The royal family

What now for M&H

I find the whole family and royal family (The Firm) aspect of Megxit very interesting.

Just wondering what now for M&H? Will they continue on with the strategy of talking and writing about the royal family or will things now change? I think the half in half out strategy on their terms would have worked for M&H but I think the RF were right to knock it on the head, it would never have worked for the RF, Harry was ready to go and Meghan was never going to just slot in with the system.

Just looking at Harry, I think the guy really needs the whole circus of fighting with the RF in public to stop, for his own mental health. He obviously has issues that he needs to come to terms with, he really needs to do this in private but this is at odds with how they need to make money now. I really fear for him the person.

If they keep going with the fighting then I think that's it for them and the RF. If they are to reconcile with the RF, how then do they make a living? I would imagine QE has left quite a provision for Harry in her will so perhaps the money making aspect will be less of a priority. I could see Charles being more open to a reconciliation but not sure about William.

Not trying to start a thread to bash anyone, just interested in other opinions.

Is snowdon not dead?!

As Ghislaine said, the 1st Earl of Snowdon is dead, I'm talking about the 2nd, his son David, formerly Viscount Linley. The current Viscount Linley is his son Charles, from the marriage to Serena Stanhope.

Yeas but he's an Earl so has a tile. Same as a Duke, Marquis, Viscount or Lord.

I don't think Peter or Zara have any title not even Lord and Lady do they? 🤔

It doesn’t matter that they’re not titled. They’re the Queen’s grandchildren. Peter will be included 100%, same as Earl Snowden was.

JustLyra · 12/09/2022 23:10

*The Princes' Vigil is Princes only

No. the first one was Princes only.

The last one had the then Viscount Linley - not a Prince.

This one will have Princess Anne, and almost certainly Peter Philips. If not several non-princes

JustLyra · 12/09/2022 23:13

Serenster · 12/09/2022 22:48

If it’s 2 x 4 grandchildren then it’ll also include her younger brother. He’s very young at 14 for that kind of pressure.

But if they do it that way the four grandsons together and 4 granddaughters together would be lovely. The four granddaughters would be making history doing it - first granddaughters to do it.

I’ll throw another name into the mix - Arthur Chatto, Sarah Chatto’s son. His mother was very close to her aunt, and Arthur was the Queen’s page for a number of years when younger. He is now in his early 20s, and in the Marines. Could be an option instead of Viscount Linley.

I think if Sarah Chatto was being represented by a male it would be her husband, or her elder son.

They certainly wouldn’t have one of the Chatto sons as a replacement for Earl snowdon (who I still think of as Linley) or his son.

Yes, if you listen to the commentary, she's setting a new precedent.

It's the first time a daughter has stood vigil and I think that's a really good thing.

They do appear to be keeping the name Prince's Vigil though.

For HMQM, it was Princes Phillip, Charles, Andrew and Edward

Angela Levin who spends her life spreading hate about Meghan is questioned on her opinions and sources, and can't handle it.

I couldn’t watch it all - I was cringing. 🤣 And this was on TalkTV! Wow! I feel like there has been a tiny shift since that walkabout and The King’s speech where he mentioned them.

Prince Philip wasn’t part of the vigil for his MIL.

it was her 4 grandsons - Charles, Andrew, Edward & David

No you are right - apologies, I meant instead of Viscount Severn, the Wessexes young son. It’s late!

Wait till they find out Meghan when she attends the coronation gets a coronet and luxury robe 🤣

Coronet AND a tiara at the same time. It’s a real bling fest!

An actual coronet - there will me much gnashing of teeth and the proverbial rending of garments 🤣!

Meghan bashers might genuinely faint from the raised blood pressure. 🤣

She's going to arrive hand in hand with the son of the monarch, in full regalia as a royal Duke and Duchess.

Feathers will be spat from the Abbey to the end of the Thames with horror 🤣

Pearock · 12/09/2022 23:33

Why would they wear the formal attire if they don't want to be a part of the royal family as its so racist and atrocious though?

Don't be silly. It's his actual family. And he will dress to the same norms as all of them do

Ohnonevermind · 12/09/2022 23:40

I’ve a feeling the robes are ermine ? Would Meghan be happy to wear ermine. it might be at odds with her love of animals.

She’s the DIL of the monarchy, it’s right she’s there. I can’t imagine frothing over it myself. it’s PETA who will be doing the frothing

JustLyra · 12/09/2022 23:41

No you are right - apologies, I meant instead of Viscount Severn, the Wessexes young son. It’s late!

It would be more likely Earl Snowdon imo.

Or perhaps the Duke of Gloucester. I think all three of her Prince cousins would have done it previously, but the Duke of Kent is looking quite frail these days

Pearock · 12/09/2022 23:33

Because they will be attending a coronation. And despite the tabloid fuel conspiracy theories, Harry is a prince by birthright, the son of a monarch, a royal Duke and his wife a royal duchess by marriage.

He can't turn up to his father's coronation in a Gucci suit and her in a Dior shift dress.

It will be one day (a long day) but one day where he and his wife will be expected and requested to take their positions on the monarchy chess board.

But they've both been making money about telling people how terrible it is, seems hypocritical really doesn't it. You are right they are his family, he should have better prepared meghan for what marrying him would invite into her life and also considered his family before bad mouthing them whilst his grandfather was on his deathbed, no? I do think if they'd actually moved on like they said they wanted to and not burned bridges they could have had the best of both worlds- lived in cali and pursued projects that interested them and come back to see family and be a part of events. As is they are failing at both, such a shame.

Cameleongirl · 13/09/2022 00:17

Hmm, that’s an interesting point. I haven’t thought about the coronation, but I wonder whether they would be willing to participate in all the pageantry? I could definitely see them attending, but wearing ermine and coronets? I think it would be reasonable for them to decline, as they don’t wish to be part of the public face of the RF anymore.

If Meghan was on mumsnet, we’d have told her to do the same for the racism alone. Looks like they came to that conclusion themselves and left the country. That’s how you properly reduce contact. 😉

Do you mean Kate was racist to MM?

Moved on? You mean not mention the racism and lack of support from members of their own family. Keep quiet and cover for them? Why shouldn’t they talk about their disappointment? I’d tell people too.

I mean this is just me, but even if I hated my family with a passion but was offered a gown, cape, jewell's and a coronet for the day.

I'd be bang to rights on that, selfies all afternoon in the toilets. I may not like them, but I like my coronet 🖕🏻👑🤣

What can I say I'm easily persuaded, I see shiny things and say "yes", probably how I've managed to be engaged 3 times...🤣
