Are you ready for William and Kate's Superbowl moment in America?

That seems to be the main talking point from the press. It has been referenced by PageSix and the Today show in America.

So are you all talking somewhere else?

You must have missed the fact that the Wales’ appearance on the Earthshot
green carpet has garnered a lot of positive attention on social media tonight. There are tens and tens of photos out there, highlighting the bright green rented dress that Kate is wearing along with heirloom royal jewellery passed down from William’s great-great-grandmother, and famously worn several times by his mother. That is all.

MarshaMelrose · 02/12/2022 23:15

Haha. I love that queen Mary never got the message that less is more. I'd be just like her. ❤

whataboutya · 02/12/2022 23:15

That green dress is an absolute dream. I wonder who it's by? Alex Perry does a similar green and fit but they tend to be a bit sexier. Very clever for it to be rented.

antelopevalley · 02/12/2022 23:16

I did not ask that. I asked if you were all talking somewhere else.
Maybe I missed it, but it seems like some comments are written as if they refer to a conversation happening elsewhere. Are you all on Twitter and know each other there?

I had just seen that photo on Twitter which is why I posted it .

I used to post on a Royal thread in style and beauty, maybe they're over there?

Okay I will leave it. I saw another poster asking if you were all talking somewhere else on a post and I thought she was being a bit paranoid. But now I do not know.

I don't love the way the dress makes her top half look longer than her bottom half.

She doesn't have that body shape.

EdieLedwell · 02/12/2022 23:49

I've changed my mind. I've looked at other pics online and she looks fantastic in that dress.

Roussette · 03/12/2022 00:14

Love the dress. Just don't like the matching green carpet !

MrsFinkelstein · 03/12/2022 00:29

Oh my days. She looks utterly gaw-gus. I'm only slightly green with envy at her figure. Even pre-twins I could never have pulled off a look like that.
They really are a stunning couple.
And I love the fact she rented the dress. Very clever move.

tatala · 03/12/2022 03:15

$11,000 on earrings is utterly shameful while a cost of living crisis rages on. Anyway Kate was lovely to do this 🤗

She looks incredible. I wondered why we don't see that colour more.

Then I remembered: green screen.

There'll be some great creativity online with that dress! And some less great.... I think it may be like holding up a white board that people change the writing on.

pagesix.com/2022/11/26/how-william-kate-will-use-us-visit-as-nod-to-princess-diana/
One well-placed royal insider told Page Six that the brothers’ opposite missions underscore a big point: “It’s not bad to receive an award, but it shows the fundamental difference between [William and Kate] — who have constitutional roles, who are working on behalf of others — versus being a celebrity...

...It’s a “real opportunity for a big wow moment,” said Bethan Holt, Fashion Director of the Telegraph and author of several books on royal fashion.

“If anyone can combine talking about something very seriously with delivering this huge boost of glamour and royalty it’s William and Kate,” Holt told Page Six. “This is a big chance for the British segment of the royal family to make a big splash and remind everyone why they are loved and to re-establish that connection.”...

...“The Earthshot Prize is the Prince of Wales’ Super Bowl moment — and he wants to use the platform in a positive, optimistic way to shine a way on climate change and the environment,” said the source close to the Waleses.

You can smell the hubris.
......

It's quite nice knowing that K will turn up with an upbeat tempo, a smile, and impeccable manners, W will be statuesque and droll, they will both look good and say nice things - no moody Diana, no petulant H, no whiny M. People take pleasure in predictability, certainty, and consistency (probably because the rest of life is the opposite).
That all seems a little desperate.

mathanxiety · 03/12/2022 05:11

This sums up the complete incomprehension.

I don't love the way the dress makes her top half look longer than her bottom half.

She doesn't have that body shape.

She does though, she has short legs and long torso, which is a common trait among the English.

This is very easy to hide with strategic placement of waistlines and belts (which she does, because any stylist worth their salt would recommend doing this!)

Short legs ??

yoyy · 03/12/2022 07:11

Her legs aren't short short but she's tall & very slim so that makes them look longer. However proportional she does have a longer torso, that's why she often wears things like a belt high up to shorten the torso.

yoyy · 03/12/2022 07:13

I like the fit of the dress & don't mind the colour but don't like the neckline at all.

MintyFreshOne · 03/12/2022 07:14

Readinginthesun · 03/12/2022 07:09

Short legs ??

It’s not intended as an insult, lots of people have short legs and longer torsos, I notice it a lot in English people. Just another body type that you can balance with strategic dressing.

BornBlonde · 03/12/2022 08:21

Kate looks beautiful. An unusual shade of green. Megan also looked amazing in the emerald green which is the only green colour I've thought would be flattering on clothes

She rented the dress. For about £300
