Feeling sorry for the Duchess of Sussex

It must be so surreal for her to be caught in everything that is happening at the moment. I know H&M are controversial to say the least but they came here to do a feel good tour and are now caught up in everything that's going on. If I were Meghan, I'd travel back to the US to be with my dc and leave Harry with trusted family and aids. It was odd that the Sussexes said they'd both travel to Balmoral and the media now say that King Charles said that Meghan wouldn't be welcome. I can understand why as only close family attendee's Balmoral.

To sum it up, I feel sorry for both Harry and Meghan, I think they are out of their depth. Their autobiography will be interesting.

There are screencaps on Twitter and Reddit of Mumsnetters posting the N word (typed out in full) in Meghan bash threads circa 2018/2019.

Some of the posters who were giggling and egging it om and clearly relishing seeing a black poster having nr screamed at them - the same posters who deliberately didn't report the N word post for hours to ensure black posters saw it - are on this thread.

theveg · 10/09/2022 11:59

And I don't think she's lying either. She has her recollection and other people have theirs.

What about when she said she got married 3 days before her wedding?

When she said a South African actor told her people danced in the streets when she got married just as they did when Mandela was freed?

When she said members of the royal rota used the N word to describe her child?

I have judged Meghan on her own words and actions - not what us reported in on the press which is often dubious.
She has blatantly lied repeatedly, and that is what I have judged her on.
It's such a pity she ended up being this way, in the beginning she appeared to be a wonderful, mature strong woman and a breath of fresh air, I was thrilled we were going to have a person of colour in the RF, she was beautiful and talented and Harry adored her.

It has all soured so badly now, the things that come out of her mouth are just beggars belief. She's let herself down badly.

Except she has not lied, let alone 'repeatedly'.

StripeyDeckchair · 10/09/2022 12:00

H&M made their choice to step out of the royal family -- fine, understandable, I've no problems with thar.

They then made their choice to, repeatedly, criticise and bad mouth the royal family & to tell lies about the past.
They keep using their royal titles in the USA because of the status & the money it brings them - hypocritical
They continually contradict themselves

  • want privacy but to be high profile at a few specific times,
  • want to save the planet but fly all over by private jet & use gas guzzling vehicles
BringBackCoffeeCreams · 10/09/2022 12:00

I felt sad for Harry, seeing him travelling alone and clearly distressed. But ultimately that is the path he and Meghan have chosen for themselves.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 10/09/2022 12:00

I’d just point out that Princess Michael of Kent (who reputedly wore a racist brooch) is of German/Austrian/Hungarian descent, and not a Brit. Before marrying into the RF she was a Baroness something or other.
The Queen is said to have commented, ‘Oh, she’s much too grand for the likes of us.’

Yet more lies!

If Meghan is so terrible, why do you need to invent lies to smear her all the time?

The only person she's estranged from his her dad, and the half-sister she barely knew.

One single friend dumped her (not Meghan dumping the friend) many years before she met Harry because she couldn't handle Meghan getting divorced. That friend sold Meghan out in multiple interviews when she hadn't even spoken to Meghan in years, and it's clear from interviews that she was obsessed with Meghan's husband and overly fixated on their marriage.

The only other person to claim to have been ditched is a woman she met once who lied about being her agent (Meghan is still close with her actual agent who has never spoken publicly).

None of Meghan's actual close friends who were all at the wedding and baby shower are estranged from her!

lol It’s the first time I’ve mentioned her but whatever.

Are you referring to someone asking what they think archie will look like? A perfectly normal question to be honest. My DH is white and we wondered what our baby would look like with the mix of our genes.

The "ginger Afro" comment was offensive. Surely, anyone can see that.

Totally offensive and disgusting. Afros are beautiful and are being embraced in 2022, I see them all the time in London. Whoever made the comment is a racist dinosaur.

But it is your Dh and it is his baby. You obviously come from a place of love.

Camilla is not the parent, and not even the biological grandparent.

I admit I may be biased, given that she was the OW... I would think that generally people who sleep with other married people lack judgement and moral compass.

Why? Unless you think having an afro is a negative thing.

@theveg

People continue to misrepresent what she said and actually take it so literally they make it seem like a lie. Many people in some cultures, including African American cultures, have a non-legal ceremony before the legal one. They consider that the REAL marriage even they it wasn't legal. She didn't lie. People just assumed she lied because they have no concept of vow exchanges that aren't legal being called 'being married'.

How is what she said about the actor a 'lie'? Do you have proof it's a 'lie'?

A member of the royal family did use the N word, Harry has said this. Again, why do you assume it's a 'lie'? Because you personally, don't want to believe it?

I have never seen any proof that Meghan has ever lied about anything. I've only seen spiteful posters accuse her of lying, without any proof themselves.

WaveyHair · 10/09/2022 12:05

It's almost not what she has done but how they (both her & Harry) have done things.

She has lied-claiming her kids did not get titles because of their race. Titles they say they have shunned as they want to exit public life.

They say they hate the royals but use this status when it suits them for their own purposes.

All those security concerns which they claim prevented them from travelling appear to be less of a concern now.

They did have a non-legal ceremony three days before the wedding, that's been confirmed. It's very very common for people to have the legal ceremony separate from the celebration, or to have two ceremonies, and to not consider the legal one to be their "wedding" in the emotional sense and in terms of what's meaningful. My best friends had a legal wedding ceremony in a registry office with 2 witnesses a week before their actual wedding and they still consider their non-legal wedding to be "their wedding." So do millions of people.

Do you consider Bob and Rachel Smith from Leicester to be LIARS!!!!!! because they consider something other than their legal ceremony to be their wedding, and celebrate their anniversary on the second date?

Do you get very very very angry that Bob and Rachel Smith dare to celebrate their anniversary not on the day of their legal ceremony?

I've worked in newsrooms, the N word used to get thrown around like confetti. Can you prove absolutely beyond any doubt that no journalist has ever privately called Archie the N word?

theveg · 10/09/2022 12:05

If Afros are beautiful (which I agree with) why is using the word racist?

FFS, don't make excuses for her! There's no excuse for racism regardless of where the fuck you come from!

It's singling out Meghan's partial black heritage. Archie will be 1/4 black only--the chances of an afro are low. It's a racist comment.

YellowTreeHouse · 10/09/2022 09:26

This is a situation of their own making, and they don’t learn from their mistakes - they keep doing it.

So no, I don’t feel sorry for them. They’ve made their bed and burnt their bridges and now they have to deal with the consequences of that.

I shouldn’t think it’ll be long before he divorces her anyway if he has any sense.

Yup. Soap opera sleb nonsense.

Thesage · 10/09/2022 12:07

She's proven herself to be a pathological liar, so nothing she says can now be believed. As you make your bed, so you must lie on it

Snog · 10/09/2022 12:07

Meghan has caused a lot of stress and misery for the Queen and RF and will no doubt monetarise the death of the Queen as "content".

I imagine that the only person who actually wants her to be present at the funeral is Harry.

theveg · 10/09/2022 12:07

Greengianttrees · 10/09/2022 12:07

Flockbee · 10/09/2022 12:03

you can’t be serious.

eg dark skin is beautiful, but would you like someone speculating that your child will be a darkie?

and then with faux wonder say, what’s wrong with that? My (imaginary) mixed race family said the same and it was obviously out of love...

Gingersay · 10/09/2022 12:08

What makes H&M so special to see the queen on her death bed? What about the 6 other grandkids and their partners. The ones that seen her on a regular basis and showed her love and respect. They never got to go in plane either. She was dying it's not a circus.
