The next series will be starting on the 9th of November. Imelda Staunton will be playing the Queen. Tobias Menzies is playing Philip.

Historical events we’re likely to see in season 5 of The Crown:

The Queen sues The Sun newspaper
The death of Princess Diana
Tony Blair becomes Prime Minister

Who will be watching it?

True icedpurple. Instead they are having to pay over £12 million so Andrew does not appear in court over an accusation of raping a trafficked minor, batting away accusations of financial scandals and suitcases full of cash, and dealing with unhappiness about stolen diamonds.

Was that amount confirmed ?

antelopevalley · 19/10/2022 10:06

I don't think so. I don't think the palace confirmed anything about the charges against Andrew. Just acted as if it would all go away. And it did, after a very large payment of money.

The estimates vary between £3m and £12m but nothing's been confirmed.

Funds from the sale of the ski chalet were supposed to be going into the pot but as far as I'm aware that remains unsold while Fergie managed to find £5m for a mews house down the back of the sofa.

All so very murky.

LookingAtYou · 19/10/2022 10:46

'Maybe. But at least they are not making a big song and dance of pursuing 'financial independence' and flouncing off to the other side of the world where they have no job, no status, nor even a roof over their head. And then whining in front of millions about how their estranged dad isn't bankrolling them.'

Yes it was an odd argument, 'we want to be financially independent and daddy cut me off waaaah!' Confused, ignoring the few million start up fund he gave them..

antelopevalley · 19/10/2022 10:49

The few million start up fund? Has that been confirmed by Harry and Meghan? They said they lived on the Diana inheritance.

I wouldn't take confirmation from H & M as the truth - just their truth. They said that they had received nothing from Charles, and then the accounts showed that they had. And their fans insisted that Harry had been referring to the end of the financial year, not the calendar year - see, he's an accountant too now! Their truth.

antelopevalley · 19/10/2022 11:15

It does depend on what the accounts showed and the accounting system used.

But my point was more that many do not believe anything unless it was confirmed by the palace, but are happy to believe things not confirmed by Harry and Meghan. It reveals a real bias. Personally I look at the evidence.

Does anyone have a link to these accounts? The notes within should reveal the accounting method used.

Exactly. We all know financial years do run Apr to Apr but he'd of course have had the previous year's few mill in hand before the Apr 2020's new handout.

'Cut him off'. Yeah righto Harry 🙄.

antelopevalley · 19/10/2022 11:24

Okay slag him off without looking at the accounts or accounting methods used.
Does anyone have a link to these accounts?

Going by your unsupported claims on this thread alone, it's pretty clear you only 'look at the evidence' when it suits you.

'The Prince of Wales allocated a substantial sum to support them with this transition."That funding ceased in the summer of last year. The couple are now financially independent."

'cut him off' must be one of the many examples of recollections varying perhaps.

Ohnonevermind · 19/10/2022 11:32

@antelope

‘personally you look at the evidence’ 😄😄😄
quite clearly you don’t.

I do recall you starting a
thread saying kate wasn’t wearing her wedding ring even when she was ?

You clearly get things from dodgy websites and post them on here as facts. My advice is to check things out better before posting them.

if you want the accounts go google them. They were discussed on these threads in detail at the time, but the idea that Harry is into fiscal years it rather funny

antelopevalley · 19/10/2022 11:38

That link is to an article. I want to see the accounts for myself. Does anyone have a link?

OP posts:
antelopevalley · 19/10/2022 11:39

@ohn That is really really nasty. As I said on the thread I have a visual impairment and did not see a wedding ring on the photo. I said on the thread I was wrong. So to bring that up to claim I do not look at the evidence is a nasty ableist personal attack.

OP posts:
Legrandsophie · 19/10/2022 11:46

The Crown is a tawdry hatchet job for people who are stupid enough to believe every newspaper headline they’ve ever read.

What I love the most is people who base their entire understanding of the RF on having watched it, rather than reading anything factual about events from the time period.

It is a drama- not a documentary.

Ohnonevermind · 19/10/2022 12:00

@antelopevalley

i didn’t mean to be nasty but you are the one who started a thread implying all is not well in the W & K marriage on the basis of faulty evidence from some dodgy website, which isn’t nice either.

Why did you start that thread if not to suggest that W and C’s marriage was in trouble ?

antelopevalley · 19/10/2022 13:28

@Ohnonevermind You have been extremely nasty and abelist to me on this thread.
I look at the evidence. Which is why I still want a link to the accounts that show Charles payment to Harry. Does that not exist then?

I look at the evidence too.

That's why I'd like you to link to where Charles told Dimbleby that he wanted the queen to abdicate. Which is what you claimed.

Or the evidence for the 'evidenced' nature of 'The Crown'. Which is also what you claimed.

Ohnonevermind · 19/10/2022 14:43

@antelopevalley

I’ve not been ableist, just pointing out that your sources of information are often wrong.

I could find the link to Charles accounts using google , but then again, so could you.

antelopevalley · 19/10/2022 15:03

I googled and could not find the accounts as I already said. I very nicely asked if anyone had a link to them.
I really really wish I could block you.

And you are ableist. You mocked me for not seeing something on a photograph when I had said I have a visual disability.

OP posts:
Readinginthesun · 19/10/2022 15:10

If the funding for H and M came from Charles’s personal wealth , then it won’t be in accounts .
After the Sandringham Summit , I am sure that Charles said he would fund their transitional year.
You having a visual disability doesn’t explain why you felt the need to start a thread which is as obviously to cast doubt on the state of W and C’s marriage .

Readinginthesun · 19/10/2022 15:11

*was

antelopevalley · 19/10/2022 15:46

@Readinginthesun But the defence was that the accounts showed Harry was lying. If this is in personal accounts that no one can see then it is simply Charles work against Harry's. There is no evidence at all.

OP posts:
jeffgoldblum · 19/10/2022 15:55

It was refuted at the time by Charles and the royals financial banking head, of course you won't get a copy of Charles bank transactions to Harry ! Why would you , would you splash your bank account to the public? .
And I saw that thread, although I didn't post on it as I though it was mindless and damaging gossip.
You said confidently that Kate wasn't wearing her wedding rings , when called out you said you hadn't zoomed the photo, you didn't mention visibility issues.
You owe @Ohnonevermind an apology, trying to obscure your mistakes by shouting ableism is a shocking tactic.
