The last thread filled up during a particularly chatty morning.

does the book give a rough split between male and female, and the split at the different levels (entry, middle management etc)

jeffgoldblum · 01/10/2022 18:46

Not that I saw oh , but I only saw the excepts , the book could be more in-depth or more general , we shall have to see.
I doubt the times will release more now the book is almost out!

jeffgoldblum · 01/10/2022 18:47

I'm waiting to buy until I've heard what others have said , ( I'm a cheap skate!)

Jibbajabba1 · 01/10/2022 18:47

From my experience men tend to bully women rather than other men in the workplace.
But yes good points, he will be more used to male environments and that’s def going to be a factor.

Haha it’s def like a soap opera / Greek drama-comedy ! Not a royalist either however it’s a good distraction when poorly and stuck at home!

Charles and Camilla are my favs too! They seem more authentic, warts and all.

jeffgoldblum · 01/10/2022 18:49

@Jibbajabba1 👍, glad I'm not alone! , I thought the pen debacle was hilarious! , and showed a more human side! , I would have used worse language though! 🤣

Don't worry I am currently challenging the deletions - and will do so each time they occur if I deem them to be unjust.

I'm sure the right thing will be done.

Let's hope so, or else this thread will simply become of a series of posts containing unsubstantiated claims and defamatory allegations about H&M (but largely directed towards the duchess). I'm sure we all want a reasoned, balanced discussion 😊

Jibbajabba1 · 01/10/2022 18:54

@jeffgoldblum
yeah I didn’t get the faux outrage over pen gate - he was a grieving man, who grumbled a bit. All the media outlets were clutching their pearls over it. I love how he didn’t do an Oprah interview to justify and explain the incident and cast aspersions on other family members to preserve his own image.

jeffgoldblum · 01/10/2022 18:55

I'm wondering if we'll here anything about Edward , Sophie or Anne?

Jibbajabba1 · 01/10/2022 18:39

@MissMarpleRocks
Oooh I’d love to hear what was said about Andrew, can prob imagine! From the extracts, he sounds like such an entitled brat! His mother choosing to believe an aide over him - says it all.
Charles does seem to have that human touch. I’m looking forward to reading more about him in the book. I find it interesting how he was sort of ridiculed for having fringe interests, which have now become more acceptable mainstream.

It wasn’t much tbh. But I wouldn’t repeat it to anyone & certainly not on the internet.

If someone tells you something privately about a public figure then I don’t think it’s nice to blab.

About a random that no one is likely to know then it’s different I think.

Oh it was all performative wasn't it? In the absence of anything to criticise let's make a massive deal out of something minor and pretend it's a big deal.

I wondered the same thing. It reeks of xenophobia. I made the mistake of not reporting it at the time.

@Jibbajabba1 ,camilla opened my child's play school ! There's a sign!

Croque · 01/10/2022 19:02

I hope this thread does not descend into romper room chaos. Personally, I'm with the Purple Hand Fort - or perhaps the Hidden Hand Fort 😅

Ohnonevermind · 01/10/2022 19:03

Camilla and Charles would be great fun at a dinner party I would guess

notanotheroneagain · 01/10/2022 19:03

I hardly report anything @smileandjoy , let it all stand. So MN can be seen for what it really is. A haven for H&M vitriol.

Jibbajabba1 · 01/10/2022 19:05

Ah that’s cute!
Will Camilla feature in the book I wonder?

notanotheroneagain · 01/10/2022 19:05

Has there been another except now, claiming H was nice to men and horrid to women?

Anyone share that token ?

Aspiringmatriarch · 01/10/2022 19:09

I watched that interview and Meghan behaved as if she was the only one there. She never stopped talking. It was the kind of situation where people with good manners (William and Kate) just let the rude person get on with it. It was also the kind of situation where Harry could have/should have found a way to reign her in a bit or at least say when they got home - did you have to talk so much.

I've been lurking/ reading (and struggling to keep up!) with these threads but wanted to just respond to this as it's not often there's anything one can easily refer back to that hasn't been filtered through other people as is the case with this latest book. It can be difficult to know how much is conjecture, personal opinions and prejudices coming through, or simply fabricated.

So I rewatched this interview to see if I agreed with your take on it, and I think it's quite interesting that you think she never stops talking. She does give very confident responses to the questions directed to her and there's the infamous 'hit the ground running' phrase but I really don't see someone who is acting like she's the only one there or won't stop talking. If you watch it and time how much each person speaks, it's not disproportionately Meghan talking, they all answer questions individually and there's no speaking over each other. William takes the lead which is appropriate in this context and think they all came across well in the interview actually. But clearly Meghan rubbed you the wrong way.

Since this thread is about the extracts from Courtiers, I will end by saying I still think some of the hostility towards Meghan may be due to a clash of cultures and styles. She's very charming but forthright and you get the impression she expects a certain level of competence and wants to get things done. This is also evident from the successful projects she had as a working royal - Smartworks, the Grenfell cookbook. I can't say whether she was a bully, but my feeling is that if this was the case it would have shown up in her previous life. Cast and crew from Suits have all said nothing but good things about her behaviour, likewise people who knew her from school.

Croque · 01/10/2022 19:18

"Cast and crew from Suits have all said nothing but good things about her behaviour, likewise people who knew her from school."

That's because the Suits lot were her step up out of obscurity. She would obviously be nice to people assisting her on the way up. The main schoolfriend she is known to have had (Ninaki something) has had plenty of bad things to say in direct interviews. David Foster's wife was apparently not even friends with her at school but , hey, she's once again a step up for Meghan so I wouldn't expect anything else.

I understand the frustration. However, I had a poster DM me today to tell me she was driven off these threads due to the relentless bulling she was subjected to. And why was she targeted? Because she was not willing to do what has become so typical, which is denigrate two individuals she does not know and who do not deserve the negative attention that they receive constantly on MN. This is unacceptable. To do nothing allows this bad behaviour to persist. Such behaviour includes deliberately misinterpreting your words and then using emotive language such as ‘ageist’ and ‘bullying’ to have you and/or your posts removed from MN. I believe there are some who have been able to perpetuate these acts with impunity for far too long.

Sadly this is all true.

I too have had DMs from posters who have been hounded out and those who are sick and tired of MNHQ allowing all this to go on.
