The last thread filled up during a particularly chatty morning.

@Jibbajabba1 ,camilla opened my child's play school ! There's a sign!

Prince Andrew opened my dc’s secondary school! This was about ten years ago. He was impressed at the time - I told him he really shouldn’t be! The school have recently removed the commemorative plaque from the main entrance!
Am I the only one who can’t bear to look at PA’s face? I just think of him as a fat arrogant oaf who I wish would just disappear from public life altogether. I couldn’t even feel sympathy for him when HMQ died.

DFOD · 01/10/2022 19:30

Just listened to the BBC engagement interview for the first time. Thought it was fine apart from when MM says they have been dating 2 years and PH corrects her that it was 18 months and they then go on to confirm that first date was July 2016 (the engagement interview was Nov 2017) so it an early indication to me at least of her tendency to exaggerate.

Thought the BBC interviewer was quite cold for some reason and she asked some quite pointed Qs that you can see now in hindsight.

PH odd reaction to being asked how PW and KC took the news was interesting - seems he is much less able to keep the emotions out of his body language - he’s quite transparent when you ignore is words as his body tells the story. MM totally cool though.

I also watched the heads together one and thought MM spoke proportionately and then the earlier heads together with PW, KM & PH which was very touching as they both spoke about the impact of their mother’s death. I thought KM was very sensitive during those moments. Such a shame that those three have fallen out as it seems they had a unique deep bond. I hope they can reclaim that in time.

"Cast and crew from Suits have all said nothing but good things about her behaviour, likewise people who knew her from school."

That's because the Suits lot were her step up out of obscurity. She would obviously be nice to people assisting her on the way up. The main schoolfriend she is known to have had (Ninaki something) has had plenty of bad things to say in direct interviews. David Foster's wife was apparently not even friends with her at school but , hey, she's once again a step up for Meghan so I wouldn't expect anything else.

Or it's because she's a nice person. She was there for about nine years wasn't she? Plenty of time for the 'real' Meghan to emerge. Marrying into the royal family was a step up too, although I imagine it was difficult to navigate. Ninaki Priddy comes across as very spiteful. I really don't give her much credence.

Aspiringmatriarch · 01/10/2022 19:35

I agree DFOD, it's very sad that things have broken down to this extent.

WRT to the speaking 'disproportionately', it reminds me of the studies they did that showed when a woman speaks the same amount as a man she is perceived as dominating.

notanotheroneagain · 01/10/2022 19:38

@Aspiringmatriarch
Was that Ninaki woman the one who seemed more concerned about Trevor than her 'friend' MM? The one who showed a school trip pic of MM in front of BP - like every school trip does (not sure if that qualifies all those French kids etc. we see on tours all the time as being obsessed with the rf).

I do remember reading someone from wardrobe and make up testifying that MM is nice to them. Of course all her colleagues also testify as such. Almost a decade is long time to hide who you really are - and yet, she could not hide it for even a few months at the palace?

Oh wow, @Aspiringmatriarch @smileandjoy and @Ohnonevermind

THANK YOU!!

It is so good to read all your posts.

I have been on another thread in which @MNHQ were deleting posts about Eddie Izzard for being speculative and for being insulting to Eddie Izzard. But @MNHQ allows all sorts of nasty speculation and insults to be posted about Meghan Markle, thread after thread.

It is a deeply unpleasant double standard.

What the Meghan bashing posters want is for these threads to be an echo chamber in which their nasty views are repeated and recycled and endorsed. Anyone who questions the received wisdom is accused of "derailing". They also use coded language to disparage and demean posters challenge them.

And yes, I too had a DM from a poster who advised me to watch myself because she has been hounded off these threads.

It seems the only person who is allowed to be torn to shreds by @MNHQ is Meghan Markle.

I am so pleased to see posters like you standing up against this cyberbullying, ironically from persons who claim to hate bullying!!.

smileandjoy · 01/10/2022 19:48

notanotheroneagain · 01/10/2022 19:30

Sadly this is all true.

