Now when H&M start speaking (in defense of themselves), people will complain.

I think Scobie’s a contributor rather than a correspondent. he’s paid by appearance rather an employee for ABC.

He’s an editor at yahoo ‘news’. I’ve read one or two of his dreadful articles. He’s not really a journalist rather than a ‘promoter’ of the Sussex’s.

i don’t think he’s got any royal accreditation so has to spend his time retweeting as he’s not allowed into press conferences or press rooms

Just checked again - he is on ABC as a royal contributor. He appears regularly on breakfast TV (Good Morning America) as a pundit for royal news and is a royal editor at large for Bazaar. He has also written for Yahoo news (which I also question) but has written for other publications. He is a regular journalist whatever you may think of him.

I don’t believe that journalists representing non British media or independent journalists are on the royal rota - would be happy to be corrected.

Seriously - he does the same job many other pundits in this country do. They appear on TV talking about their topic of expertise and help pad out breakfast tv shows, panel shows (like Jeremy Vine) and the news. He has an obvious bias but that is why they pick him and why panels pick certain people.

Angela Levin, Dan Wootton, Julia Hartley-Brewer, Richard Littlejohn, Matthew Wright, Kevin McGuire - all of these people are journalists but I would hope you are aware are not impartial. I’ve included each of them as they each have a very specific viewpoint which colours their commentary. Like I said - you may not like his bias but it is just as valid as any other journalist and does not mean that he is the spokesperson for them any more than Angela Levin could be called Camilla’s spokesperson.

It’s ok to say that you don’t like him because of his flag waving for H&M but all of this belittling of someone you don’t really know is unbecoming.

Well.... the BBC must think he's okay. He was a major contributor on the documentary on BBC 2 called brothers at war or something.
And I will say he came across really well. I have no views about him

Scobie was interviewed for the BBC doc on the princes and the press and I was expecting him to be some sort of deranged fanboy but he came across well. His comments were measured and thoughtful, which was more than I could say for the more experienced journalists on the programme. He certainly seemed more rational than desperate Dan Wootten or that awful Camilla Too-moany.

I agree with you Nana. The trouble is though there will be a post somewhere over the next few days stating as fact that the children have been in the country since the weekend, because 'I read it on Mumsnet', and some will be daft enough to believe it.

Actually I think both camps are batshit, the ones who comdemn H&M on everything and the ones who would defend anything. I have a hope that most people are in the middle and realise we really don't know that much.
