Prince Archie & Princess Lilibet?

Surely not?

I look forward to Harry's announcement explaining that they will decline prince and princess titles for their DC, in keeping with their decision to stand down as senior royals and live private lives in the US.

Anything less under the circumstances would be rank hypocrisy

They are also reporting that H&M are furious but I guess we will see about that too.

I don’t understand why they are furious ?
they got the titles for their children,

Viviennemary · 16/09/2022 11:27

I just read there will be no official announcement re the titles and entitlement to HRH until after the official period of court mourning. Which I think is a week after the funeral.

That's probably the best thing they can do for their DC, keep them away from the spotlight, give them the chance to have an element of nomality rather than be a random prince(ss) who will never be a senior royal. It's worked for Zara Tindall and Lady Louise.

Yes so sensible.

Harry and Meghan always said it is their children's decision over titles when adults, which I agree with.

strangely it is super important to them that their dc (who live in America) can be called Prince and Princess. I wonder why?

I don’t find that surprising tbh, it aligns with their self-important behaviour to date

Who said it's important? Give it a rest with the meaness.

The security concern is complete fabrication surely? Beatrice and Eugenie don't have tax payer paid security except when on official engagements and they are HRH princesses.

Not this stupid false comparison again.

They both have security (Andrew took over paying).
They've both had security their whole lives.
They had taxpayer funded security until well into adulthood.
They don't have racist death threats and terrorists being sent to prison for planning to kill their families.

What's the argument why two basically non-controversial early-twenties women deserved and needed taxpayer funded security but two tiny children who get death threats don't?

The tabloids always claim they're furious about everything.

Honestly have a tiny bit of critical thinking.

How many people would have been present at these top level meetings between Charles and Harry? Not many!

Harry and Meghan would obviously not leak a story that makes them look disrespectful, grasping and rageful. (And they don't leak to UK tabloids for obvious reasons.)

Either this story is like most tabloid royal stories ie made up out of thin air, or a very high up royal insider is betraying Charles by running to a tabloid to spill.

sunglassesonthetable · 17/09/2022 07:58

@TheWheeledAvenger

That wasn't me. 😁 I was quoting someone else.

CoatyWonder · 17/09/2022 09:22

Obviously harry and Meghan will not take titles for their children, that's the opposite of wanting a normal life for them

sitandwait · 17/09/2022 18:56

antelopevalley · 16/09/2022 22:07

Harry and Meghan always said it is their children's decision over titles when adults, which I agree with.

Have they? I haven't come across this. When did they say it?

I would like to see the offer made to give prince and princess titles to the children, on the basis of no other changes, i.e. it makes no difference to their funding for security purposes. It would be interesting to see then whether the offer was taken up. But Charles couldn't be accused of withholding titles that way.

Snog · 18/09/2022 12:23

Surely the main reason for M&H to insist on royal titles for their dc is to monetarise them?

TheWheeledAvenger · 18/09/2022 12:42

"They'll monitise it" is the new "everything they do is being secretly filmed by hidden Netflix cameras" isn't it? Ie a convenient weapon to trash them with that relies on the unverified promise of something to happen in the future.

They voluntarily gave stopped using their own HRH titles. Practically everyone calls Meghan by her maiden name. In reality no one outside of hardcore royalists know or care what exact titles someone has or doesn't have.

Archie is a prince now and Lili is a princess. They'll grow up being called Prince Archie and Princess Lili. You're assume Americans are even aware of the difference between HRH Prince Archie and just Prince Archie?

Snog · 18/09/2022 12:53

Not really "the unverified promise of something to happen in the future"

H&M have been busy monetising their own royal titles for the past 3 years.

Snog · 18/09/2022 12:54

M seems to cling on to her Duchess of Sussex title and princess status even more tightly than she clings on to Prince Harry

TheWheeledAvenger · 18/09/2022 12:57

Yet they voluntarily gave up their HRHs, and Meghan has never used her Princess title which would likely impress Americans more than a Duchess title.

Ffs can't we lay off the Harry hate for one day.

Agree

Snog · 18/09/2022 13:12

Let's be honest here
Meghan doesn't use her Princess title because she is Princess Henry and not Princess Meghan
She does however frequently refer to herself as "a princess"

Why though do you feel you can censor other people who may wish to criticise poor behaviour by public figures.

Xenia · 18/09/2022 13:20

Apparently HRH Prince Archie for some is preferable to just Prince Archie as i the US "Prince" is sometimes used as a first ordinary name. I think Prince Archie will be fine however.

I do wish the chidlren had the full versions of their names Prince Archibold and Princess Elizabeth would be nicer, but of course parents can choose their names and my views are irrelevant.

So why aren’t there 20 threads about Prince Andrew? An actual criminal.

Mostly because they end up getting deleted because people make potentially libellous statements that puts the site at risk if they let them stand

BlueRidge · 18/09/2022 13:49

"So why aren’t there 20 threads about Prince Andrew? An actual criminal."

Well, because there's not much debate to be had on that one, is there?

I call BS. The reason people always start threads about Harry and Meghan is because they prefer ripping shreds off the two of them than anyone else in the RF.

So why aren’t there 20 threads about Prince Andrew? An actual criminal.

Everyone is in general agreement that Andrew is a sordid character who has brought huge disgrace on the royal family.

Meghan and Harry are more divisive and therefore excited more lively debate.