I too have had DMs from posters who have been hounded out and those who are sick and tired of MNHQ allowing all this to go on.

This is why I’m pursuing the matter until something is done. I initially got a very positive response from MN when I last made them aware of the situation. However, I see the practice has not stopped so I will continue to pursue the matter until bullying, racism, xenophobia and misogyny are no longer tolerated on these threads.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 01/10/2022 19:48

Sorry, I meant @notanotheroneagain NOT @Ohnonevermind

Hardly professional either to slag off your co stars. They've got future careers to think of and that's before we even get started on how anyone who criticises Meghan is so often declared to be "racist".

Aspiringmatriarch · 01/10/2022 19:54

Thank you @MrsMaxDeWinter, it's nice to be welcomed! These threads were in danger of becoming a bit of an echo chamber which I don't think is a desirable thing anyway. It's more interesting to have a range of views. I do feel sorry for MM being put under the microscope in an often very uncharitable way, but hopefully she doesn't hang around on Mumsnet!

Yes, but they've gone out of their way to defend her, which is different from saying nothing or making a bland statement. So that's a nine year period of apparently being an extremely well-liked colleague and friend.

Aspiringmatriarch · 01/10/2022 19:58

I hope Rousette is not one of the posters who felt hounded off. I enjoy reading what she has to say and she's always very gracious.

This, this, this.

It Is so ludicrous how for 10 WHOLE years, the only stories about Meghan were what a nice person she is. Then she enters the Royal Family as the only person of colour, and suddenly, she mutates into this Angry Black Woman, and it is all revealed rather conveniently just before the Oprah interview.

Girl, please!

Also, I asked on the last thread -- and not a single person answered me: If it was Harry and Meghan BOTH bullying staff, why was the formal complaint made ONLY against her??

Nothing about this makes sense.

Off now to look up this Ninaki friend, sounds like a charmer!

Croque · 01/10/2022 20:00

@LondonWolf I'm sure M is great at those glitzy, insta-worthy, high rolling friendships where nobody actually really knows you well enough to be bothered about your inconsistencies or family history. Infact, that pretty much sums up the Canada years and her wedding guest list.

Ohnonevermind · 01/10/2022 20:01

@Croque I think they’re classed as transactional friendships

Jibbajabba1 · 01/10/2022 20:02

Just saw s headline the Netflix doc may get shelved - did they get an advance ? If that does happen would they then have to pay it back - awks

FlissMumsnet · 01/10/2022 20:02

We're aware there are some heated exchanges here alongside some very differing views. That being said the interviews and articles being discussed are all in the public domain so we wouldn't delete the thread on that basis.

We have made a number of deletions however when posts reported to us clearly break our Talk Guidelines.

Yeah, there's no getting away from that guest list. A networking event if ever I saw one. I'd love to know what "the courtiers", who would have had to do all the admin thought when they were compiling the guest list - I think lots of 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

She has some very close friendships from that time and is described as incredibly thoughtful, supportive and kind. I'm curious as to how you would know any different.

You are sure of this, based on what exactly?

She has friends from her university days, she has friends from her Toronto Days, she has friends who were co-stars. They were all at her wedding.

What is it that you actually know that makes you say all her friendships are as you describe?

This @FlissMumsnet is the kind of comment that is popular here, nasty jibes about Meghan based on pure speculation and hatred.

Ohnonevermind · 01/10/2022 20:11

Hollywood is a hard place to succeed in, you need to be tough to make it. Relationships are transactional, I used to wonder why many stars based themselves outside of Hollywood but they’re probably the sensible ones.

Looks like it 😁

Can we please, just carry on discussing and ignore the obvious attempts to make the discussion untenable because it has descended into some kind of melee? Ignore the accusations of some kind of behind the scenes conspiracy 🙄. I've typed and deleted several posts refuting these claims and responding to specific accusations because I know it's utterly pointless. I'm predicting parallel discussions on the same thread which might be somewhat entertaining Smile
