Mike Tindall - I'm a Celebrity

Rumours circulating that he's signed up for the next series of I'm a Celebrity.
I know he and Zara have to make their own money but I find this tasteless and tacky.
Puts me in mind of the Royal It's a Knockout.
Surely they can't be that desperate for cash?

Maybe it’s for charity? 🤔 Also, is he not a celebrity? After all, if they’re not going to rely on the royal family/the tax payer for expenses they will need to make their own money and do their own thing. People cannot complain about royal hanger-ons and then also complain when they do their own thing.

Roussette · 12/10/2022 03:34

I read this. Hilarious when another couple who shall remain nameless are criticised ENDLESSLY for making their own money and doing their own thing.

They are supported by us as they live on the Gatcombe Park Estate with her Mother Anne.

Arnaquer · 12/10/2022 03:51

If it's fir charity then improves it slightly.
If not and they need money just get a proper job.

Which is privately owned

coodawoodashooda · 12/10/2022 04:07

I agree op. And I like the royal family

Arnaquer · 12/10/2022 04:14

I'm not a huge royalist but not anti either, I've always thought Mike and Zara are decent people so am a bit confused by him doing this. It's so undignified.

I agree. I've nothing against them, it just seems a bit seedy.
They cant be that strapped for cash surely

notanotheroneagain · 12/10/2022 06:35

You should know better than to criticise the RF members if they are not particularly couple, OP. 🙂

It was in the Sun.

Mike has a podcast, that constantly features Zara. Is she full time on it?

Up to now there is indeed a couple who are constantly slagged off for some imaginary hidden mikes and crew following them around for a TV show - no one cares if that show is to promote certain charities.

Lo and behold we later had another couple turning into YouTubers and no one bats an eyelid.

Michael James Tindall, MBE is an English former rugby union player. Tindall played outside centre for Bath and Gloucester, and won 75 caps for England between 2000 and 2011. He was a member of the English squad which won the 2003 World Cup.

not just married to the late queen's granddaughter

bigblueyonder · 12/10/2022 06:48

Mike Tindall did 'The Jump' reality tv competition a few years ago so he has form for doing these things. Joey Essex won if I remember correctly. He may have come second or third.

MidnightConstellation · 12/10/2022 06:50

I was quite surprised to read this . It does seem tacky and I did wonder why they need the money. At least he’s not slagging off the the family for personal gain though. Or writing a book about how hard it is to be in the RF living at Gatcombe Park with his wicked mother in law.

girlmom21 · 12/10/2022 07:03

He's a man in his own right. He's successful in his own right. He might actually want to do it...

notanotheroneagain · 12/10/2022 07:05

Why would he slag of anyone.

I'm pretty sure he does not experience racism where he lives.

Considering that none of the stuff are leaking lies about him to the press either, and it would seem he does whatever he wants (podcasts and other deals etc.) whenever he wants without criticism. I garner he has quite a cushy life.

Nothing to complain about.

workiskillingme · 12/10/2022 07:06

Undignified 😂😂😂behave ffs

Ridelikethewindypops · 12/10/2022 07:10

The Royal family are basically UKs version of the Kardashians. So this is actually a logical step for them 😁

Tiswa · 12/10/2022 07:13

It normally has an ex sports star - Phil Tufnell James Haskell (who I also think he does a podcast with occasionally) Ian Wright. He fits it there in his own right
he also does other things there was a programme where it was a quiz to who paid dinner that he did
he wants a career I imagine in his own right - for an ex professional sportsman this is a valid career path!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 12/10/2022 07:13

They are supported by us as they live on the Gatcombe Park Estate with her Mother Anne

The state doesn't own Gatcombe. The Queen purchased it from her own private wealth as a wedding gift for the Princess Royal.

ethelredonagoodday · 12/10/2022 07:14

He does after dinner speaking, my husband is going to a dinner on Friday that he's at.

Weepingwillows12 · 12/10/2022 07:15

His podcast is about rugby. I think Zara went on once as a guest in a previous format so hardly "always on it". Occasionally he mentions what he has been up to in the same way other presenters do. But it's rugby focused and he is an ex rugby player so seems reasonable to me.

Arnaquer · 12/10/2022 07:23

I know he has a podcast, commentates, does after dinner speeches all related to his sporting career, great.
I just think I'm a celebrity is crossing the line to cashing in on his royal status.

OP posts:
OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 12/10/2022 07:27

He was a world class rugby player in his own right! He's not cashing in on his royal status. If he had never married Zara he probably would have done the show anyway.

NCnotmyusualone · 12/10/2022 07:28

My first thought when I saw your post op was that they usually have an ex sports person on, and that would be how I’d view him. He just happened to marry a royal, that’s not his primary thing in life, his sporting career was.

sashagabadon · 12/10/2022 07:31

He’ll probably come over very well. Polite , a gentleman and funny. In fact I will predict it now - he’ll win!
I’d also love to see Harry do it too. It would probably be good for his public image as I imagine he’d get stuck in but it could be a PR disaster if he is moody and sulky.

BerriesOnTop · 12/10/2022 07:31

If you are one of the royals who aren’t working, then you need to support yourself in some
way. I see nothing wrong with it, and Charles should expect more of this bc of his vision of a ‘slimmed down’ monarchy

Highfivemum · 12/10/2022 07:32

he is a chap and an ex sportsman. He is perfectly entitled to do it. The fact he is married to Zara has no bearing. My only hope those is he donates to charity
