The long awaited documentray is hitting the screen on December 8th:

What with the award in a few days and the book in January they're ramping up the game.

I'm surprised Netflix haven't yet disabled comments on their YouTube channel, but they're the gift that keeps on giving.
Well over 100k dislikes so far.

I too am surprised but I do think Ted Sarandos must be sitting with his head in his hands.
I do think the majority of comments are brilliant .

MarshaMelrose · 03/12/2022 18:53

@MrsFinkelstein I don't remember either of those incidents. It just always surprises me when people talk like abuse of royal women just started with Meghan and the others suffered nothing. 😏

Puzzledandpissedoff · 03/12/2022 19:14

I just looked at the Netflix comments - hadn't seen them before - and though the "thumbs up" has an 18k next to it there's no number beside the "thumbs down"

Am I doing something wrong (always possible, I'm hopeless with this stuff) or have they removed it?

It's ridiculous really. Meghan wasn't the first by any stretch, it's awful what they all went through, and I'd dispute Meghan had it much worse than anyone else.

This is Kate getting insulted at the airport just to get a reaction.

Kate outside her flat on her birthday.

A description of when she was chased in a car by paparazzi.
www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/kate-middleton-paparazzi-car-chase/

It's frequently dredged up to insult her that she only worked for her parents before she got married. What is forgotten is that she got a job with Jigsaw but was harassed at work by paparazzi so much it disrupted her being able to do her job and her colleagues. It was felt to be safer to work with her parents where she wasn't as easy for the paps to target her.

No idea why my earlier post was deleted but....I'll rephrase:

By the same token your quote applies to OP

Can you explain what you mean by this?

They've disabled the facility to routinely see the dislikes, I think to see them you have to go through the app??

Puzzledandpissedoff · 03/12/2022 19:37

In the circumstances I guess that's understandable, but since it's not my world I don't know if it's likely to make any difference in H&M's contracts in future?

I'd have thought all Netflix would be interested in is the viewing figures, but could be wrong ...

MrsFinkelstein · 03/12/2022 19:45

Its also interesting that the footage used in the trailer of the bank of photographers is from the Harry Potter premiere in 2011.
Surely they have footage of their own coverage they could use?

I get its all to project an image and a narrative, but there must be enough relevant footage of them? Unless press intrusion hasn't really been a significant feature? Not compared to other Royals.

Last time I checked , the dislikes were 159,000

If true (and it does look correct) that's a bizarre thing to do.

milti · 03/12/2022 20:00

The press pack photos in the trailer are from the Harry Potter premiere - not for them !

Puzzledandpissedoff · 03/12/2022 20:13

Not sure what the point would be in using images of someone else's press pack anyway, when there must be plenty of their own

All those photogs who were at the wedding for a start ...

milti · 03/12/2022 20:15

Dunno - ask them !

Do you believe Andrew Parker Bowles should "speak up" for his ex-wife Camilla? If not, why not? Why do you apply a different standard to Trevor and Meghan that you apply to Andrew and Camilla?

I agree with you. I don't think ex husbands have to speak up for their ex wives. I think it's nice when they do, though, particularly for the children. Andrew Parker Bowles remained friends with Camilla and he was seen out and about with her on quite a few occasions, which at the time was taken as a sign of support.

Equally I don't think it's necessary for ex husbands to speak out against their ex wives. It's petty and inevitably one sided from their own point of view. I think when a relationship is over and there's nothing amicable left, the decent and honourable thing to do is stay effing shtumm. The continual bad mouther eventually always comes off looking worse and, actually, a bit of a loser.

Thank you for this.

I generally don't agree with you on these threads, as you well know, but this is acutely observed.

Leave ex-husbands and ex-wives out of this,

I am not sure that posters here would want want their exes commenting on their current lives,

So why expect it of Meghan's?

MarshaMelrose · 03/12/2022 20:51

You're welcome, Mrs Max. It's always best to keep quiet on family matters. If you haven't anything nice to say, say nothing.

Lesserspottedmama · 03/12/2022 21:17

Maximinimalist · 03/12/2022 17:18

Which is exactly what’s happening to Prince William and Jason Knauf. Karma is biting back big time. Prince William must regret he made the decision to go after Meghan through the media and through his right hand man Knauf.

He messed with the wrong woman. She is an American who will never accept such nonsense.

William badmouth Meghan and his brother until they had to flee. His relentless hounding through his media allies led to her contemplating suicide. So do you really believe William will come out looking good? In which universe?

He is apparently in the position by Hod given rights. God does not like ugly.

Good grief. My dear, you need to breathe and go and pour yourself and good English cuppa. None of these over privileged royals are worth such angst on your part.

It surprises me too. Kate experienced awful misogyny as did Meghan. But some people erroneously use that fact to deny or minimise the racism that Meghan suffered on top of the misogyny.

(I accept that Camilla also experienced a great deal of vitriol but news of it didn’t really reach me in Australia) No social media, and then when there was I wasn’t reading it until fairly recently.

That makes you and me both. We are both here aren’t we? Don’t project your angst okay sweetie?

I've reported my own posts re Maulperton . If feels like I'm attacking her and I didn't mean that .

Ha, I've just come across this. Don't worry about it. It's a discussion. I'm not easily offended 😀

I think I saw somewhere that YT “removed” the visible dislikes a while ago as they could be upsetting for people that posted content. I don’t think they’ve only removed them for this trailer.

Nah, I reckon he’s sat on an expansive patio, poolside, with a cigar and a crate of champagne!

The comments and “ratio” may seem brutal. But I bet the viewing figures are great.

Nettflix won’t care why the figures are great, they’ll be happy to get them. M&H will probably take the figures as validation that so many people care about them. In the real world, a large chunk of viewers will just want to witness how many different ways the pair can moan about the same stuff.

I can’t understand why so many people moaned about Matt Hancock getting so far in the jungle. He didn’t last that long because he was popular. He lasted that long because people wanted to see him struggle for as long as possible.

I will watch the M&H documentary. And I’ll “judge” it after. I’m hoping they surprise me with something that switches the narrative away from incessant moaning.

I think what we will see is a fair bit of moaning, along with footage that may skew timelines slightly. And probably some fervent posting by Scooby to “clarify” some of the content.

As has been said before, I do think they wanted to tone some content down, especially since being here for HMQ’s funeral, but I don’t think NF will have done so.

I think the main reason I’ll be watching is to see the content vs timeline.

You could well be right . Wish I was sitting poolside . Contrary to my username I am actually looking out at a flurry of snow !
Anyway , I reckon lots of people will watch the first episode and it will taper off , a bit like the Meghan podcasts . I listened to the first as I am a huge admirer of Serena but couldn’t cope with Meghan ‘s “ interviewing” skills so didn’t listen to any more . Given the transcripts , I was wise .
I will watch with a large glass of wine and a huge dose of scepticism!

Just checked a few others and the downvotes have indeed been blanked.
If they were going to do this I'd have thought they'd disable all votes, whether up or down, but in these days when some resent hearing the slightest thing they don't like I guess it's to be expected

Not sure how it works with leaving tthe actual comments up though

According to Twitter the dislikes are 205,000 . That may or not be true .
The comments are wonderful.

What an utterly bizarre thing to do. It hardly validates their credibility which is already draining away like suds down a sink.
