I hope Camilla has changed into some flats!

Does anyone know how to find the procession toWestminster on iplayer today?

This happens every day, its not clear where the various news items are. Everything is just titled 'news special' and the news specials that I can find are not what I want

NiqueNique · 14/09/2022 17:52

Try YouTube. It’s pretty good for footage.

NiqueNique · 14/09/2022 17:52

(If you can’t find elsewhere, I mean)

stemthetide · 14/09/2022 17:52

It isn't on iplayer yet. It would be the programme that started at 1pm. The procession was from around 2,20pm.

bellac11 · 14/09/2022 18:42

I found a version on youtube, but its not as good as the BBC normally is, I like all the build up but it seemed to start around 2pm on this programme I found.

I find youtube quite difficult to find things on but this will do

Music is strange, almost cheerfull

toomuchlaundry · 14/09/2022 19:18

BBC seem to be showing it again

bellac11 · 14/09/2022 19:27

My god this is so frustrating, Ive found a number of clips on youtube and every single one of them cuts out at around the time the coffin is at the door of the hall. One was sky news, one was the bbc, one was the royal family channel which just cuts to the outside of the building as the family walk into the hall

Who uploads these clips they're rubbish

The BBC site just says 'this episode will be available soon' on the schedule when you go into programmes

You wouldnt think its this hard to find a recording of something massive that happened today

MrsAvocet · 14/09/2022 19:58

Its on BBC 1 now.

Benefi · 14/09/2022 20:56

I've just watched half an hour a few minutes of the live stream of people paying their respects. Much more dignified now. It's in silence, no phones or clapping and many people wearing mourning.

toomuchlaundry · 14/09/2022 20:58

Not allowed to use phones in there

Benefi · 14/09/2022 21:30

Quite.

CPL593H · 14/09/2022 21:31

I'm certain I saw the Duke of Kent walking with the family. I knew he was over 80, but he's 87 and was in a uniform with a sword. Touched by this and impressed.

Benefi · 14/09/2022 21:35

It was the Duke of Gloucester wasn't it?

CPL593H · 14/09/2022 21:51

I was certain I recognised him but can't find a clip to confirm it know the DoG was there so am sure you're right. He was definitely in the family group in front of the catafalque at Westminster Hall though, standing next to Prince Michael.

CPL593H · 14/09/2022 21:55

Yep, bit more digging, Gloucester was the only cousin who walked. My eyes!

JustLyra · 14/09/2022 22:06

The Duke of Kent and Prince Michael joined the group in Westminster Hall.

The way the DOK walked out showed there was no way he’d have managed to walk the 40 min procession.

The Duke of Gloucester is the youngest of the cousins at 78.

CPL593H · 14/09/2022 22:14

Yes, I missed him walking out of WH and quite agree having seen it now, no way could he have done that walk.

Benefi · 15/09/2022 07:45

Things seem to have changed this morning. The queue is moving quicker, fewer people are stopping to bow or genuflect etc. Also, they've just changed the watch and people gathered to watch rather than moving on.

Benefi · 15/09/2022 07:47

There's definitely a speeding up. Fair enough if the person in front wants to stop but you are guided to walk around them and continue.

LIZS · 15/09/2022 08:01

Teresa May just went through, apparently mps get priority passes to skip the line.

LIZS · 15/09/2022 08:02

I think there is a pause every time the guard changes.

PAFMO · 15/09/2022 08:49

Yes, I watched a bit live last night and there was a good few minutes of holding the line back while the guard changed.

MaggieFS · 15/09/2022 10:09

Thanks for all the comments on yesterday's procession. Pesky work has got in the way of my viewing the last few days but I recorded the Sky News coverage and will try and watch it back this evening.

I did catch the news article on BBC news last night. Ben Ben striking was remarkably somber.

I was wondering what "what3words" meant on the BBC News graphic so I googled and found this Grin

I found today quite moving and I wouldn't say I am particularly patriotic/royalist. But it's been beautifully orchestrated and there is something wonderful about the way these ancient ceremonies and traditions are maintained yet with a degree of modernity.
I liked the fact that the officer in charge of the gun carriage, the only officer on horseback I think, was female. I think the Queen would have approved of that. In fact the increased female presence in many ways is significant I think - a female Prime Minister, female Black Rod, female troops in the parade etc, even Princess Anne walking and taking an equal part in the vigil with her brothers would have all been completely inconceivable when the Queen came to the throne. We're long way from equality still of course, but it's significant to see those changes all the same.

We were on the Mall yesterday but have watched back bbc coverage and found it more moving to see the context and ceremony in full.
