The royal family

What now for M&H

OliviaBean · 11/09/2022 15:45

I find the whole family and royal family (The Firm) aspect of Megxit very interesting.

Just wondering what now for M&H? Will they continue on with the strategy of talking and writing about the royal family or will things now change? I think the half in half out strategy on their terms would have worked for M&H but I think the RF were right to knock it on the head, it would never have worked for the RF, Harry was ready to go and Meghan was never going to just slot in with the system.

Just looking at Harry, I think the guy really needs the whole circus of fighting with the RF in public to stop, for his own mental health. He obviously has issues that he needs to come to terms with, he really needs to do this in private but this is at odds with how they need to make money now. I really fear for him the person.

If they keep going with the fighting then I think that's it for them and the RF. If they are to reconcile with the RF, how then do they make a living? I would imagine QE has left quite a provision for Harry in her will so perhaps the money making aspect will be less of a priority. I could see Charles being more open to a reconciliation but not sure about William.

Not trying to start a thread to bash anyone, just interested in other opinions.

When it mattered the most NOBODY from the RF put out a statement to condemn the racist trolls and the tabloids. Absolutely nobody - it was just silent. People can shower you will all the money in the world but moral and emotional support matters the most. The Queen obviously had the power to say something, she chose not to. Charles and Camilla and Obviously William.

I might be missing something here, but 8 days after their relationships went public Harry and William each put out a statement condemning the racist coverage.

Harry obviously then made the statements in South Africa, but what had he done in the two years before that? He was her husband, and a senior Royal Family member to boot - surely it’s his responsibility to take the lead on this?

DOES she lie, though? are you referring to the 'we got married three days before the wedding' thing? what exactly has she lied about?

You know, I’m starting to get the feeling that when I die, on my gravestone will be written “And here’s a list of all the times Meghan lied. Or, if you prefer, made an intentionally misleading statement…”. 😂😂😂

This doesn’t make much sense, it’s just a load of words about your friend and nothing whatsoever to do with Meghan .

You talk about if she is as talented as her admirers say, then go on to say Meghan might be delusional about being a great actress. Has Meghan said that or that she wants to go back to acting? Pretty weird post really.

Makes perfect sense to me. The poster is obviously comparing M to Philip Seymour Hoffman in 'Along Came Polly' !

Not the same Gaffe's Harry's Grandfather used to come up, 95% of which were questionable / racist. Nobody here is crucifying him for it. I bet it's the same people who would say awe he's sweet!

There is only one member of the RF that used blatant racially offensive language leading to the Prime Minister having to make a statement in the House of Commons and MM married him. I don’t see anyone crucifying him. Or is that different?Confused

Exactly !

Ohnonevermind · 13/09/2022 16:07

Imagine what the interview would have been if they had given Meghan her own passport and told her to book her own flights.

Meghan they didn’t treat me like the other royals, they hold their passports and book their travel but I had to book MY OWN

Oprah - (shocked face)

Since when has critical thinking been a negative attribute?

Yup. She would find something to be aggrieved about whatever. She didn’t like the Royal family and didn’t enjoy being in it. That’s fair enough. Instead of just admitting she hated it and wanted to leave , without rubbishing the family and throwing accusations around , she’s made herself into a professional victim.

And you know what they all go in the back entrance to the airports with their baggage dealt with.
I have to go in the front and show MY passport at the check-in desk. And check my own luggage in Like a normal person.

Have a watch of The Behaviour Panel - these are ex military globally recognised experts in body language. This is their take on the OW interview.

They say where the lies likely are, where there is economies with the truth etc.

Repeated stance is narcissistic behaviour traits and contrived professional victim narrative.

Ohnonevermind · 13/09/2022 16:19

@DFOD can I be cheeky and just ask for a quick one or two line summary please.

SueSaid · 13/09/2022 16:30

Why do people ask for evidence of the Sussexes ridiculous gripes, tales of woe and embellishments then when folk tell them they dismiss them as that was ages ago silly billy, that doesn’t count. Married 3 days before 'the spectacle' pah 4yrs ago get over it. Except they haven't have they and that is rather the point.

