Harry and Meghan doing alright in the US, continuing their universal service

Have heard a few comments from panellists and commenters thinking that Harry somehow wants to come back to the UK?

I highly doubt this. I think they are doing more than ok in the US.

A pity a positive thread has been deleted regarding the podcasts, maybe the positive conversation can continue here?

In particularly I wanted to highlight the announcement that they will be recipients for the Robert J Kennedy Human Rights award.

“When The Duke and Duchess accepted our award laureate invitation back in March, we were thrilled. The couple has always stood out for their willingness to speak up and change the narrative on racial justice and mental health around the world,” Kerry Kennedy, president of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, and Robert F. Kennedy's daughter, said in a statement shared today. “They embody the type of moral courage that my father once called the ‘one essential, vital quality for those who seek to change a world that yields most painfully to change.’”

Is Andrew one of Sunshine Sachs' clients?

Is Tutu and Zelensky with Sunshine Sachs?

My answer was to the person who says no bad publicity is bad publicity.

Oh really?

Why not give an award to Andrew then?

Andrew doesn't need an award to benefit from taxpayer largesse. In fact, he doesn't even need to 'work' at all in order to do so. Looks to me like Andrew has done very well for himself.

inheritanceshiteagain · 12/10/2022 13:51

Lifelong committment? How does that work then? Harry has spent nearly all of his adult life in the lap of luxury, done minimal work for charities and the RF, dressed as a Nazi and dabbled in drugs and alcohol to excess. MM has grafted as a second rate actress desperate to climb the greasy pole of celebrity, thrown her family under the bus (as has her delightful husband) and gives dubious interviews to gain yet more celebrity.
I truly wish them well in America and hope their Archwell charity raises more than the paltry $50,000 in 2020. The couple's efforts to support charities dear to their hearts is most commendable and hopefully their efforts to build a happy and successful life in America means they will remain there.

Ohnonevermind · 12/10/2022 13:55

I’ve had a look at the charity financials, last ones I could see were 2019 they distributed about $7m to charity and had operating costs of $4m per year (including awards) on the back of a Kennedy trust and fundraising.

the problem is if you google the name, the other fella (anti vax) one comes up, which is why good Robert needs good publicity to reclaim his name, and the Sussex’s can help

MossCoveredTree · 12/10/2022 13:55

I recently found out that so many awards like this are self nominated and paid for! A PR firm will make a nomination for a client in exchange for a donation or other 'incentive'. I had no idea - in my industry colleagues often receive awards and I have always wondered how they got them.

notanotheroneagain · 12/10/2022 13:56

Another video of Harry looking happy and fresh faced, I think MNHQ decided to delete it was Harry speaking to the WellChild awards. The kids are super sweet, and so well done to the parents too.

I don’t understand why anyone doesn’t have compassion for a woman like Meghan Markle, who has experienced such racism and misogyny and general vitriol from the media and sections of social media, since it was announced she was engaged to Harry. I also don’t understand why people can’t give credit where credit is due

Could you reference any widely distributed media denigrations of MM prior (or even immediately after) her marriage to Harry? My memory of widespread media coverage was all positive and delighted with MM. Its only after the shitshow she and H created ('what Meghan wants, Meghan gets') that negative comments were seen.

Yep, all smoke and mirrors!

erm........ so you think Tutu was paying for awards? And that somehow, with all the war and everything, Zelensky has time to pay for awards?

You could say the same if they are doing badly but somehow that doesn’t stop people posting.

If Meghan is the manipulative b* the media and multiple posters portray her as (I don’t think she is), all that had to be done to stop her in her tracks was treat her well. She couldn’t ‘whine’ (put forward legitimate complaints) about the way she has been treated in the press if no such bad treatment occurred. As it is, multiple prominent members of the BAME community have pointed out multiple incidents of racism and multiple occasions where she and the Princess of Wales have done the same thing and she’s been slated and Kate praised.

@notanotheroneagain Lol are we now comparing the Sussexes to Zelensky? Not content with Nelson Mandela?

