I hope Camilla has changed into some flats!

I was so worried about the pall bearer at the front with the sandy coloured hair..he was concentrating so hard and getting redder and redder in the face..did so well in such a tense situation.

So presumably they've also already made King Charles' coffin, and the Queen Consort's?

They might well have. Given Charles's age, planning for the next London Bridge will probably have already started. This family does, after all, take black clothes with them whenever they go away in case someone dies.

But a beautiful, restrained, almost spare service - perfect.

It is the epitome of any CofS service in any church in Scotland. It reminds me so much of my dear departed granny who took me to the Kirk with her when I was young.

It's very Kirk isn't it.

littlbrowndog · 12/09/2022 15:59

It is it’s doesn’t seem like pomp and ceremony just personal

bellac11 · 12/09/2022 15:59

As an atheist what is different about this service to others?

It all looks very churchy and cathedrally to me, same as any church service?

Figgygal · 12/09/2022 15:59

I just wish everyone would put their bloody phones down

I had hoped the Duke of Hamilton might take the opportunity to unruffle that bit of the royal standard on the coffin. It's bothering me slightly.

Just seen what you mean.

Blossomtoes · 12/09/2022 16:00

It’s a beautiful simple service. It’s a huge shame it’s not the actual funeral.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 12/09/2022 16:02

Such lovely music. I get the feeling that this is about the woman, not the queen. Almost like a private funeral of a much loved family member.

LakieLady · 12/09/2022 16:02

Mooserp · 12/09/2022 15:46

Do you think when she went up to Balmoral that it was with the intention of never coming back?

That thought crossed my mind when Johnson and Truss went up to Balmoral for the resignation/appointment last week.

Mooserp · 12/09/2022 16:02

Seen the video of the protestor being taken down by a big bloke. Then led away by police

littlbrowndog · 12/09/2022 16:03

Yes mrs Danvers. That’s it

Worriedaboutethics · 12/09/2022 16:03

@MaggieFS

was beautiful

It's exactly like that.

Worriedaboutethics · 12/09/2022 16:04

@MrsDanversGlidesAgain

agree

Chumbazumba · 12/09/2022 16:05

The music is particularly simple and beautiful - the clàrsach moved me to tears. Agree very much that this feels like a personal service for a Scottish lady who loved the country and its traditions and history.

They have coffins, and funeral plans, for all the senior royals.

LakieLady · 12/09/2022 16:07

I'm not religious at all, but I agree it's a lovely service.

All the more moving for its simplicity imo.

LIZS · 12/09/2022 16:08

This feels so personal and appropriate, I hope the Windsor service when they eventually reach it, will be similar and give the Royal Family a genuine chance to say goodbye.

littlbrowndog · 12/09/2022 16:09

The archers guarding her

toomuchlaundry · 12/09/2022 16:09

Wonder how long their shift will be?

snowballer · 12/09/2022 16:09

Beautiful service and a very moving procession to the cathedral too. I can't quite get my head round the Queen actually being in the coffin though. It seems so unreal.

I’m a Church of Scotland minister, and it looks pretty fancy to me! Even in Scotland, cathedral services do tend to be pretty High though.

ApolloandDaphne · 12/09/2022 16:10

I think some of the royal family plan to remain in a vigil for her.
