These people are apparently worried about what Harry will write in his memoir but we've somehow managed to get a play by play of what has gone on this week.

From blocking Meghan's visit to Balmoral to how the joint greeting of well wishers came about.

Please note that these writers are making it clear they are speaking to Palace sources.

Now when H&M start speaking (in defense of themselves), people will complain.

Prince William and Harry’s reconciliation is just for mourning, not for life

Bombshell text from William to Harry that sparked an unexpected show of family unity after the pair failed to meet at Balmoral in the hours after Queen's death, writes RICHARD KAY

I understand that Lady Colin Campbell is the only palace source that you can rely on for genuine information.

Most reliable up there with the champion sources and all those "experts"

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 13/09/2022 20:57

If these "sources" were true, then they'd be easy to identify given that one of them said that Harry dined alone at Balmoral that night.

There cannot be more than 10 people thay actually knows whether that is true.

OP do you not realise that when the Mil or Express say 'a source at BP/KP/Clarence House' or 'a source close to the POW/Sussexes, Duke of Cambridge' what they actually mean is 'The journo at the next desk suggested this idea'?

antelopevalley · 13/09/2022 21:03

We know that Diana and Charles constantly briefed journalists to five their side during the divorce. The Royals still brief journalists.

Port1aCastis · 13/09/2022 21:05

When I read the title to this thread I thought oh bloody hell how much will it cost thee and me the taxpayer to fix these leaks in Buck House's roof.
😀😀

NotLactoseFree · 13/09/2022 21:07

It actually makes me so angry that these papers even exist. I once sat through an absolutely heart rending inquest for a young man who died too young. I was there for the entire thing - took most of a day. I read about it in the papers the following day - what the tabloids wrote vs what I saw bore about as much resemblance as my cat does to Ghandi and all they did was stir up the most astonishing amount of trauma and pain, most notably for the young man's parents.

How they are allowed to continue to exist is completely beyond me.

MarshaMelrose · 13/09/2022 23:00

I watched the Depp-Heard trial and when I read the reports the next day, they were like we watched two different trials. Now I'm not sure that I would have found the same outcome as the jury, but surely the least journalists can do is report the actual facts rather than facts curated to fit a purpose, especially as it's all available on the Internet to check.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 14/09/2022 09:58

Kate leaks like the rest of them.

Yes - to the point where journo Camilla Tominey publicly tweeted thanks to KM's mother for the information she was feeding her. I can understand KM's nose was pushed out of joint when MM came on the scene but I can't condone her behaviour and I'm surprised the RF didn't tell her to be nicer. Although there are various reasons why they need to give KM everything she wants so 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think that the working royals are doing a job. You can explicitly tell one of them that they are going to be showing a new member the ropes, but you can't dictate how they should socialise on a personal level: like: "You must go to the shops with her twice a week!!!". " You must have coffee with her and your own friends three times a week!!!!!"

I'm amazed that some people think that the RF members are like the Kardashians, performing a curated version of their normal lives, for the cameras, so that they can all look like great people and will be able to make wads of money from the publicity and ensuing merchandising opportunities. The Royal Family really is a very different institution retained to play a proscribed constitutional role. It isn't a BUSINESS.

Crikeyalmighty · 14/09/2022 11:37

I wish everyone would take note that the press are there these days to sell papers , magazines and digital clicks, conflict sells as does romance and death !!! It is simply not always very accurate or balanced - that doesn't make for copy that attracts sales/clicks

It is a business. Prince Philip recognised this.

Huge eye opener for me how Meghan behaved to two of the aides over the flowers. An insight into what it must be like to work for her.

You've phrased this like a criticism (maybe I've misread the tone?) but do you mean the bit where an aide offered to take the flowers Meghan was holding and she said no because she'd promised to lay them. And then handed them a bit later to a different aide and asked her to lay them?

To me, that looked like someone who wasn't sure of the protocol (eg would she be criticised for just handing over flowers she had said she'd lay at the gates) but then when Harry gave some flowers to the aide, she realised that it was fine.

SmallPrawnEnergy · 14/09/2022 14:15

I’m amazing how many people here think they know the ins and outs of the RF, their staff and their possibly non-existent or definitely real sources.

It’s pathetic.

RaRaRaspoutine · 13/09/2022 15:01

It's all really interesting actually. I can't really articulate it very well but it's almost like something has blown wide open and the tone is very strange. I expected massive adultation about Kate being the princess of Wales and a load of puff-pieces, which basically haven't materialised from her camp. The arguments around free speech and the media have already started in earnest (has anyone seen the play King Charles III by Mike Bartlett...?) Vanessa Feltz openly pushed back against Angela Levin re; Meghan at the walkabout. It seems like something's shifted. There's some utter shit about Meghan wearing a wire now that's on twitter (clearly nonsense), and the wider public seem to be coming down more on H&M's side now that stuff like Rebecca English lying about H&M not staying to greet the public have been thoroughly refuted.

I think Kate is playing it perfectly tbh. She is keeping a low profile which is highly appropriate given that these events are not (at this moment anyway) about her or her husband but primarily about the late Queen and the new King. She's an intelligent woman.

Thistleinthenight · 14/09/2022 16:30

It's all bullshit. And the Daily Mail hate Meghan.

AmusableDragon · 14/09/2022 22:11

SenecaFallsRedux · 14/09/2022 23:18

I have a question. Does the British public get their news primarily from print sources rather than digital? I ask because a Daily Mail discussion popped up on YouTube, and they were talking about how the Wales-Sussex walkabout was ill-timed because it stole Charles's limelight in that the newspaper headlines the next day were full of that instead of Charles's accession ceremonies which were held earlier that same day.

I am a news junkie and consume a lot of news here in the US, and I can't remember the last time my hands touched newsprint. I read all the articles about the accession ceremony online, watched video of it, and then did the same later for the walkabout. I just find it odd to be so concerned about next day's headlines. It's not 1950.

From the body language, it was pretty obvious to me Meghan wasn’t disrespecting the aide, rather giving some kind of information about ‘over there’ and looking a bit anxious and for a certain amount of reassurance/approval. It is easy to fall for the commentary from those, who wish to stir up trouble.

It’s the same as when the desk wasn’t right a couple of days ago and KC pulled a gritted teeth expression, it was a kind of I am bloody stressed can you push that over there a bit because I’m not supposed to do it myself and I’m mic’d up so can’t talk either. He looked like Wallace from Wallace and Grommit. Had his expression been contempt, his top lip would have been up and it wasn’t.

Well considering part of his mother’s anxiety was not being properly inducted on royal protocol why does the hand-holding, family-ditching, doting idiot give Meghan a heads up about what might be expected? Instead of leaving her floundering like a muppet?

Stressybetty · 14/09/2022 23:49

Love Lady C, she's a bit bonkers but I think can be relied on for the truth

The least he could have done is help her with the national anthem. I mean it's seven lines long and contains 20 different words. It must have been an absolute nightmare for her to learn that.