The Mandela comment counts as it is a prime example of their delusions. Chucking mud at the rf via Scobie in Finding Freedom/OW certainly counts as it displays their inability to follow their own advice to not gossip about family members. The disdain they have for the rf also counts, 'the housing unit they put us in' makes out they were allocated a static caravan in Skegness.

'Recollections may vary'. Aka bollocks.

Readinginthesun · 13/09/2022 16:31

Has anyone else read that Sunshine Sachs are not longer working with M and H ?
Could be nonsense but I have read this a few times in the last couple of days .

Well worth watching - I found the suggestion that PH likely already had a v difficult relationship with PC/KC before he met MM interesting. Also that emotionally he is often that of a young teenager - which would fit with getting stuck unresolved trauma at the age his mother died.

Ohnonevermind · 13/09/2022 16:34

I will, I just don’t have the concentration at the moment having ‘pretend covid’ and all that 🤣

reflexolog · 13/09/2022 16:34

I hope Harry and Meghan can make a path for the future where she isn't selling stories on the royal family, or doing lots of winks and nods to allude to future stories as to hook in people like Netflix as in the Cut interview, but is being independent and humanitarian and feminist and progressive and inspiring and just Meghan, not 'the Duchess of Sussex let me tell you what life was like in the monarchy for 18 months and these three incidents that are unsubstantiated for the next 40 years'.

We won't really know until a) Harry's book comes out and b) the Netflix documentary comes out.

We can but hope.

Their problem more like it! My American friends are intensely embarrassed by the whole thing.

I’m American, not embarrassed in the slightest. I obviously have lots of family/friend there, they either don’t care or have sympathy with M & H and like them. On the whole they don’t dislike the RF either. No goodies and baddies required.

Noone's suggesting PP didn't make gaffes, but I thought that the Sussexes wanted to live differently and be more open, truthful, and aware of others' feelings (because the RF weren't of theirs)?

My husband and I have just had a weekend in Madrid with three American friends we have been trying to meet since Covid. They are touring Spain and we finally got together! They ranged from liking her to loving her.

Vanessa Feltz was not ‘screeching’ that’s just a way to try to undermine her. Women are often accused of screaming and screeching or being shrill when calmly making perfectly valid points

This. It is a way of shutting down the points a woman is making. Her voice level did not change in the slightest.

Farmerazza · 13/09/2022 17:12

What I am seeing is how much power this woman Meghan has. Just breathing sends the whole UK into Frenzy. There is so much traffic on any articles and thread in forums like this.
For someone you dislike, you spend a lot of time on her.

But actually all it shows is that even people who aren’t necessarily Meghan fans can see that the hatred has become too much, therefore pulling up that silly woman in the other interview. The hatred by some, including on mumsnet is out of contol.

@garlicandsapphires

do you really think ‘a South African cast member of the Lion King told her that they danced on the streets when she got married like they did when Mandela was released’ - paraphrasing from her podcast with Serena Williams

she had to correct the court record as she gave a statement saying she didn’t provide information to the Omid scobie book, when she did

that She was trapped without her passport (despite her 13 private trips)

this has all been discussed in lots of detail earlier in the thread if you want it read it

I do believe that the composer told her this - I think she was unwise though to share it

The royal family do not carry their own passports

skullbabe · 13/09/2022 17:28

Ohnonevermind · 13/09/2022 15:56

That’s fine, but successful people have people to handle these things.

do you think Jill Biden is booking flights, or Elon musk or Oprah Winfrey or are they filling out visa waivers, or covid status certs before they get on the plane

do you think they sulk about not having their passports in their hand or are grateful that someone does all the grunt work for them.

Notice you’re changing the parameters of your argument here - the issue we have is one of agency. Could Oprah fire her assistant and do everything herself if she wanted to? Could Meghan? Why is someone losing their agency and their worry about it reduced to “sulking”? A gilded cage is still a cage.
