The Palace seems to be Leaking like a Sieve

These people are apparently worried about what Harry will write in his memoir but we've somehow managed to get a play by play of what has gone on this week.

From blocking Meghan's visit to Balmoral to how the joint greeting of well wishers came about.

Please note that these writers are making it clear they are speaking to Palace sources.

Now when H&M start speaking (in defense of themselves), people will complain.

Prince William and Harry’s reconciliation is just for mourning, not for life

Bombshell text from William to Harry that sparked an unexpected show of family unity after the pair failed to meet at Balmoral in the hours after Queen's death, writes RICHARD KAY

I’m not sure bagging a place is something anyone could have done just because they assumed they had a right to be at Balmoral on the day.

Don't quite understand your comment Nana. Mine referenced the fact that @ancientgran and I wouldn't agree on this, because she feels that Balmoral is big enough to have accommodated Meghan when the Queen died, and I think she absolutely should not have been there.

You haven’t added what has been released via Omid Scobie there, though Meanderings. I think most of us realise that he is speaking on behalf of the Sussexes here.

He was the first to state that Meghan would be travelling to Balmoral with Harry, then the one to say the arrangements had changed.

He also tweeted about how the decision of the Wales’s to invite the Sussexes to view the flowers at Windsor was made at the 11th hour.

He tweeted out a photo taken by a photographer of Harry & Meghan standing behind Prince Charles as the Queen’s coffin arrived at Buckingham Palace, which breached an agreement with the press that no photos would be taken of the family once the coffin was actually driven into the grounds of the Palace (he then deleted his tweet).

He released Harry’s statement about how the focus should be on the Queen, not him wearing a uniform.

He broke the press embargo to tweet out what William and Kate are doing today (and then deleted that tweet as well).

So it’s not just the British papers that have been active in this space.

Serenster · 16/09/2022 14:51

Harry’s also had time to have some thoughts of his on the loss of his grandmother passed onto US Weekly magazine by an “insider”.

Scobie is now tweeting that H and M have been invited to attend the State reception on Sunday evening which seems surprising as the original announcement said working royals only.
Does anyone else wonder if there is a bit of Wagatha Christie type shenanigans going on ?

Let me get this straight, so y'all accuse tabloids of making up 'palace source' stories but can't fathom US weekly is making shi* up as well. Funny that.

Your point?? H&M have a spokesperson that they use, Omid was not the only person to share that Meghan was going to Balmoral or the uniform statement for that matter. Acting like it was some special favour to Omid entirely. Jesus, you lot are thick.

Not only the DM have the run down, the DM also told us that it was William who texted Harry. The Daily Mail NOT OMID,

He broke the press embargo to tweet out what William and Kate are doing today (and then deleted that tweet as well).

The fuck does that have to do with Harry?

You do know that all royal reporters will be tweeting that in due time?, not just Omid.

No. It's one of two things: Appeasement (most likely) or softening a forthcoming blow (unlikely).

Or .. …….. not true .

Serenster · 16/09/2022 16:09

Yes, Omid’s not exactly been a picture of accuracy in the last week or so!

MaulPerton I mention for the sake of completeness another possible reason for Omid’s tweet - starting a narrative that the Sussexes were intending to attend, and then shamefully snubbed if they don’t (see his tweeting about Meghan going to Balmoral too)

Yes, indeed. We are up to four possibilities now. It will be interesting to see which one emerges. Following avidly. These royals, eh?!

ancientgran · 16/09/2022 16:42

Arbesque · 15/09/2022 21:13

But they won't be. The Palace has to be aware of the optics and of not hurting people's feelings.

How would Zara or Beatrice or Sarah Chatto etc have felt if they had to read that Meghan had been 'by the Queen's bedside', 'rushed to Balmoral', 'part of Queen's beloved final farewell' or all the other rubbish that the trashy rags and mags spread around? They would have known it wasn't true but it would still have been hurtful and humiliating.

So the trashy tabloids win and life has to be planned round their take on the world. Great.

Or King Charles would like some time with his son who will probably heading back to the US quite soon after the funeral as he and Meghan have been away from their young children for longer than planned.

Yes, very true as well. The possibilities are many, and, of course, it's this very intrigue that keeps us all hooked although I have a sneaking suspicion that KC will appease - royal blood and all that.

Scobie was the only “ reporter” saying they had been invited . Everyone else said it was restricted to working royals which made sense as how would you make small talk with someone like Andrew ?? Or what to say to Meghan who may well spin it to her version ?
Some people will claim it is a snub but it’s a State rather than family event and they left the working part of royal life.

I suspect the children have been in the country from about Last Saturday. Brought here by a Nanny and perhaps their grandma also.

Hopefully but strange that Scobie hasn’t mentioned it ……

Ohnonevermind · 17/09/2022 08:38

I think scobie’s pronouncements are for the American markets

Abraxan · 17/09/2022 08:40

I suspect almost all of it is made up.
Sources are never identified by the press so there is no come back, and they just say what the Mike.

We see it in here all the time. The whole " my friend's sister's aunt works at xx and she said ..." It's all nonsense and often proves to be at a later date.

The press just do it on a bigger scale.

Make up one story and then when it doesn't happen they make up another ti fir their narrative.

I suspect that's what happened with the whole Meghan going to Balmoral. It was probably never in the cards and the press got it wrong initially so made up the rest to fit the new story.

Abraxan · 17/09/2022 08:43

And yes the RF will talk to the press at ti Ed. However you can often tell what the nonsense is. As if the RF have got time to be saying rubbishy gossip right now. Having dealt with funeral planning on a much smaller scale following a family death they simply won't really have the time or energy to be gossiping about minor details right now, let alone when dealing with such a huge event like the queen's funeral.

Unfortunately yes, the Royal family have to be careful. And as we've seen from some threads on here there are very gullible people out there who not only believe everything they read in the tabloids but spread it carelessly all over the Internet.