Zelensky is an obvious an easy choice and adds credibility.

I have nothing against the Sussexes but I struggle to remember anything significant or out of the ordinary they have done on a charitable basis? My guess would be that this is a 'you scratch my back and I will scratch yours' arrangement.

The problem is that those 50 accounts are out making money, and it spreads like cancer from then on.

People were brainwashed into hating MM, so they find it hard to admit they've been had............so they dig in deeper and deeper, no matter how nonsensical their reasons are.

Thing is, if the media were to be given a thumbs up to change the narrative on MM, the media would, and those people would be the herd that turns around with wherever the wind goes.

Myself, I am very uncomfortable with giving credence to a poc being constantly accused or unfounded nonsense - a well documented history they have had to live with. If H&M were proven irrevocably as Ghislaine and Esptein, I would turn in a heartbeat. Their haters have worked hard on their part, but they have nothing on the couple. There is a good reason all the dirt never sticks no matter how hard haters try. No guilt passed on the couple - because they did nothing wrong.

For now, there are not that many do-gooders out there, and I am more than happy to support H&M and will not engage in unnecessary smearing out of the blue.

I see them as a well meaning, doing good couple. I will not be falling for media lies anytime soon.

@ Samcro

You need to distinguish between "bullying" and " anonymous comment".

What? so people can't be bullies if they are anonymous?

‘Straight out of Compton’, ‘Nappy days’, ‘all white on the night’ are 3 headlines that come to mind off the top of my head. Criticism of M touching her bump - Kate doing the same showed ‘natural maternal instinct’. Criticism of M&H holding hands in public as inappropriate PDA, when W&K do it, the story is about how nice it is they have a strong marriage.

M breaching ‘royal protocol’, much of which seems to be made up by the press and there is evidence of Anne, Sophie, Kate doing similar without criticism.

That’s all off the top of my head. It’s not just me - multiple BAME individuals in the public eye have said the coverage of M was clearly racist. I am uncomfortable telling people with lived experience that I, as a white woman understand racism better than they do.

MaulPerton · 12/10/2022 14:33

People were brainwashed into hating MM

So, people who, for want of a better phrase, 'support' H & M have come to their own conclusions while people who are critical of H & M have been brainwashed? Can it work the other way or does it only go in one direction?

Ohnonevermind · 12/10/2022 14:36

I’ve been brainwashed into thinking lying and bullying is bad by my parents.

Shame on them

Redfrangipani · 12/10/2022 14:44

@inheritanceshiteagain I don’t have the actual newspaper names to hand but, not off the top of my head, I’d say to you to google in Meghan Markle ‘Straight out of Compton’ ‘exotic blood’ . You can also Google Meghan Markle and racism and misogyny, and I don’t doubt you’ll be swamped with opinion pieces in newspapers, and academic papers - it’s all there. Now if I was you I’d stop denying MM has faced racism and misogyny because it makes you look ill informed or just plain determined to remain that way.

Ohnonevermind · 12/10/2022 14:49

While Meghan has experienced racism, if it was so frequent as the poster has suggested above why did the Oprah Winfrey’s interview make up headlines, surely they could have just googled and copy/pasted ? Article discussing this issue

Except there was never any overwhelming positive propaganda on MM to brainwash anyone.

Oprah never made up any headlines.

The Headlines were there by the publications. That is what they highlighted, and what Oprah showed they highlighted. Which is why she not only never retracted anything, but stood by it too.

OP posts:
notanotheroneagain · 12/10/2022 15:07

Too right @Redfrangipani

The article that highlights the headlines was from buzzed, and someone will be along with one standbyer witnessing and showing how different MM news have been.

to pretend she was ever welcome is rewriting history and being incredibly disingenuous.

“there never was any overwhelming positive propaganda…”

Ohnonevermind · 12/10/2022 15:29

the U.K. courts agreed with the newspapers that the headlines were manipulated and the U.K. version was amended.
Oprah Winfrey’s US version isn’t under Uk law so was not changed
