Anyone else think The Times should not be printing extracts from this new book about Royal Courtiers at this time? Incredibly stupid given that H&M are trying to mend fences? I feel really quite cross for everyone involved - William's efforts to build bridges etc, all going to be in vain now. Very naughty.

I like your post. I agree with lots of it. I think true die-hard Royalist (I am not referring to you here necessarily) reallly really take H&M walking away so personally. It's like a rejection of them!

I just don't get it myself but I am not a Royalist.

Actually @Roussette I have come across real royalists, and I will say, I have not found them here.

They accept that HMQ and Charles say they are loved members of the family. They accept that they are not working for the family firm, but are still part of the family. They accept that there are complications. They accept H, A &L as part of the blood born family and accept that MM is his chosen wife.

What you have on MN is not Royalists, they are something else altogether, though I don't really know what.

Wow this is tedious.

That was VL terminology in his Tweet.

Pick it up with him.

But as they don’t all live in “the palace” - Windsor Castle / Frogmore Cottage / Clarence House / Kensington Palace etc …. and Buckingham Palace is often referred to as “the office” - we can conclude that he means the admin / management structure rather than the blood relatives

I agree this is tedious.

“Palace” generally refers to the whole institution not the staff. When the staff are referenced it’s usually as “palace - officials, staff, spokesman, aides, advisors, sources” etc. So I don’t agree with your conclusion although I understand it in the context of VL’s book. In fact I think he needs to clarify his tweet.

My post about living in the palace was facetious, if that actually needs explaining, they live all over the place.

As a kid everyone makes mistakes - she had chosen to marry him by then - still doesn't change that Harry couldn't have briefed Meghan that some of his family members were different . . . if he thought they were ok - until they rejected her . . . subtly.

He was hardly "a kid"!! He was 24 when he made the 'little pa*I" and "ragged" comments.

I've no doubt a few of the older RF members were insidiously racist, but I honestly believe that overall the RF saw her being mixed race as positive, because it brought them into the 21st century. I believe from what I know that the main issue they had with her was her being dismissive of the protocol of the RF. Her being American was a part of that but it wasn't all by any means, after all a lot of the key staff were not British: Sam Cohen, Sara Latham etc

“As a kid everyone makes mistakes”? Is that how racism gets written off by the Sussex Squad on this board? Amazing. Who knew you let it all go so lightly!

And dont call me that either. Would you like to be labelled too?

From the third article it seems to be laying the blame on the courtiers not understanding the issues the couple had.

Thank you for the share token myrtle

These were the courtiers whom Harry presumably had written very aggressive and unpleasant emails to. The whole environment created by H&M sounds so toxic and unpleasant - to the point where staff, many experienced career women, hesitated to point our anything to the Sussexes that they wouldn’t want to hear (ie the diamond earrings) for fear of being lambasted back - that’s not a good starting point for any discussion. Added to which Harry and Meghan had already shown that they weren’t team players - not cooperating with calendar dates of event being publicised in turn with other members of the RF etc. it’s not hard to imagine that they weren’t seen as approachable by the various levels of courtiers and staff who interacted with them.

Ain't that the truth!

I do know some die hard royalists, I avoid the subject, they would either get really angry or cry why if I criticised them!

The Zimbabwean girl who's father was friends with Mugabe? Interesting how she was liked despite her family's dodgy background. . . .
At least she was smart enough to choose a normal life

Not just that.

Her father made money off the backs of black South Africans during apartheid. Then moved to Zimbabwe to open a hunting lodge to kill Lions and other endangered animals. To top it off, he made sure the country did not see a penny of the profits and moved his taxes overseas.

But, yeah, she and her family were left all alone.

He was not a 'kid' he was a 21 year old adult, but let's just call his racist comments a ''mistake' and move on. Unbelievable.

@notanotheroneagain The problem is most people feel like it's a personal attack. They forget Meghan is free and did not need to stay here if she was being abused by the press. They think anything Meghan / Harry say about their treatment at the palace is about them personally as if the RF is an extension of them when they are merely subjects of the King. It's hard to explain - a bit pathetic.

Coronateachingagain · 25/09/2022 21:59

The Times obviously got the green light from Palace to publish these extracts so soon after the funeral.

Ominous sign, it must be so nasty inside so I wonder!!

We will never know the real story but it doesn't look pretty for either side.

Why do you believe that her mixed race was regarded as positive? What evidence do you have for that, and her own account contradicts this?

H grew up in a racist environment, and then he met a mixed race woman and he woke up. Or just “woke” as many would denigratingly call it.

I don’t see that arc of growth of awareness among any of the other family members - as evidenced by the cringey Carribbean tour.

He was an idiot. He did two equality and diversity awareness courses and I imagine he bitterly regrets it.

It’s interesting how much mileage M haterz make of H’s fuck up and ignore and deny the tsunami of racism directed at, and underpinning attitudes to, Meghan.

Lol at the equality and diversity awareness courses. Because they're known so to be so effective. He was forced to do those btw.

He wasnt 21, @StormzyinaTCup , as I said above he was 24. For me anyway the 3 years makes a big difference, as it certainly did in my own maturity and life experience.

And when someone called me racist on another thread you jumped in to defend it as “just an opinion.”

You don’t seem to like it when people figure out that the “nice” act you put on is not reality.
