What with the award in a few days and the book in January they're ramping up the game.

Yes it's true the RF have long been targets of terror threats and as working royals H&M would have the same security as the other members. That they chose to live in the States is not the concern of the British tax payer. They can hire their own private armed bodyguards which are legal in America, unlike the UK.
When they are in the company of the RF they receive the same level.of protection. However, when the documentary/bòok/ next Oprah wingefest comes out their presence alongside the RF may cease to be!!
As a side note, other working Royals, Princess Anne and Edward only have security when they are on Royal Duty, so I fail to understand why Randy Andy needs 24 hour protection, which, rightfully is being terminated shortly........mind you, he has pissed a lot of people off, probably why he needs protection 😉😉

I'm not a fan of MM, but it's clear that most people's hatred for her is driven by deep rooted prejudice. Get a life, ladies. I don't see that much vitriol directed towards people who have done worse things in the RF.
Jealousy is ugly and so are hatred, racism and all other negativity. Do better.

Very few situations are completely one sided, and in this case the press has been very responsible for muddying the waters because it brings in money. They have a vested interest in dividing people and keeping the speculation going.

Netflix cares little about which side of the story they tell, they just want viewers. And to be honest the narrative of the threats and racism will sell well to one demographic, whilst the narrative of lies, exaggeration, and petulant strops will appeal to another. I'm expecting a lot of both storylines, skirting very close to what can't be readily disputed - leading to high viewership, lots of supporting press stories and in turn leading to💰for Netflix.

(Personally I think she was sold a pile of lies by Harry about what her life would be and has been mopping up the mess ever since - but that's just my take from press/rumour/speculation so frankly counts for nothing)

I don’t doubt the security threats were real but I’m unsure what the answer is longer term, have British tax payers pay for them forever after? Also, I don’t think they got the memo about the best revenge being a happy life. They could show a bit more integrity and drop the royal titles, particularly as they seem unable to move on from taking pot shots at the Royal Family and generally festering in their own resentments. They went on Oprah to whinge about an argument about kids tights when thousands were dying from covid. Shame really, I think people were happy for them and I used to wonder how she even managed to put one foot in front of the other with the awful news reports from and about her family. But MM uses the same tactics. I don’t see any difference now.

They demand it, damn it, these strangers that will never meet her, and whose lives are entirely unaffected by her, who make no contribution at all to her life, but who are entirely consumed by her, whose every thought seems to revolve around her, parsing and sniping at her every word, listening to her podcast just so they can trash it, and who are now declaring they will watch her documentary, presumably just to come to Mumsnet to sneer some more.

I pop in and out of these threads because the psychology fascinates me, as I genuinely cannot understand why women here give so much attention and rage to a woman they can simply ignore if they chose to.

But I think it ultimately comes down to how dare she. How dare this confident, accomplished, beautiful, self-assured, and hugely ambitious biracial woman not see herself through the eyes of her random detractors😁No wonder she's been called "uppity"!

Anyway, sorry for not conforming you your fantasy, but I don’t feel Meghan should be lowly at all. I am a huge supporter of female ambition and success in fact. But I absolutely reserve the right to distinguish between that, and someone who tells the world that her wedding was as significant as Nelson Mandela being freed from prison. Particularly when the entire platform Meghan now has to tell the world how amazing she is came about not because of her own achievements, but because of the family she married into, and whom she has set out to smear at every opportunity. Ambition and success are admirable. Hubris, not so much.

Nope I actually think it's a massive culture clash. Brits generally aren't fond of massive amount of bigging yourself up many think it's boasting.

Imo it's absolutely nothing to do with prejudice or jealousy. She was welcomed into this country by most people until her ( and Harry's) true colours started to shine through. MM herself has stated that she has identified as white in the past, yet now suddenly she is using her mixed heritage as a weapon! All of the royal family face threats all of the time, MM is not different or special in this way! Can you imagine the abuse and threats Camilla has endured in the past? The person who has made these claims about MM threats has an agenda and an axe to grind and is weaponising race to do this!

MM was not singled out by the terrorists, haters, mentally unstable people who threaten these things! If you do your research into the man making these claims then you would see why he's unreliable! HMQ was threatened by a( asian) man on Christmas day last year! He got into the grounds of Windsor castle with a crossbow intending to kill her. Because he was not white does that mean he is a racist? Or does it just mean he was mentally unstable and needed medical help?
