboutyourself · 05/12/2022 23:39

slithytoveisascientist · 05/12/2022 21:01

It does read like a fairytale with lotto win, famous actress and becoming a duchess! Still wouldn't want to be her though. Or married to Harry, I don't reckon they are that happy.

Same. It seems such a stressful life and a husband full of rage can’t be fun.

emmylousings · 05/12/2022 23:48

I don't want to come across all high minded, coz I've had these thoughts about really lucky people too, but my brain also springs back to the incredible poverty and hardships of most, people around the world.
Most of us on this thread probably have what many millions of people in the world dream of, and won't get.
I do think it's important (for our own wellbeing) to remember that.

exhaustedManager · 06/12/2022 00:05

To be fair I thought it was more than £750k

No I'm no hater. I was just talking to my daughter and have a summary of meghan's lide and my 13yr old said something like wow lucky life.

Quite a few of the advantages she's had all together is far outside the norm? Most people are lucky to get 1-2 rounds eg stable family and nice looking not lots of things all next level

They need to make money like the rest of us so if Netflix is their opportunity why wouldn't they do it? She can't in reality work as an actress now.

Mike Tindall was in I'm a Celebrity and other Royals have done commercial work in a similar fashion but they don't get judged in the same way.

Personally I reckon Meghan had a pretty bad time as part of the RF, the snobbery, racism etc. People commenting on whether her children were carried by her naturally ? What a horrible level of scrutiny. Good luck to her to make some cash out of the media fascination of them. God knows the Royals throughout history have made their wealth in much more deplorable ways !

KloppsTeeth · 06/12/2022 01:10

None of this can be good for anyone’s mental health. Sometimes, even if you’ve been wronged, walking away and living your own life is the best thing to do. Netflix and books, dragging it out for money is too high a price to pay for peace and good mental health and there will be a heavy price to pay.

MarshaMelrose · 06/12/2022 01:12

She worked in a frozen yogurt shop.

Bless. I hope she's still not suffering from PTSD from the trauma. 🙄

How is 40 pushing 50? If we’re rounding up, why not say she’s knocking on 70?

brookln · 06/12/2022 02:59

'Never been unwell , never done a boring / basic job in her life, has no financial worries ever.'

She had a miscarriage.

TheFairyCaravan · 06/12/2022 03:15

I don’t understand how anyone can despise someone they’ve never met. Anyone would think she’s a mass murderer the way some of you lot go on.

stuntbubbles · 06/12/2022 02:36

So Meghan is pushing 50 also then?

Speedweed · 06/12/2022 03:34

All that privilege and she still thinks she's hard done by....

onlylarkin · 06/12/2022 03:35

I went and looked up the TM lottery/bankruptcy because I was curious.

He won $750,000 (at todays exchange 614,000 or so pounds) in 1990. In todays dollars that would be, about 1.2 million (give or take, I am no math expert). The IRS would tax that as Capital Gains at 33% back then. California would have taken a big chunk. All of that money would have been paid off the top before Tm ever got the check.

He first filed bankruptcy in 1991. He filed again in 1993. It apparently took 4 years to be discharged. He filed for a 3rd time in 2016.

Meghan was 9 years old when he won the money. It is said he paid for her catholic school education. Not sure what the cost was back then, but now a days paying cash for catholic school could run over $20k a year.

It is reported that he paid for the catholic school bought a car for Samantha and gave Thomas Jr money for a business. He also invested in a friends business, which looks to be what caused his downfall.

I did see something that said he tried to hide the money during his divorce, but I do not believe that because he and Dora were divorced in 1987. Of course, I also saw someone online saying Meghan is 55, not 41. Whatever.

It is actually not uncommon for lottery winners to end up bankrupt within 4 years after their win.

stuntbubbles · 06/12/2022 03:37

LadyVictoriaSponge · 06/12/2022 03:25

So Meghan is pushing 50 also then?

They’re both 100 if they’re a day 🙄

onlylarkin · 06/12/2022 03:39

I just looked. CA income tax in 1990 was 10.8%. That with the IRS tax, he would have gotten just over $421,000 after taxes.

Winniethepig · 06/12/2022 03:45

@Coucous pushing 50? Lol, she's just gone 41 🤦‍♀️

Pickawindow · 06/12/2022 03:47

I am in the US and plenty of people are bemused by their "woe is me, I am Royal and live in a mansion in one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the country" many are struggling economically here too.

How come people think she had fertility assistance? They wed on 19th may 2018 and Archie was born less than a year later on the 6th of May 2019. So she was pregnant within 3 months after her marriage.

She had a miscarriage, yes, but they are very common. Iirc one in 5 pregnancies end in a miscarriage so thay's normal (sad, but normal).
