Why are H&M "less important" now?

Let's not make this a bashing thread!
But in another thread yesterday it occured to me that the way I see it, I just get the sense that with the queens death they almost drop a rank. But that doesnt make sense? If anything shouldn't they now feel more important? Now that her majesty has gone it just feels like they become more distant somehow. Could it be to do with the passing of a generation, so they are no longer "the youth"?

By the way this isnt based on any facts or anything I've read, just a feeling on it. Can anyone explain? Am I right or wrong?

@FirstTM
"Please see my post above that clarifies that point, although you should know the history as you were the original source of my address. Again, I will repeat, there are many charities in need of volunteers. Why not make a positive impact in the life of someone who can benefit from your service?"

Again, why are you constantly telling other posters how to live their lives?
You know nothing of my contribution to charities, why pretend that you do?
What contribution could you make to charity instead of posting on mumsnet H&M threads?

I don't find that too odd, there is war in Europe after all, so perhaps it's a message that GB stands with its allies at the highest levels maybe? As in above politics and as nations. But again maybe not lol

No, I don't find it odd either. Just interesting. Or maybe not!

Meghan and Harry live RENT FREE in their heads. Why are you so scared of Meghan? Completely rent free!
People will go to be doing this and wake up in the morning straight into it again.

Not sure what you're trying to say?

Just reading this thread, see once again you are continuing your hounding of Roussette
grow up and give it a rest

And we are yet to hear what your motivations are. That seems to be the modus operandi on these threads – repeat unsubstantiated claims (hoping others will take them as verified facts) and avoid answering questions that may incriminate oneself. As I said, it all seems very futile.

P.S. there was no outrage (faux or otherwise), it’s more sympathy – and I don’t mean for Meghan and Harry as I suspect they are a lot happier than most. I’m willing to believe they’ve got better things to do in bed around 5am in the morning (I see posts on these threads start quite early 😄).

Eh? I don't have to explain my 'motivations' to you. I don't ask for your motivations in writing lots of pointless posts, some of which end up getting deleted for personal attacks, when you could be making a positive impact by helping a charity in need of volunteers. There are lots of them out there, you know.

Anyway, I think we've established that you have nothing of substance to add to this discussion.

I would argue that my interactions with you are charitable works.

Has there ever been a more inane internet expression than 'so and so lives rent free in your heads'.

Do the posters in this discussion live rent free in your head by any chance?

I'll be honest I would have loved to see Harry and Meghan as commonwealth ambassadors, I think it really would have suited them. Harry has always loved Africa and conservation work there, along with continuing his late mothers work.

I am sad that seems to have come to an end somewhat.

But maybe, if all this can die down around them, they work hard and really dive into their philanthropy work and it takes off, he can continue that work.

I do feel for him, born the spare and it seems constantly concerned one day he will become "irrelevant" that can't be a nice life to lead mentally.

DuchessOfPort · 23/09/2022 22:02

Strawberries - I was going to make the same point about disliking the new Chancellor’s budget. I don’t think that his budget is helpful and I believe it will damage the economy. The market plunged. The market is racist. According to the logic of some people on here, that makes me racist.

I have a great example here of a royal being racist.

Of course I have nothing to add to this discussion. It’s tedious. But as I am laid up in bed with debilitating morning sickness I was in need of something to do – preferably an activity that required very little intellectual or mental exertion. Over the past two days I’ve found these threads to be quite suitable for this. Thank you!

IcedPurple · 23/09/2022 22:07

I do feel for him, born the spare and it seems constantly concerned one day he will become "irrelevant" that can't be a nice life to lead mentally.

I don't.

He had tremendous opportunities to carve out a long term role for himself. Prestigious patronages, meetings with world leaders, opportunities to work with charities he cared about. Immense privilege laid at his feet, all because of who his parents were. The same system which made him the 'spare' also placed him above almost everyone else in the land, and I've never heard him express any gratitude for that.

If he was worried about being 'irrelevant' then it was up to him to make himself relevant. He had every opportunity and assistance to do so.

StormzyinaTCup · 23/09/2022 22:08

What happens when this thread fills up again re: Meghan Bashing? Will you all move onto the next thread again? Which one Lili and Archie one?

If recent experience is anything to go by, if it goes quiet on this board for more than a few hours then another thread will be started about the couple by the exact same poster(s) who call others obsessed (sometimes they will post in a covert way which was in evidence today until the two threads were deleted). It's weird.

Fair point and noted.

But I am of the personal belief that wealth and privilege doesn't protect against poor mental health. And I suppose he was born in a bubble really, institutionalised for want of a better word, so his "problems" were in that bubble if you see what I mean.

We can't relate to them or him really, the same way he can't really relate to being a single mother living on benefits, he can sympathise I'm sure but not relate.

But yes I think overall you probably are correct, he had the position and privilege and opportunities to not become irrelevant but couldn't see past the end of his own nose it would appear.

😂😂😂 - a few hours is far too long
Meghan bashing is an all day sport - I really don't know where people get the energy or time.

HeddaGarbled · 23/09/2022 23:28

With regard to the alleged invitation then disinvitation to the state reception, my view is that it would have been a diplomatic impossibility for them to attend, bearing in mind the guest list, and Meghan’s recent comments that show she does not deem herself obliged to keep her mouth shut. It would be unreasonable to expose the guests to that risk.

Dinoteeth · 23/09/2022 23:50

@HeddaGarbled I don't think they should have been there either. You're either a working royal, committed to the Country or your not.

No business or corporation would have an ex-director play host at a function.

tadara · 23/09/2022 20:52

Not shocking to me. I'll leave this here. We're not going to agree. Ta.

so you think it’s okay to demand several times that I explain why an account of repeated bullying incidents by one powerful person toward multiple juniors is shocking. (When it is blatantly obvious)

but you won’t say why you think these actions are acceptable.

okay.
that makes sense.

because the indefensible can’t be justified.

@Coucous Meghan bashing is now a meme.

She brought it up on herself though, at least in the country (UK) you can see her game. I know what do I mean, but we all know don't we 🫣

Coronateachingagain · 24/09/2022 00:20

One additional thought.

Do I really want Harry to represent my country? Meh no.

Definitely no. This is a personal opinion of course, but he is definitely not the best we have produced, not even in the top half, and probably in the bottom quarter (tbd if even bellow that).

That is how I feel about Harry - so many toys out of the pram but still living in an £11m pound mansion. He is 38 right? He has no idea of other people's sufferings in this country. Go spend ONE night in Bradford, walk the streets. Nah. Just go back to your mansion and don't come back mate. Be happy. All the best but leave us alone in our rainy island. Especially if you get jitters every time you fly into London in your private jet or first class BA ticket. Enough said.

Yeah.

Yeah.

What on earth ? So the rest of the RF don't live a life of privilege or these comments are just reserved for Harry?
