Do Camilla and Charles live separately?

She was dropped off in Wiltshire. I was surprised they didn't stay together today.

I'm not hating btw just genuinely curious and I kind of admire her for creating her own space if
It's true.

ALSO, because it's driving me crazy, did Anne and Tim separate briefly back in the nougties?

I'm sure I remember it being announced on Sky, but it was never mentioned again and he seemed to continue accompanying her to Royal engagements.

I imagine he’s an absolute pita

Camilla has said he’s a fabulous grandfather to all of the grandchildren, hers included, that he reads them the Harry Potter stories and has different voices for all of the characters.

Anne and her husband are not together. She is involved with Andrew Parker Bowles these days

Seriously? I know they had a relationship before he married Camilla.

APB is in his 80’s now and Commander Tim is late 60’s. Doubt there is any hot loving going on with APB. As another local to Gatcombe I can confirm lots of informal socialising done by Tim and Anne, he is lovely man.

When me and my husband unexpectedly came into a lot of money the first thing we did was buy separate residences for during the week and we have never been happier in 16 years! I have my home decorated as I like, it’s full of throws and cushions and rugs and books and is my comfy little hide away. My husbands home is all chrome and glass and dark wood, just as he likes it! No arguing over chores, no annoyance with what’s on tv, it’s bliss to be honest. He pops over during the week when he’s at his office, he takes the kids to his over night so I get evenings in peace to myself, as does he when I have them. Then we come together Friday evening until Sunday night for family trips out, meals together and so on. I could never live full time with a man again! Good on Camilla she knows the drill.

That sounds bloody fantastic!

Sorry - and wee Louis was very keen to spend time sitting on his Grandads lap at the Jubilee concert

It's fairly well known that Charles is an introvert, and hates noise. Camilla keeps her own home for entertaining her children and grandchildren.

I'd happily do the same should we be able to afford it. HM and PP often lived separately - he lived at Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate for many years. They only lived together again during the pandemic.

But yes didnt PP have a special friend? (Seen at his funeral).

But again like many I would never live full time with a partner if I could avoid it. Luxury - yes.

Gossip from 2003. Taking quite a while to sort out the practicalities! Grin

Cara87 · 15/09/2022 19:25

Aw Charles seems close to William’s kids to be fair. Louis ran to him and sat on his knee during (I think) the jubilee or Wimbledon - wherever it was he was carrying on with Boris and the Tindalls behind him

I heard ages ago that Anne and her husband are not really an item any more, but she can't divorce again.

She married T on the 'rebound' from her marriage. T was an affair when she was married to Mark. Maybe she felt she had to marry him.

Camilla kept her old house as a bolthole where she could do what she wanted to without being on show as a Royal at Highgrove.

Lorrymum · 15/09/2022 19:25

Fabulous to have your own property to retreat to. I have problems keeping ownership of my side of the bed!

greenhousegal · 15/09/2022 19:26

I would say things might change a bit for Camilla now that she is Queen Consort. I said on another thread that I get the feeling that she is not comfortable at big formal gigs, so I wonder will she cope with more joint public appearances with the King. Her time may not be her own as much as it used to be. But she knew this was coming.

I am older too, have had a terrific partner for over 30 years, no kids, no prior marriages, just that. We have separate homes and always had. It does work beautifully, but people always raise their eyebrows when they hear of our living arrangements. I think they are envious and would love to do it themselves!

Cara87 · 15/09/2022 19:27

If they weren’t together, separate lives etc why would be accompany her all week though?

AffIt · 15/09/2022 19:27

I am enormously fond of my OH and find him great company / lots of fun, but holy hell, if I suddenly came into the sort of money that would allow me to buy a wee place to myself I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Maybe next door or something. That would be good.

DillDanding · 15/09/2022 19:27

Yes, I believe Anne and Tim are long separated. Charles and Camilla keep separate mansions, but then the queen and Phillip lived separately for decades. His base was sandringham and hers was Windsor.

Wouldn't it be fabulous to have another house to pop off to when you were in need of time alone? Especially if one of you is a bit messy and the other one is uber-neat 🤣 Good for Camilla - she is ace.

And have you seen the house on the news? Gorgeous house!

What an absolute joy to have your own personal house that you could go off to whenever you wanted. I'd love it!

I'd never come back Grin

I’ll probably be crucified for saying this- but could Anne have been waiting for her parents to die before she divorced again?

TwinGirlsOnTheWay · 15/09/2022 19:29

Do any of these royals have a happy marriage apart from Harry and Meghan? Wow

Penny Knatchbull, was married to PP's godson. Friend of HMQ as well. They both supported her when her five year old died with kidney cancer in the 90s.

NiqueNique · 15/09/2022 19:31

Why wouldn’t they have happy marriages?

Awful thing to say this week, especially after seeing his continuous support of PA.

I would imagine most of them do. They're together and supportive and seem happy enough.

MaChienEstUnDick · 15/09/2022 18:48

I would absolutely love this, however I dont need a squad of royal protection officers following me around. I think, given the size of their respective homes, they surely should be able to have a wing each and save the taxpayer a wee bit of money?

Most of the houses mentioned here are privately owned by the occupants, so not at a cost to the taxpayer. There's a big difference between Crown properties (e.g. Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace, Holyrood House) and those owned by the family who happen to be the Royal Family e.g. Gatcombe Park (P Anne), Sandringham (Was QE2, now presumably the King) Balmoral (same), Highgrove (the King). One lot are part of the Crown Estates, with all income earned e.g. from farms, visitors etc, going to the Government in return for the Civil List, the others purchased by personal wealth same as any rich family could do finances permitting.

The only saving would be on protection, and a lot of that is assigned to the person and follow them from one residence to another
