I hope Camilla has changed into some flats!

I really respect Anne for breaking the mould and walking for her grandmother/father and now mother. In her unshowy way she has brought about real change.

She isnt recognised enough

I really need to go walk the dog but I am sucked in now. This means more to me than the big state funeral. It is so familiarly Church of Scotland.

I felt that way too. I particularly liked the 23rd Psalm being sung to Crimond. Made me quite teary and reminded me of my childhood.

Apparently it was also sung at the Queen and Prince Philip's wedding.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 12/09/2022 18:26

i was hoping someone would give camilla a cup of tea and a biscuit

PAFMO · 12/09/2022 18:29

I agree, they both look exhausted.
I bet in the midst of all this, they just want to put their slippers on and have a piece of toast, an early night, and a cuppa.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 12/09/2022 18:32

Camilla is 75

SuperCamp · 12/09/2022 18:34

Charles flinched when he was addressed as ‘your majesty’ at the start of the Scottish parliament event. 70 years of hearing that address being for his Mother. Must be so hard.

PizzaFunghi · 12/09/2022 18:43

And emotionally, all these events, services etc, constantly having to say thank you for your condolences, must be so so hard. You never get a break and just time to relax and be yourself.

Everything has to have a separate speech, too, as every single word will be recorded and printed, so has to be perfect for each occasion, never slipping. And the less formal stuff too, stil has to be perfect, or someone will report it somewhere and it'll stay with him forever.

I can't imagine how hard it is to have essentially constant funeral type stuff for a whole week and more.

Scotland has done Queen Elizabeth proud.

Here is a link to the Order of Service at St. Giles today.

“Service of thanksgiving for the life of her Majesty the Queen”

PizzaFunghi · 12/09/2022 18:45

he must spend half him days writing or practising speeches right now, whenever he's not at an event! I'm sure there are speech writers and advisors to help, but I'm sure the main points are done by him

He shouted. 'Andrew you're a sex ..'. I didn't catch the last word. He was swiftly yanked backwards.

I can pretty much guarantee the last work wasnt “god”.

This family does, after all, take black clothes with them whenever they go away in case someone dies.

The Queen brought that rule in when she was caught out after her father’s death. She had to change on the plane after it landed in London as she had no black outfit with her in Kenya.

I think Viscount Severn is probably a bit too young, although perhaps he'd want to do it if he's the only one not doing otherwise? Unless Sophie stayed with him, although that's probably isn't protocol (it would be lovely though).

The Wessexes used to go around for tea and to watch the telly with the Queen and Prince Philip quite a lot apparently.

The thing I saw said that the plan in place was for all 8 grandchildren to do a shift at the vigil of princes after the four children.

Viscount Severn's age would have been known when making those plans as the Queen didn't die unexpectedly young and the plans are revisited regularly. On that basis I would have thought he would be involved. He will be doing what his father and sister do, and will be accompanied by his cousins the whole time.

I guess there might be an alternative plan if he doesn't feel able.

MaggieFS · 12/09/2022 19:20

Start again having deleted the words Prince Charles! King Charles' schedule really is crazy isn't it. I do think it's important he visits Wales and NI, but I guess there might be a little down time for him once HMQ is lying in stage in London for the four days?

Accepting the keys to Edinburgh just two hours after leaving Westminster Hall! Nuts.

Is this kind of tour with precedent? What happened in previous times prior to air travel?

I love the royal family..and feel so sorry that Andrew got heckled on his mothers kind of funeral… but watching the vigil; is anyone else thinking he must be se nervous about sweating 😂

Beachbreak2411 · 12/09/2022 19:50

And I want to give Charles and Sophie a hug.

AngelasEyelash · 12/09/2022 19:54

Does anyone else think it's massively inappropriate for the cameras to be zooming in for close ups whilst the Queen's children are standing round her coffin in StvGiles?

Beachbreak2411 · 12/09/2022 19:55

I can’t imagine having to stand by my mums coffin for so long with my own thoughts and everyone watching

SuperCamp · 12/09/2022 19:56

I am finding the vigil unwatchable. Could they not at least have been given a private moment? To be standing there, apart from each other, while the public file past and look at them. With their mothers coffin behind them. It’s inhuman.

Yes, it’s dreadful. Prurience at its worst. I bet they’re very glad that’s over.

Yes. Grotesquely intrusive.

SuperCamp · 12/09/2022 19:58

Thank god that is over.

Charles must be utterly exhausted.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 12/09/2022 20:00

camilla looked so cold when she came out, hope she doesnt catch a chill

MrsLargeEmbodied · 12/09/2022 20:01

a tad unnecessary to be on display
