The Palace seems to be Leaking like a Sieve

These people are apparently worried about what Harry will write in his memoir but we've somehow managed to get a play by play of what has gone on this week.

From blocking Meghan's visit to Balmoral to how the joint greeting of well wishers came about.

Please note that these writers are making it clear they are speaking to Palace sources.

Now when H&M start speaking (in defense of themselves), people will complain.

Prince William and Harry’s reconciliation is just for mourning, not for life

Bombshell text from William to Harry that sparked an unexpected show of family unity after the pair failed to meet at Balmoral in the hours after Queen's death, writes RICHARD KAY

There was a documentary on Diana’s death recently that was really interesting. They interviewed a journalist who said some things
about how they sourced their information that would make your hair curl. He openly admitted that they just made things up to sell papers. It’s worth really questioning what the papers say. Best to watch body language, listen to what the people concerned say and do.

Sally872 · 13/09/2022 16:39

I assume Meghan realised it would be better not to risk any additional tension at such a sad time so didn't go, and I expect that Harry agreed that was best, especially when they found out Kate wasn't going as it means Meghan less likely to be criticised for not going.

If they were told not to go and didn't agree then Harry wouldn't have went and they would have spoken about it. Either they decided or agreed.

SilverLiningPlaybook · 13/09/2022 16:44

It sounds to me like the two of them decided just to go without speaking to Charles or William. Omid Scobie released the news. C and W heard about it and quickly told H not to bring M.
apparently Charles and William were having dinner at Birkhall and the rest of the family were at Balmoral. So I imagine it wasn’t a great welcoming committee when H arrived. All very awkward. The family probably wanted to be on their own that night to come to terms with things.

Anything with Richard Kay's byline should be assumed to be more or less entirely made up. I'm pretty sure his "source" is usually his old Aunty May who has been watching the royals for years.... And he has a huge anti-Meghan vibe. Not so long ago he was the pool reporter on something, got it 100% wrong, then 12 hours later sort of casually fixed it - but by that point, it had spread across Twitter like wildfire.

He is an embarrassment to the entire profession of journalism.

Wonnle · 13/09/2022 17:09

If it's written in any newspaper it's highly likely to be lies lies and more lies .

These "sources" don't exist

antelopevalley · 13/09/2022 17:31

I have no idea of these stories are true or made up. But all the Royal Family leak to the press. All of them. It started during the time of Diana and Charles and has continued since then.

sunshinesupermum · 13/09/2022 17:37

That is because Kate is behaving like a princess and keeping a low profile as she should. M wants everything to be about her. She says the left the UK because everyone deserves privacy and then she sells her soul to the press.

This. 100%.

antelopevalley · 13/09/2022 17:40

@sunshinesupermum Kate leaks like the rest of them.

Twillow · 13/09/2022 17:46

It's the Daily Mail. Practically a work of fiction.

sunshinesupermum · 13/09/2022 17:52

antelopevalley Not since the Queen's death and I suspect there will be less now she is elevated to Princess of Wales and William is next in line to the throne.

antelopevalley · 13/09/2022 17:55

@sunshinesupermum perhaps. We will wait and see.

PeekAtYou · 13/09/2022 17:57

We don't know if current policy will be "never complain, never explain" Charles wanted to issue a point by point rebuttal of the Oprah interview but went along with the Queen's plan.

I would expect the PR pieces to start in a month or so when the good will from press and sympathy from the public wants and things go back to business as usual.

Adultchildofelderlyparents · 13/09/2022 17:59

You are a fool to believe any of this is true. The media literally make these stories up. I used to work for national newspapers. "Palace sources" are just journalists.

PeekAtYou · 13/09/2022 17:59

Of course they are all leaking like colanders (including Kate)

antelopevalley · 13/09/2022 18:01

Palace sources are sometimes staff briefed by Royal Family members.

@PeekAtYou Good point about Charles. Je jas already been interviewed complaining about Diana and his own mother. He does not seem the type to say nothing.

Shortandfurry301 · 13/09/2022 18:13

As an aside, Harry and William having to survey that sea of flowers, must have brought awful memories back for them. It was good they both had their wives with them.

Surtsey · 13/09/2022 18:35

For 'palace source' read 'journalist made it up'.

They do that. I have a friend who is very much in the public eye and she's had newspaper editors actually ring her up for a quote and when told 'no comment', they've said, okay, we'll just make something up then.

It would be poor taste to feature Kate as a new Princess of Wales when the Queen is being mourned . There must be only one focus.

I wonder if Meghan and Harry will be regretting ceasing working royals duties, when they see the heads of states from around the world descending on London and imagining what could have been with each of them being assigned a couple of kings, sheikhs and prime ministers to entertain and keep a hostful eye on.

I'm thinking that Harry's book might be changed to include: ' I think we got it a bit wrong about the discussion of race and Archie's title. I think we were a bit emotional and over reacted when speaking to our friend, Oprah. These editors, they do splice things together to create a weird impression, sometimes.' And my dear wife fancies ' Princess Harry of Scotland' , if you're reading this, Daddy.'.

This doesn't make sense. All those diplomats, leaders, kings, etc still acknowledge the fact they're part of the royal family... because they are. It's just weird British people who want to excise them from existence.

MarshaMelrose · 13/09/2022 19:05

There's nothing in those reports that we didn't already know or couldn't guess. Total shocker that Kate is pissed off with Meghan. Kate wouldn't even make eye contact with them and Meghan was obviously nervous and never stopped playing with her hair.
I remember a Sun journalist saying that a close source was usually the guy sat at the desk next to him. Omid Scobie told US news that the Queen would be going by train from Edinburgh to London. Ahem. They know diddley squit!
And if they did leak and got the jump on Harry, then I guess they eventually learned the lesson he taught. He who speaks first is believed most. Another chapter for Harrys book: how I was outgunned at Windsor.

BerriesOnTop · 13/09/2022 19:08

I was thinking the same thing about Kate actually. Kates side is keeping a strangely low profile

The move to Windsor was probably intended to sideline her while PW stayed in London. This threw the whole arrangement into disarray, probably.

Diverseopinions · 13/09/2022 19:19

JingsMahBucket

They are not working royals and so are not given hosting duties to stand in for the monarch.

Their royal roles and profiles would have been higher, had they stayed. What is accepted is that Harry and their children are blood relatives of the RF, but they've been told that, when it comes to work, they either have to be in or out, and can't straggle both identities.

If this is the case it was a pretty poorly thought through plan, given the queen’s age and health.
And why would they want to sideline her? I’m not in favour of a monarchy, but isn’t Kate one of the more popular members?

After the things the Scum did to a friend of mine at university I can believe anything. The lies they told. It still makes me sick to my stomach and it was nearly 40 years ago. If she told us first we could have done something to try & stop it. Vile vile people.

The Royal men do not appear to like their wives to be more popular with the public than they are.
