Why are H&M "less important" now?

thefoggiest · 17/09/2022 09:16

Let's not make this a bashing thread!
But in another thread yesterday it occured to me that the way I see it, I just get the sense that with the queens death they almost drop a rank. But that doesnt make sense? If anything shouldn't they now feel more important? Now that her majesty has gone it just feels like they become more distant somehow. Could it be to do with the passing of a generation, so they are no longer "the youth"?

By the way this isnt based on any facts or anything I've read, just a feeling on it. Can anyone explain? Am I right or wrong?

H&M are grieving the Queen and they have to deal with this. Very very sad and shameful.

wast542 · 23/09/2022 20:47

Because they aren't working royals so they actually have dropped rank and importance

Behave lol, I'm sure they don't need you to write a lament for them.... 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

You've still not managed to nail ONE down for me. Come on, it's not that hard.

I told you that I found the number of different examples of bullying behaviour from a number different people shocking. What about that don’t you understand?

you still have failed to say why you do not find all these examples shocking. It’s not like it is normal behaviour, is it?

Not really. Harry is now 5th in line. Son of a King. Three books coming out in quick succession with Harry and Meghan as the main characters. All bash fests but no one wants to read about the others, clearly.

Not shocking to me. I'll leave this here. We're not going to agree. Ta.

Is MN OK with named public figures being called 'racist' without evidence on their forum?

It's a good thing you're an anonymous poster, because you could find yourself in legal trouble if you actually came out and made those claims in person.

Speaking of which, when is Meghan going to sue over all these 'false claims'? Mind you, she didn't sue over the Sunday Times article, despite being notoriously litigious. Which leads one to draw the obvious conclusion.

Are you kidding right now? So Meghan can be called all sorts of names, together with her husband but this poster can't say someone is racist?

So the other thread is full - now people are coming to this thread to bash Meghan and Harry. They live rent free in your heads - how sad!

Snog · 23/09/2022 21:00

It is interesting how the most frequent posters accuse others of being "obsessed"

I guess she can say what she likes, so long as MN are happy about it.

But if you're going to accuse named public figures of something as serious as racism, you really should be able to back that up. Unless, of course, you think 'racism' is a handy word to throw around when you run out of arguments.

Who did she name - Boris?
I thought that was publicly known?

"So it seems very futile to me. But what do I know? I speak only as a person who does not seek gratification from attempting to diminish another human being – especially when I have no power to do so."

So it is surely incongruous FirstTM that you have made so much effort yourself to diminish other posters on this thread for daring to have different opinions to you.

No, not at all. I have simply sought to understand why they (like you) dedicate your days (weeks, months, and I’m willing to believe, years) on threads discussing a person you do not know and whose life you have no power to impact. If you have that much time available why not put it to good use. There are many charitable organisations in need of volunteers. Meghan is neither a cause nor disadvantaged that she needs so much of your time.

Why don't you just read the quote history? And other quotes from the same person throwing the 'racism' accusation around with gleeful abandon.

CaptainBarbosa · 23/09/2022 21:07

I mean if nobody minds getting back on track...😳

One thing I did not in "that article" posted earlier was Harry's concern about having less impact when George gets to 18.

So to bring us back on theme, if everyone is ok with that.

I wonder if H and M by stepping back (for whatever reason, it's clear there is disagreement about the reason why) have accelerated this reduction in "importance".

Lots of reference to Harry being concerned about being like his uncles when the heir becomes of "age". So is it a natural sorta thing in the RF for the spares to "loose importance"

BigBamBoom · 23/09/2022 21:11

They absolutely will lose importance as they continue to move down the line of succession (well, Harry, as Meghan's not in the line of succession). Their mistake I think is in trying to cash in now rather than slowly build credibility. Harry was doing that with Invictus. Can't think what's gone wrong.

That's true, but Charles only has two sons. And his plans for a 'streamlined' monarchy didn't include bringing in various cousins, nieces and nephews as 'working royals'. So even if Harry was always going to become more constitutionally irrelevant, which frankly he has been since the day George was born, he could still have had a major role to play. He could have developed his own projects and patronages over years, even decades.

Yes, he'd likely have got less press attention as the focus switched to George and his siblings, but that would have been a plus for him surely?

It ties in with talk of him always feeling frustrated at being ‘second best’ and a ‘spare’. So difficult to know but entirely possible he did feel like his time in life was limited to make an impact on the things he was passionate about.

I know he can be quite a pouting teenager but I did feel for him not being able to wear the Queens initials and for being uninvited to the state reception. It did seem a bit humiliating.

Harry has always spoken about having limited time to make an impact, it's not a new conversation. The spotlight won't be on him forever, he's never shied away from acknowledging that.

He was just in the UK to visit WellChild and off to Germany to commemorate the countdown to Invictus which is going strong. This year's game was a success, which will hopefully be repeated this year.

Dinoteeth · 23/09/2022 21:20

Where is the evidence he was uninvited to the state reception, against just not being invited in the first place?

Was any other non-working royal invited?
Andrew, Bea, Eugenie, Peter or Zara?
